I love how people are still posting content on this show...nearly 20 years after it first came out. It's awesome. And this is hilarious!

Some of the best writing and talent ever. Thing is, they do the other side just as well, from the poignant to tragedy. And despite - everything, they portray the military well, particularly in ceremonies. In other shows, military portrayals are amateurish. Not here. The best was when Toby arranged the funeral for the Korean vet. They must have been either real or former service members in that one.

Would people really be pissed off if a map drawn before Israel was established was placed in the Oval Office? And if so why?

In all likelihood there would be people who would get offended. As Leo says, it's a hot button issue. There are still countries in the Middle East that deny Israel's right to exist. There have been wars fought over this in living memory and things are still really tense. For the President to pick that map out of all the art available for the limited display space in the outer office sends a message about Israel's right to exist, even if that's not what Bartlett intends. It basically reminds people who go to see the President of the area's colonial past and may give some people a "your country hasn't been around that long and it only exists because of western support" type vibe. That's my read of the situation. Hope that makes sense!

I miss this show so much. Why is this no longer on reruns? Who has the rights to it now? I know it's not on basic cable.

Four if you count Mike Myers' "piper dwn" of the official _Axe Murderer's_ Canadian Gaelic vernacular. Five if you count "dweeb".

can anyone please tell me if there really are people out there that would be offended by the map?

Unfortunately, of course there are because people are very, very stupid and unreasonable.

Of course. It doesn’t recognise Israel.

In all seriousness, yes, I imagine there would be. Never make the mistake of underestimating stupidity.

Due to the years of political and religious discord between Palestine and Israel, yes, it would be very possible. Which is also why the U.N. and other nations were particularly uncomfortable by the Trump decision to move the American Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
