Most of these retros are ripped straight from Tour, Waluigi Pinball is in Tour, so you can bet it’ll be in this with little to no changes from the Tour remake.

I think they would probably release a wave in early December 2022 so they can add Merry Mountain with no complaints about it being 'out of tradition'. It would also be good timing for kids who want to get the game for Christmas, so there's a brand new wave out around that time (just like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's release).
@@harrybest2041 but I think rosalina's ice world from mk7 would make the most sense for a snow track on Christmas ( cause the soundtrack fits for Christmas)
Maple Treeway is in Tour so I can pretty much guarantee its coming, but I don't see the point in them adding it if there's no anti gravity and plastic looking graphics.
Dude, if Toad's Factory gets remade i'm gonna scream of happiness. That is, and forever will be, my favourite track of every Mario Kart game. EDIT: Welp.
The graphical disparity between this and the recently released Wave 4 trailer is equal parts hilarious and amazing because it shows they've actually been taking feedback into account and fine-tuning each new course. Like none of these first 8 courses had any anti-gravity sections whatsoever and were almost direct ports from Tour, yet recent waves have had courses with anti-grav, heavily upscaled graphics (just look at 3DS Rainbow Road, Merry Mountain, Riverside Park and Waluigi Stadium) and even some that haven't been announced for Tour at all :D
I've been holding off Mario kart 8 dx in hopes of Mario kart 9, but this reveal is the final push I needed to come to a decision. 48 additional tracks over the next year means this game is staying until the next console generation. Mario Kart 8 will forever be the best selling switch game.
What about the Wii U version? People always credit the Nintendo Switch version for it's success, but what about the original? It was the best selling game for the Wii U way before the Nintendo Switch was released or even announced.
It's not Mario Kart 9, but it's good enough and I'm definitely excited for it. Love the fact that it has Coconut Mall and MKTour content, can't wait :D
To be honest, I thought they were done with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe because the game has not received any major updates since 2018. It looks like Nintendo is not finish with the game yet.
So pumped, but I wish they would texture the courses better to match 8’s art direction. These courses look great for Mario kart tour, but out of place here
They don't seem to have added anti-gravity either. I hope they just avoided the anti-gravity sections in the trailer and didn't scrap them entirely. Maybe they're still in development. Edit: The promotional artwork has anti-gravity vehicles, so there's still hope.
Yeah, very true. I'm so happy to get so many new tracks, but I always loved MK8 for it's beautiful and filigree graphics, but tbh the booster tracks look just like straight ported from Mk Tour. Way simpler and more boring. I would have liked quality over quantity. Although I'm not a big fan of the graphics, I will buy it, because I'm sure they will be amazing to drive and give us an exciting Mariokart experience. I just wished they put a bit more work into it. I'd have also paid more for it, if the tracks were prettier and more fitting.
This is great! While I would like more characters, doubling the amount of courses in the game is also a plus. Now this really feels like it earned the title of "Deluxe."
@@Simon-cd1ui Probably because he thinks it feels like a cash grab. Tho imo the amount of courses more than justifies the price and bundling it with the expansion just makes getting it a better purchase overall
Yeah same! I feel like it has to be one of them. It has yet to be remade in a main series game and it's literally one of if not the best and most iconic track in Mario Kart history.
@@speedude0164 It's already remade in a mainline game, which is Tour. And like other courses featured here this track will probably use MKT's design too.
I'm so hyped because I always thought the game was missing a few of my favorite old courses, it'd be nice if they used these updates as an opportunity to fix some things with the game like: -adding 60fps in 3/4 player splitscreen -adding LAN play (like 2-3 switches to have 8 or 12 players) -add some more characters/karts from the older games Plus this increases the pressure to make MK9 even more insane for the next system in 2024/2025!
@@laserdude3643 sadly I think you're right and they wont do any of that. Also I just realized the graphics of these course are not on-par with the rest of the mario kart 8 deluxe maps, they are ripped from MK Tour which is a bit disappointing.
Please Nintendo! Announce the second wave already! I can only play Ninja Hideaway 100 times before getting bored! Edit: it’s out now so is Wave 3 and Wave 4 and Wave 5! Now announce Wave 6!
Absolutely love this addition, especially Coconut Mall- BUT if I had to make one nitpick it would be the redesign of the escalators, if you can even call them that now. Might be just me but I loved the realistic, bumpy nature of the originals- and the fact that you had to pay a little more attention to which was going up and which was going down, now it just seems like it'll be a little easy. Just me ? 🤨
@@deadbobomb6445 here’s my math: if there are 6 waves over the next two years (24 months) then I would guess there would be 3 per year separated by 4 months. Since the first one comes in March 2022, second would be July and then third would be November. But that’s if they get released like clockwork, so I’d also guess the gaps between each wave might range between 3 and 5 months so October doesn’t seem too unlikely since it might boost their sales if they make it themed and release before 31st October. One can only hope :)
The 8 actually means infinite. That aside i would also love to see some more new playable drivers into the mix together with each new course pack, not just some cheap recolors of existing ones but a bunch of returning ones into the fray and maybe a few brand new that has normally never entered the racing courses on the home console, characters such as Pauline, Diddy Kong and Funky Kong would be incredible additions to the roster that would add lots of character into the mix. There's so many fan favorite characters yet to be added into the game as playable drivers and Mario Kart 8 is now finally receiving a long lineup of content updates in new courses, giving players a much grander range of drivers along the way shouldn't be overlooked addition either.
@@unabletothinkofagoodname.6521 the clever art design for the number 8 is the symbol for infinity, it was they intentionally went for ever since it was first dropped on the WII U, what i poked fun at is that it was infinite all along, which gives it more of the Skyrim treatment but better, with actual new content being made for it instead of just being re-released to every console in existence.
Truly the BEST TIMELINE. I always thought it was so weird that MK8D never got DLC with how successful it was and this being part of the Expansion Pass is just icing on the cake. So happy the Tour courses won't be stuck on the mobile game anymore too! AND COCONUT MALL! Ahhhhh, so good!
Hopefully we can say the same for characters like Pauline, Diddy, Dixie, Funky, Hammer Bro and Kamek. Although I won’t be expecting it in order to avoid disappointment, it would be a nice surprise.
Yes indeed! I was stunned to see this. I know there's at least 3 Switch games I'd like to get this year: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (plus this new Booster Course Pass DLC), Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and last but not least... Sonic Frontiers.
i know right. because CTGP had 128 tracks. im super happy mario kart 8 deluxe is geting 48 new tracks. thats 96 tracks. i liked mario kart CTGP on my wii i had fun on that.
Nintendo copied CTGPs character change online feature, they also did 200cc after CTGP speed mods existed. This copies CTGP to a greater extent, yet I'm all for it!
I’m 100% in on this. I know people wanted MK9, but honestly, if it was gonna come out on the current Switch hardware how different from MK8 would it have really been? Not much. Save MK9 for next gen and go nuts with it.
Yes. I'd love to see if Nintendo could maybe give each cart racer it's own identity with allowing them to have unique items to there character. A little like super mario party and smash ultimate in some aspects
You know what? It would be really hard to improve upon Deluxe so I think this is a logical way to give the players more content, without it being a new game. I'm fine with this 👍
This was such an unforgettable journey 2 years of extra Mario Kart 8 Deluxe content I'll never forget this journey, thank you Mario Kart Tour and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe what you both gave to the World
This was literally my brother’s dream, seeing as many remastered courses as possible. But DAMN, I didn’t expect them to include it as MK8 Deluxe DLC. The game was THAT famous that they did this. Also, I’m surprised they included tracks from Mario Kart Tour.
I hope there are Wii rainbow road, Wii Daisy Circuit, Wii Toad's Factory, DS Airship Fortress, GCN Bowser castle, GBA Rainbow Road, and 3DS Daisy Hills of course!
Daisy hills WILL be in. Because all of these tracks are ripped from the mobile game. Daisy hills is one of the courses in the mobile game, so it’ll be here.
I feel like most of the tracks for this expansion are gonna be taken from Mario Kart Tour. And that game had Daisy Hills along with other Mario kart 7 courses
Or, and this might be pretty controversial here, they could make a new mario kart? But you're probably right continuously adding new paid content to a 10 year old game is the best way to keep things "fresh"
@@casizle377 I completely agree! If we are paying money for an additional 48 courses then we might as well just get a new game with new features too instead of piggybacking off of an older game. I get why they did it but it's just another way for Nintendo to make a quick buck.
@@casizle377 For most people this game is basically a little under 5 years old, considering how poorly the wii u sold. But even if I've been playing it for the 8 years its been on wii U, I don't see the problem with just taking it and furthering it instead of overhauling the whole system for a new title for the sake of it. MK8 is kinda too good to waste, so they're basically treating it like it's the Switch's original title. The game is super polished mechanically and visually, so it would probably be hard for them to up it at this point in time. Your opinion is not that unpopular though, most people wanted a new game. I am personally of the opinion that fans are a little too impatient and rabbid for sequels to every series known to man considering how much work all of these games take, and how they will only continue to take more and more. Not a Nintendo shill at all, but I think it was a smart move. We already have one MK game on the system to work off of, might as well stick to it for now. My only fear here is that these new maps look very unpolished, they don't seem to match the look of the game.
@@casizle377 honestly I'd rather see the next mario kart on the next iteration of the switch or whatever nintendos next system may be. With dlc as an option I think it can hold me over till then
I'm guessing MK9 will come with the new Nintendo console whenever that happens, since with this DLC MK8DX probably wont stop selling until they finish the DLC in 2023, so after that it's fair game, I'm guessing 2025 will be the year of a new console, and MK9 will be a launch title
@@Kristiano100 That’s so weird though, to think that the Switch will never have a MK title all its own, that an entire console generation will be skipped before we get a completely new entry.
@@archer5834 Nintendo are probably putting much more effort into the courses than Mario Kart Wii's modding community. Tokyo Blur and Sky Garden show some changes from their Mario Kart Tour versions, especially Sky Garden.
My all-time favorite Mario Kart is Mario Kart Wii, second favorite being MKDS, so maps like Delfino Square, Coconut Mall, DK Mountain, DK’s Jungle Parkway, and especially Moonview Highway and Toad’s Factory are my favorite maps that I haven’t played in at least 10+ years when i was a little kid, and i could go on and on about those games. i’m really excited for this DLC
Coconut Mall will always be my favorite course. The attention to detail, the music, the overall happy feel of it. Ahh, 2008 and 2009 memories growing up. Great times.
"I'M WALKIN' ON SUNSHIIIINE... WOAH~OAH~OHHH" ...I always think of that song when I remember the times I spent playing that course on Wii with my sisters. Late 2000's were banger.
My main problem with this is how a lot of the tracks have textures that were ripped right from tour. This usually wouldn’t be a problem, but the tracks in base MK8 Deluxe have more detailed tracks. I know graphics don’t mean a lot in terms of the quality of the tracks and I’m still gonna buy it, but the tracks being added definitely stand out from the base tracks. They just look like they don’t belong in MK8. I mean look at the detail in the buildings in Toad Harbor compared to Tokyo Blur. It’s night and day. Again, I’m still buying it, but it’s just something I noticed.
@@MGMVE skip to 1:07 and look at the temple and you will see what I mean. It just looked like Nintendo wasn’t putting enough effort into remaking these tracks and is just porting them rather than remake them like the retro tracks in the base game. That worries me because what about tracks like Waluigi Pinball? If that comes back, are they just gonna port the MK Tour version? Or will they actually put effort into remaking the track to suit MK8?
well they said this is a "remastered" not a "remake", also i think they didn't do mk8 graphics so they will use the advance graphic in the next mario kart game for the next console. So we might getting some of the courses from this DLC with a better design in the next mario kart isntallment.
I like how these tracks are mostly "Remasters" but the fact they are adding in Tour courses it genuinely feels like we're getting a full new Mario Kart game without having to lose all the tracks from 8 Deluxe. I fell like this was a really smart way about giving us more Mario Kart. Though I can't way for Mario Kart 9 on the Nintendo Schmorbob, coming in the year 2032.
You know what? I can wait for Mario Kart 9 now. Idk if it's because this is more content than I can handle or I'm happy to see Coconut Mall, but they've found a way to shut me up about begging for MK9 so I'm not complaining Yet. We'll see if they add Toad's Factory
@@thefirstofthelastones8952 Those were rumors by uncredited sources. So for the sake of argument, say they did announce a new main-line title, it won't be until another year or two since the rumors did state it was in "early development" and this pass is their priority right now which will complete by the end of 2023
Speaking Of Deluxe. I still hope Nintendo thinks to make a Deluxe version of Smash Ultimate. With it having all the old single player modes Ultimate did not get like Break The Targets, Smash Run, Board The Platforms, ECT........ Netcode Rollback. An actually good story mode. Characters like Dixie Kong, Krystal From Star Fox, Bandanna Waddle Dee, Crash Bandicoot, Rayman, Earthworm Jim, ECT........ New Music Tracks New Stages All that jazz. Please make it happen soon Nintendo!
@@AlmightyPolarBear yeah, I like this approach better than simply making a new entry with a different number. It's really pointless unless you got an idea for a completely new gameplay mechanic. This way they make a game, everybody loves it, sells great, polished and fun and then they just add stuff. Kinda like what they're doing with New Horizons as well. Imagine if they said "we are making 48 new kingdoms for Mario Odyssey". I don't think people would necessarily complain. I know I wouldn't 😁
I was expecting 8 tracks, maybe 12. THEY'RE MAKING 48?! Worth every penny. Glad Mario Kart is getting some much-needed love. The release windows model will keep online populations high for a long time, as well.
They're ported maps from mario kart tour a free game. And I mean ported, the art style, lighting, models are exactly the same as the mario kart tour it's a lazy cash grab.
I’m already nostalgic for this now that Wave 6 has released, sure, the initial waves weren’t very good in the visual department especially, but dang, the excitement when this first launched is still felt now with the latest wave’s release
Omg same! I remember being terrified of the shell cup because it had a course called ghost valley or sumat like that when you could break and fall of the edges. Me at 7 years old was traumatised 😂
It makes total sense of the Nintendo to put coconut Mall’s music at the beginning of the teaser trailer of the first wave of the booster course pass because they pretty much guaranteed a huge profit
@@kampfgnom78rickert15 That's true. And Nabbit, Meowser, Captain Toad, Monty Mole, 8-bit DK jr. and a lot of costumes. That's quite a selection to choose from.
I hope, if they’re adding maps from MKT, they can add the actual characters, like Kangaroo Yoshi, and Halloween Mario etc, that add no additional “win” but just make your character look cool.
I would love more characters but please, no, no more Variations of Mario XD I think there's enough already. Give me a Luigi Variation or maybe bring Funky Kong and Kamek back
I really hope Mushroom Gorge makes it in. That's my all time favorite course. I think this is cool having 48 new courses. Are they coming out monthly when you buy the pass?
Nope. Waves 1-3 are 2022, and Waves 4-6 are 2023... I presume they'll announce the dates in future Nintendo Directs. Wii Mushroom Gorge is in the datamines for Mario Kart Tour. Since the art style in the Pass are based off that game that I just said, it is likely to be added in the future. It is a fan favourite afterall, along with Wii DK Summit and Wii Maple Treeway which they both got added to Mario Kart Tour ever since 2021 and 2020 respectfully. So it is not out of the question. Tour however has more than 48 courses, so it is unlikely that all the courses from Tour are going to be added in... most likely the popular ones. If you do like the GBA... well apart from the Bowser Castles... they're revamped to fit in the modern Mario Kart styles just like what they did to GBA Sky Garden. I've played Tour for almost 2 years, and 2 GBA courses did have this same treatment. So keep an eye out for GBA Cheep-Cheep Island, and GBA Sunset Wilds. From memory, those two + GBA Sky Garden are surprisingly popular in general. Imagine the Spiny Shell Cup at the end includes some Bowser's Castle courses such as 3DS Bowser's Castle. That's in Tour too.
@@tctt185_dg If I had to bet, I would leave out GCN Yoshi's Island, SNES Rainbow Road, 3DS Neo Bowser City and N64 Royal Raceway just because they are already in 8 Deluxe and it would be considered a downgrade... Then I wouldn't be sure if they will add all SNES tracks (like all Mario Circuit 1, 2 and 3) or other tracks with the same name. Btw by cancelling out some of these names you can count around 45-46 tracks and if you add Coconut Mall and Shroom Ridge you get 48... But I can barely believe that Mario Kart Tour will not add more tracks than that, even if ofc they cannot update new content forever
This is *exactly* what I wanted. Having more retro courses in the latest game, all nice and pretty. Thank you for doing what I never thought would happen, Nintendo.
It just.makes so much more sense rather then making you pay for a whole new game and then alienating the sales of this one.... and people will buy it too! Its.either that or Didst Kong racing.....or nothing at all
@@Matanumi exactly. What would a whole new game even have? The same mechanics with new courses, right? I'd rather forgo a new game and just get new maps (and maybe new racers later on)

@@hunniebunnies But the Wii doesn't have online play anymore, nor as high quality as graphics as 8 Deluxe. Also, these were built to match the originals versus using preset pieces to imitate the older levels. No underwater, flying, or gravity defying bits either.
I really have to give Nintendo props here. This is a really generous price for this many additional courses. Normally, they charge too much for DLC, but this is more than reasonable.
If you look closely, you can see all of these are actually just ported from Mario Kart Tour. They clearly lack the effort that was put into the main courses. Just look at Tokyo Blur and compare it to Dragon Driftway. The difference is night and day. I wish they put a bit more effort into the courses, but oh well.
@@debornmc I totally agree. @@bibs9127 i feel like 9 wont be a thing and id be fine with it as long as they make additions like they did with smash. Maybe if they never make a 9th they'll add different modes to the game rather than the standard gliding and anti gravity
Never would I thought Mario Kart 8 Deluxe would get additional DLC after so long, but better late than never. Also, while it’s great that a lot of these courses are getting remastered, have to keep in mind that these are 48 additional courses, not new ones like a lot of people have been saying. I like a lot of the old tracks, but I wish there were actual new tracks in this pass too. Regardless, I get why Nintendo did this, since this is still the best selling game of the series.
On one hand I'd like the tracks to look more like the other MK8D base tracks graphically, and I also would've liked some DLC characters to go with it since this basically means another few years without new characters to play. But at least there's coconut mall.
Yeah, I may sound petty because it's a SPECTACULAR deal for essentially a whole game's worth of courses, but they look just like their Tour versions. They're not very.... pretty. I had such high hopes for a stunning update of Coconut Mall. ^^;
I personally think that this was the better move for Nintendo to make. $25 for lots of additional content to a game with plenty of tracks and characters already is better than paying $60 for potentially less content. But that’s my opinion, I do respect the side of wanting Mario Kart 9.
@@itsmii7785 the thing is... Switch is 5 years old and already has good Mario Kart. Even I love MKs, i think this is much better solution than making another MK for "old" console. Especially when Mk8 has been selling well still.

I feel now the game has really earned the title “Deluxe” Prior to this DLC, the only thing that Deluxe had that was significantly different from 8 was the battle mode

Plus some new stuff like Netcode Rollback, More Old Single Player Modes, More New Characters (That aren't clones or worthless sword fighters), ect...................... If we all could just convince Nintendo to make that happen. That would be super nice and much appreciated.
This is awesome!… but I can’t help but nitpick and find the courses to appear a little too plastic and rushed. They kinda look like just a higher quality version of MKT. And why were the Coconut Mall escalators turned into basic ramps?! Hopefully future courses will have more going for them and be better looking, but nonetheless I’m excited.
@@mrconroy4672 this is true but it's just disappointing to see that these tracks are ripped straight from tour with no graphical changes other than lighting. There's so many fan favorite characters yet to be added into the game as playable drivers and Mario Kart 8 is now finally receiving a long lineup of content updates in new courses, giving players a much grander range of drivers along the way shouldn't be overlooked addition either.

Its.either that or Didst Kong racing.....or nothing at all
wish there were more racers or cars like the mercades benz collab. oh well this is nice too
@@Matanumi exactly. What would a whole new game even have? The same mechanics with new courses, right? I'd rather forgo a new game and just get new maps (and maybe new racers later on)
It's cool but sadly not pretty. It's a different art direction and these new courses don't fit into MK8. Would have loved if they didn't look like they are coming straight from the smartphone Mario Kart game. ://
It seems like every time I’m expecting a big announcement from Nintendo, they always drop the ball, and we are left saying “that sucks, but I guess I’ll take it.” New, more powerful switch? Here’s a cool screen. Pokémon remaster? Sure, but for $60.00. Mariokart 9? Nah, here’s “the tracks you love” in the game that you’ve owned for forever, for $25.00. It’s really such a shame.
@@bibs9127 They're getting away with more and more...
@@bibs9127 i feel like 9 wont be a thing and id be fine with it as long as they make additions like they did with smash. Maybe if they never make a 9th they'll add different modes to the game rather than the standard gliding and anti gravity
@@Alex-pq9rm Unless Tour is 9 and the next console MK game will be MK 10
I am here after Wave 6 got fully announced. It is crazy how far we've come since this got announced. This was definitely worth it!
I prefer old courses, especially ones from before Mario Kart Wii.
Best selling in the series? It's beyond that. It's becoming the best selling game for Nintendo, of all time.
“best selling game of the series” is an understatement at this point 😂
On one hand I'd like the tracks to look more like the other MK8D base tracks graphically, and I also would've liked some DLC characters to go with it since this basically means another few years without new characters to play.
But at least there's coconut mall.
Yeah, I may sound petty because it's a SPECTACULAR deal for essentially a whole game's worth of courses, but they look just like their Tour versions. They're not very.... pretty. I had such high hopes for a stunning update of Coconut Mall. ^^;
Another vote for DLC characters.
Mario Kart needs Piranha Plant back.

I’m so excited. Hope to see Toad’s Factory and Mushroom City.

They have done this before in past reveals. Let them work on it before release. Plus they can also put polish on the other waves before they come out.
I think this is a change they made in 7
@@mrconroy4672 this is true but it's just disappointing to see that these tracks are ripped straight from tour with no graphical changes other than lighting.
