I remember watching the cutscene for the first time. The empty town sent shivers down my spine. The man was so well animated; I could taste his cigar (even though I don't know what cigar tastes like). I still love this level.
was about to comment this. I used to not care about the Wild West music in TS2, but after someone commented it was awesome, I checked again, and it IS awesome. Right up there with NeoTokyo, Mansion of Madness from TS1, and Chinese Restaurant from TS1.
1:37 when I tried this mission on hard for the first time this punk near killed me because I simply wasn't expecting to be attacked right out the gate lmao
Only if you're seen as a time traveler and not as a person of that era. Since cortez is seen as, in this case, a wild west bounty hunter, and is actually seeing what was going on at that time period from thst person's pov, thrn technically HE'S not killing anybody, but elijah jones is
+ReverendSyn Also in the game you have objectives and if you do something incorrectly, forget to do something, or if you kill a person you're not supposed to, you will fail and you will have to restart the mission to continue. Basically if anything it seems as though they are altering the future for the good of mankind.
Guys, I just thought of this now, what about Future Perfect? I mean, in that game Cortez ISN'T changed to a different person and yet he's not fucking up the future.
I loved this stage SO much, I gave the enemies their own Cowboy/Wanted poster names. Like "Long Eyed Larry" (sniper) or "Duelin Denzil" (a guy at the end wielding 2 pistols).
Love this game, love this level. Fun fact: the date says 1853 but I believe this was supposed to be set either in 1863, as the colonel is supposedly a Confederate deserter. Most likely the change is a programming error.
I wish I could clone myself a billion times too make a high demand for the game to have a sequel. Also, anyone think Assassin's Creed was inspired by this game.
got to remember in those times transcontinental trade was only by sea and Euros(who started international slavery) only crossed the Atlantic by sea and were slow to explore all of the US by land especially since the rough terrain out west and rigid weather in the extreme north made it difficult to make a year round living. Basically the West and North north were fortunate to be isolated from the Southeast and Atlantic coastline. And the people lucky to cross the Mississippi got to enjoy life
This was 12 years ago, but for anyone interested, I just got Time Splitters 2 from the Xbox/Microsoft store for about $10. They think games like L4D are dead but you better bet they have gems like this still.
see i enjoy timesplitter 2 and 3, i dont mind the first one but it doesnt have a proper story plot like 2 and 3, in the 1st one its just to go grab something and run out, but 2 tells the story about the timesplitters and what their purpouse is
I remember using the same strategy of waiting in the tunnel at the end. You don't have much choice cuz it's basically suicide to walk out into the open.
Funnily enough what worked for me was going out in the open since I was dying in the tunnel and it worked because the npc’s from the right side would take a long route so you can anticipate and the tunnel enemies would miss their first shot lol ( I went to the right side outside the tunnel)
A Confederate colonel and a free black man roaming the Wild West in *1853* (aka, before the Civil War even began)? They really took an artistic license with this game, didn't they?
Dustin Stroud But the idea of the time travel in this game is that Cortez takes the form of anyone living of that particular time, which is why he's a different character in each level. So in that sense, yeah, it is a real Black person in that stage.
There's a theory that the Timesplitters in the first game fucked the timeline up so much that things that shouldn't have been possible then are so in the TS universe. Therefore, a free Black man in 1853 is completely possible, as is a Luger being usable by Viola in the Notre Dame level, as well as some enemies warping in to kill you mid level. The timelime is unstable at those points, so I'm guessing its the universe's efforts to maintain a stable timeline due to the fact that Sgt. Cortez is actively trying to unfuck the timeline, but is causing more destruction in the process in order to counter the chaos that our gray time travelers caused.
Jonathan Sancha Do you think the Splitters brought the Lugers to 1895? They could've picked them up from dead German soldiers during World War 1 and them give them to Jacque as a "gift".
@@bigsmoke1156 No lol but it does feel like I was doing the same thing but sadly it ain't happening since there's a tech demo someone found months ago and it definitely was awesome to see what we could have had if it was being worked on...
I'll bet that if timesplitters 4 ever gets made, it won't be as good as the last three. Like, the developers will try to needlessly modernize it or something.
I didn't notice it much back when I was playing this game but the intro cutscene feels really rushed. The wind is not very convincing without any dust, leaves or other particles flying through the air, the wanted poster and the slamming windows alone are not enough to properly convey it. Worse yet, the character clearly blows smoke from his cigar in that one scene but there is no smoke coming out at all. Maybe these effects were planned to be added later and the devs ended up not having time to do them but I don't think they were happy to leave the cinematic in this unfinished state.
yeh i bet it wont especialy when crytek makes it....besides how the hellis crysis better than timesplitters....no way in gameplay, multiplayer and in fun factor, not in a million years.
Crytek sucks. There will never be a huge industry demand for Timesplitters. They have all been made to cater the fans. Last time I checked, Far Cry 2 wasn't the hottest game out there, and yet there's a third in the making. Why did you even acquire free radical anyway? To piss on the Timesplitters fans?
I love how every western themed shooter always to some degree mimics the music style created by the master Ennio Morricone.
Well, it is iconic that way.
deus ex? crysis? dumbass

This level has the best music
Camey_Gamer Boi that creepy as fuck.... But yea, Notre Dame is pretty good
Ikr. I have it as my Ringtone.
Yes. And 2nd best: Siberia

Game has absolutely amazing music.. Definitely takes me back to my childhood
If you have PlayStation 4 or 5 you can buy them and replay them again !!!
This level has the best soundtrack

AYYY! It burns!
1:37 when I tried this mission on hard for the first time this punk near killed me because I simply wasn't expecting to be attacked right out the gate lmao
Exactly lmao. I dunno why the devs decided to immediately throw an enemy right at the start
He’s there on normal too
For the time i think it one of the best games ever!!! the graphics en music. This really takes me back a few years
Brilliant move with the gunpowder! Never thought to use it against the enemies like that.
The nostalgia.. puts a tear to my eye. Great game
Denzel Unchained
Wow this is amazing, the nostalgia is great. Hits me right in the feels
Your trap for the door was really clever!
Isn't killing people in the past one of the biggest "Don'ts" of time travel?
You could wreck the future
Sins it's a game,it would be no fun to see a different future.

Love this game they need to make timesplitters4! But the dude damn near ate his cigar 💀💀💀
I loved this stage SO much, I gave the enemies their own Cowboy/Wanted poster names.
Like "Long Eyed Larry" (sniper) or "Duelin Denzil" (a guy at the end wielding 2 pistols).
I loved that after you played a game on arcade it would tell you how bad you played. like calling you a coward or a hoarder
Your the best timespliters 2 sniper I know

2018 here
I wish I could clone myself a billion times too make a high demand for the game to have a sequel.

Among others
This level is the most nostalgic for me in the whole game :)
My favourite level this one
Sounds like ennio morricone wrote the music! Amazing!
This and Siberia have the best music imo
Revolvers were definitely overpowered in this game. Sci-fi handguns supposedly in the future should be better but it sucks.
A black guy freely roaming the streets in 1853??
That can't be right.
Ameen Ahmed Is it freely when he gets shot up around every corner?

this game looks like james bond in the nintendo64 really much
this game had some badass music
2023, we need a remake!
The original Red Dead

damn the nostalgia
This game on normal is insane, let alone hard.

+GundamFan527 he's not a real black guy, he's the white guy back in time

I was wondering why you put down the powder trail to the gate, and then it opened and I was like "....oh."

Nobody:
This nigga dead ass serious at 12 fkn am :
Today's the day I beat thimesplitters 2
Wait, how was the Colonal a Confederate deserter if it's 1853?
Anyone else prefer to use the single revolver to the dual one? Just feels better for when them nerds get too close for comfort
Coop with my dad 20 years ago
This level was definitely based on blazing saddles
Ah okay. Sorry, I didn't mean to sound ignorant; I guess I should brush up on my history sometime. Thanks man.
*Ricochet pew*
It's high noon folks
Not my Favorite level, but I didn't get this far in hard to learn all the ins and outs
lots of people towards the end
i wished i could play this in ps2 time :(
gotta love how the colonel deserted from the confederate army even though the American civil war won't start for another 8 years
Well he IS getting shot at...
I give up at this level unfortunately. At least the previous levels didn't cheat by spawning enemies in plain sight.
Django Unchained vibes
11:09 What you did there was way too risky..!
I WANT A NEW TIMESPLITTERS ! FUCK COD THAT'S WHY
Oi guys
THQ Nordic acquired Timesplitters this month
