That Giraffe hose looks really stiff. A lot of people hate this reel because it kinks the hose (even Flexzilla hoses) at the connection and leaks straight out of the box.

Yes. 2 layers of siding and plywood
My problem is not knowing what I’m drilling into. My stud finder sucks and before I drill into the siding I need to find the stud to hold the weight of my hose reel! How can one do this?
He didn't do it, don't worry about it, yours will fall off the wall like his will soon

Did you just randomly drill into the house and then drive the lags in? No concerns about catching a stud to hold the weight?
The house has 2 layers of plywood.
He will fix that after it falls off the wall
obviously you had no water or gas pipes or electrical wires in the wall where you drilled into or were you just lucky ??????
Nothing behind that wall. I made sure of it when I renovated the inside of the home.
