Thank you so much for putting it into context of its time.
I was 16 at the time and brought it on the day of release. I love this album and think it's a masterpiece.
Please Paul release it in the archive...... Please.
Thank you for this video , and the time you took to make it. I really enjoyed it.....and who knows at some point we'll get a proper version of Waterspout 😊

London Town is too my prefer Wings album. The voice of Paul is amazing in all the songs. In 1978 I was 12 y.o and was a great year to me. I’m Spanish, Barcelona, and also was the year of my first visit to my prefer city of the world; London. Thanks for a very interesting video.

Thanks Andrew… I admit there are some gems on this album but I rank it below back to the egg, Venus and Mars, wings at the speed of sound, and Band On the Run. But I would put it right in the middle of all of their albums. I have the new McCartney legacy volume one book checked out from the public library and it is fantastic… It is 700 pages long and it only covers three years!

Comprehensive summary, thanks. By the sound of things, 90% of the album was recorded as a 5 piece? From the timescales, Mull of Kintyre was recorded in August before Jimmy had left the band, but he wasn't on it?

Interesting to consider that this may have come out around or somewhat near the time that John was playing around with a song idea on his cassette boombox in NYC called "Now and Then".

I too love this record but must acknowledge there may be some nostalgia at play. It was the first Wings LP I bought on release (Venus & Mars was the first by the band I had) and is probably the one I've played most over the years. The only track I couldn't abide at the time was Girlfriend, which I tended to skip, although I've learned to grudgingly tolerate it now. I was more into heavy rock at the time but I always enjoy the folk sound Denny brought to LT.

Hi Andrew, thanks for a fine review. I bought the album on its original release, though I was disappointed with it at the time, I have grown to like it over the years. I always felt that Name and Address could have been a great rocker if it hadn’t been an Elvis homage and Mull / Girls School, plus Cage would have enhanced the album.

Hi Trevor, I honestly can't remember what my first wings album was. I think I got BOTR, LT, V&M and BTTE roughly around the same time. Out of of those BTTE is my fave, followed by LT, then V&M then BOTR.
Although back in the 80s I think V&M was top.
Thanks for watching maybe see you around sometime.

I'm sure it's still available on CD. It's available definitely on Spotify. There is no archive edition as I said in the video. I'm sure eventually it will get a half speed master release as that seems to be happening to earlier releases.

Hated Mull of kintyre. Hated it! But my dad told me it sold more copies at the time than any other 45rpm.
I recently discovered both Back to the Egg and London Town back in November, in anticipation of their archive boxsets this year (still hoping) and I love both albums! They’ve been in my rotation since November.
I didn’t know Girls School was part of London Town “sessions”, but I’ve loved that sing since my father played it for me when I was 12! Seems back in the 70’s Paul’s real rockers were on the singles; Girls School, Juniors Farm, etc.
I loved this video! I hope you’ll do a Back to the Egg deep dive next 🤞🏻 - ✌🏻 - Julia

I’ve always felt that the reason Paul shies away from this album and Egg is because of the rampant drug use. Denny Laine and Paul’s daughters could probably tell some interesting tales about these sessions that would probably embarrass him around his grandchildren. It would be many years after Egg before Paul would play in a band again, probably Flowers in the Dirt era as a career comeback.

I was 19 when this lp came out. I loathed it. Didn’t buy another McCartney lp till Flowers in the Dirt.
I find it hard to believe anybody really likes this lp. But i guess to each his own. But saying it’s better than well any other Wings lp including the deeply flawed but still better Speed of Sound seems insane to me.

I don't like this album. I note the puzzling John Heaton also rated this highly. IMHO there was only one really successful / satisfactory / consistent McCartney album - Band on the Run - a cliché - time will tell. The next best are: Flaming Pie, Off the Ground, Venus & Mars, Chaos & Creation. Most people rate Ram the top - not me (and not Ringo either, ha-hah)! My personal favourites are actually McCartney I & McCartney II. Cheers.
