    Absoloutely LOVE the Nex batons. They're beautiful, well-crafted, and fully-functional. I have this exact one for concealment, and I have the 39 inch for those hit-the-fan situations.

    Just wanted to point out that there is actually a significant difference between these (nex walker baton) and the other rubber handle version (nex quicker duty baton) you mentioned. These (walker) are geared toward a lighter use case, whereas the "quicker" models are much more robust "duty" level batons that are meant for harder use. The batons that you see in the videos of them beating them against concrete and generally abusing them are actually the nex quicker duty batons with the rubber handle grip.

    • @kds471
      @kds471 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have seen a couple of the Walker models beat against concrete and brick breaking them, and they still retract. In the end if it protects me and breaks I’m ok with it. I’ll just buy another.

    I purchased a NEX Walker 20 off the same website. Those people are fast. It took only two days for the baton to arrive.
    It is a quality product to be sure. There is some wobble to the extended baton but the high quality feel of it gives you confidence. Though manufactured in China, the manufacturer could not and would not be selling ineffective, flimsy expandable batons to the local police force. Just wouldn't happen.
    What I wanted most was the light weight and it does not disappoint. It is heavy enough to feel sturdy and durable but not so heavy that it discourages you from carrying it.
    I purchased a traditional, expandable, 21-inch steel, expandable baton from the Security Guard training academy where I got my official, legal baton carrying card. However, this expandable (collapsible) baton weighs a whopping 1.5 pounds. It feels heavier than my firearm. It's not easy or comfortable to carry but it is very durable and solid. There's almost no wobble. It is a pain in the azz to collapse even with the better technique of knocking the tip on concrete at a 45 degree or less angle to loosen the sliding components.
    In my state, ordinary citizens may not own an expandable or collapsible baton. The exceptions are law enforcement and security guards/officers. Security guards/officers must possess a valid, non-expired, state-issued Security Guard Registration Card and a state-issued baton card. The baton card allows legal ownership of expandable and non-expandable batons. A security guard/officer in my state can only carry their batons openly on their belts and while on duty. You can't carry it on your person in civilian clothing. People in other states are much more fortunate in being legally allowed to own and carry an expandable/collapsible baton.
    The penalty in my state for illegal ownership of an expandable or non-expandable baton is 3 years in prison and a fine up to 10,000 dollars.

    • @meltdown537
      @meltdown537  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the input! Yeah it feels sort of wobbly, but it really feels like it's part of the design and not just because it's cheap. It opens and closes so smoothly, is light and easy to carry. I just wish the company made a holster for it that wasn't brown leather. I have had some issues finding a proper holster for it because it is a little thinner than standard batons. I find it interesting that there are so many restrictions where you are. Thanks for sharing! Let me know what kind of holster you are using because this thing is a bit big to just comfortably toss in my pocket.

    I may take a closer look at the Nex... I have the ASP 16" all steel Agent w/push button closure, but it's heavy and takes a good deal of force to fully deploy. We were issued the friction lock ASPs in the service, but you had to slam the tip everytime you went to close it. PITA ! From this video it appears that the Nex deploys easier...?

    • @meltdown537
      @meltdown537  ปีที่แล้ว

      The next deploys very smoothly. I haven't tried the ASP, but I have a couple steel friction locks and this operates much smoother.

    I have the nex walker 20 inch aluminum baton and its very good and solid. Had the 16 steel baton version but I wanted a long one and a lighter baton so I bought this 20 inch aluminum baton. However, sometimes I get a little worried of my baton getting wet like in the rain for example or it falls in the water by accident. So I was wondering, can it withstand water but still function normally also? It does says "hard wearing" but I still wonder if it can withstand water too?

    • @meltdown537
      @meltdown537  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a good question and I am not positive. I know that I had a steel baton that stopped functioning as well after it got wet. I assume that it should be ok because aluminum doesn't really rust. (although there are some steel components internally)

    • @meltdown537
      @meltdown537  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think they should be wobbling. It's not friction lock so they won't stick in place the same way as a friction lock baton will. So the pieces will still rotate fairly freely
