- Hello! Unfortunately, this video was meant to go up on Halloween but my personal life got in the way and time got away from me. Apologies!
Anyway, this is the FORMER Tower of Terror pre-show/library video that played on the small TV just before you would enter the rest of the queue at Disney California Adventure (and Disneyland Paris)

Only difference between the DCA version and WDW HWS version are the exterior shots of the ride building.

Let’s face it, the way the compose the new building into the scene is just not the same... they really tried but it just doesn’t feel like the o.g. It is sorta like when George Lucas changed all the Star Wars scenes.
Yeah... the outside exterior tells us THIS version of the HTH has 3 shafts... But the interior is the EXACT same as the WDW version... 2 guest elevators, and not even properly aligned. But we are apparently supposed to believe when the lightning strikes the building, we are actually in one of 3 elevators instead of 2... Makes no sense
Y’all literally drag anything at DCA’s tower as if Florida’s tower in the preshow looks like the actual building…and aren’t Florida’s lobby elevators literally offset from the main tower portion itself…?…
@@HWStrashcanlogo In terms of the preshow, yes the Orlando preshow has the better tower. After looking at it for awhile, I think the Orlando preshow is either a physical model or a matte painting which gives it more realism with how that effect would have been done for the actual twilight zone series. I think that DCA should have done the same thing with the painting or at the very least not have those awkward camera angles / movements that ultimately couldn’t have been achieved in the original series. I mean even if they made a 3D modeled matte paint I think it would have looked better. Bottom line, they didn’t, it’s really not that big of a deal, it’s just sorta a missed opportunity. By no means was the DCA tower not impressive, while it didn’t include everything from the Orlando counterpart it still did it’s job. And yeah idk what that guy was on about with the elevators…

I'm curious if you have the rain and thunder audio that played out the library window before the video and then would sync with the thunder cues during the video. A random bit of detail, but it was the only "improvement" I found between the DHS version and this. Anyway, thanks as always for these rare bits of audio and video. Still hard to believe this is now an extinct attraction at DCA. It felt like such a staple. Thanks for preserving it here!

Has anyone ever noticed there is a corner circular roof (0:38) in the top right corner of the lobby, beside the HTH banner, but the real lobby doesn’t have that.

The tower of terror pre show actually used a different lobby! While recording, the tower of terror was still in construction, so they used a different lobby on set while recording the pre show.
I skipped 15 seconds in the intro so rod said “Beyond it - the twilight zone”
How do you keep getting this stuff? Does Disney really let you take these recording without a fight?

I’m gonna give everyone who is saying that since dca’s version is gone and that we can just go to Florida or Paris a piece of my mind which is that nobody including me would ever want to travel from California to either of those 2 places only just to do nothing except for going on a ride.

Yeah, I think the old one with the more realistic version of the building is a bit better, the 3d model of the building in this is kinda cheesy.
The FL one looks like a model they would use in the show (The Twilight Zone) to represent the hotel. The DCA/WDS one looks fake.

I’ve always laughed at how frigging stupid the DCA tower looked “before” the storm. There’s no way in hell anyone could even read the sign with those massive chunks of building in the way

@@HWStrashcanlogo Its based on spanish arcitecture that would've been used during the time period that this ride takes place in. Also, it improves the sightlines at epcot, since we have a morocco pavilion that's directly in front of the hotel.

@@Crimson_Snake1 What I'm saying is that this ride, while it is great (and the Easter eggs are actually pretty damn cool), is shit at representing The Twilight Zone. If you knew nothing about The Twilight Zone and someone showed you this commercial (th-cam.com/video/EnINPOirACs/w-d-xo.html) and told you that it was for a ride based on probably the most groundbreaking psychological thriller shows of all time would you believe him?
