directing might count as part of pacing, but this anime also has incredible camera framing and 'shot composition' - or whatever it's called. The focus on feet and walking gait to show vitality and intention, also minor character/human mannerisms, and little emotional details through movement that aren't normally focused on in animation

@@SoraWorkerDroneGandalf is funny case his mortal shell will die but his core an immortal Lessor God/Angel who existed in Heaven effectively called Timeless Halls before Middle Earth existed.
But it true he did die after killing the Balrog and lay dead on the mountain top till the Gods/angels in the West revived him as a part spirit for Eagle to find and bring down. The Balrog also a fallen god/Angel like Gandalf so it’s spirt also survived but rejected by the west it’s master confined in a different prison dimension it’s spirt to weak to effect mortals except maybe as a bad dream.
So Gandalf spoke the truth he would die and have days laying dead on the mountain top to ponder that condition unknowing of his fate would he be removed from Middle Earth for good and freed from his mortal shell would he return to what he was before the shell put on or would some of the Mortal Gandalf Remain.
Especially if you consider how Frieren cried when he died. And she's on her path to see him again in heaven (Ende). Them meeting will be super embarrassing

Himmel, the most impactful side character in anime history
The funny part about it was that he mostly appeared through Frieren’s memories & flashbacks.
True even after death.
Frieren might be the MC, Serie might be the most powerful (that we know)
But Himmel and Flamme were by a landslide, the most impactful characters in the show.
Anime history is a bit much
Flamme and Serie are also pretty influential side characters 😂
This adaptation was one of the best, I am grateful to have been a part of the weekly discussions. Can't wait for season 2!
Advocate all your prayers to it tho. MADHOUSE is known to not renew animes and let them drop after Season 1. Granted, Frieren has been such a huge success, it would be stupid to not renew it. However they dropped One Punch Men after S1 and that one was a success, too.
This anime is slept on a lot. But this anime is so amazing. The world building is on par with jobless.

This seemed to have come out of nowhere. It easily became my favorite anime in the past year. An example of a well polished work of art.
Been around for a while. It was one of the most hyped up mangas for a while, same with Dungeon Meshi!

Himmel surpasses a peak, it means sky/heaven.
When you sit down to write a story and it becomes a cultural phenomenon; shaking up an entire genre of anime. And those lines and drawings upon sheets and sheets of paper that then meta morph into a multitude of frames within cinema; giving us not just entertainment, but a beautifully worded reminder on the brevity of life. We can be here for many years. But we are only here for a short while.
Any and all praise that the writer has gathered is rightfully earned. Frieren has easily become one of my favourite stories of all time and across all types of storytelling.

@@garrettlowe4362 Yeah, Crunchyroll always panders to shonen junk. Whatever gets teenagers the most hyped tends to get all the attention, probably because they spend the most money on merch. Meanwhile, the biggest haters of of Frieren are those same teenagers because they can't identify with a wise character, only a "zany" teenager that gets into at least one fight per episode. They're too young to appreciate the sentiment and emotion of a show like Frieren.

Easily Anime of the Decade. No other Fantasy anime has come close to what Frieren has given us in the past Decade.

What an experience that was this anime…one of the best first seasons that I ever watched. Characters,adaptation,music,story and the amazing message about time,absolutely everything was perfect!

I would gladly wait another 3-4 years for a second season of this show. Nothing short of beautiful.
It needs that amount of time to reach this quality,I don't want it rushed. Hopefully madhouse picks it back up.
I'd actually be deeply concerned if they announced season 2 anytime soon. I very much want a season 2, but not if it means sacrificing the quality.
In the meantime I'll be picking up any physical media release of season 1. And that's something I very rarely do.

Frieren’s adaptation was absolutely gorgeous, looking forward to more seasons
Everything about Frireren was great. The Action, the Drama, the WRITING, The emotions, Visuals, Music, and the acting. It hit all the boxes and pushed them far and beyond other series in the fantasy genre. Only once in every other decade do you get something as special as this. It makes you think about life and moves you to hold onto old memories. not many series can do that. Frieren did.
This isn’t a trailer, no its a statue for future generations to remember.
Please give us a second season 😭🙏🏻

Season 2 had been confirmed since before season 1 ended. It's a passion project and the person waited fr the series to finish to do the whole thing. It's coming.

There's enough chapters for a second season,but it's probably gonna take around 2 or 3 years for it to come out
The memorial trailer simply brought tears to my eyes. This anime is truly exceptional. It's been my pleasure for the last few weeks to watch it and wait for it with great impatience.
Frieren literally came out of nowhere and became one of my top 5 favorite anime of all time. Just an amazing adaptation and cannot wait for more.
Exactly the same with me. It's was a very rewarding experience that will stick with me for the rest of my life 😊

One of the greatest masterpieces of Storytelling nowadays, watching Himmel so lively in Frieren's memories can only make me emotional as I also remember the dear ones from my past
The first season just ended and I'm already filled with a longing like for something that's been with me forever and that I can't stand to ever be apart from.
It just shows how amazing this series was. I hope the journey to Ende resumes soon...

My little brother introduced me to this series, and I was immediately hooked! The narrative, music, animation (I'm learning animation in school, and I'm just consistently blown away by the skill of the show's creators); this series is really top-tier. We basically marathoned it together over the course of a few days, until I was all caught up; and watching the season finale together was just so awesome! I absolutely love the dynamic between the main characters; as someone who has lost a lot of people (like I am sure many of you have), I really appreciate how deeply the story has been able to tackle the tangled ball of emotion grief is, and the incredible miracle of having known someone. Our lives continue to impact each other's, even after we're separated by death or distance.
This show has easily got its way into my top 10 anime of all time, its beautiful and has everything one can be looking for. I really hope MADHOUSE comes back for season 2 even if they are not notorious for that. We need seasons 2 ASAP. I love Frieren and Himmel.

But something about the show was different from episode 1, let alone first 4.
I realized that everything was set for this anime to be a good, a very good show.
And by episode 27, when HIMmel revealed that Flamme's flower field spell was the beginning of the end to a story of a hero that we didn't get to know...
I was in shock. I realized that In mere 27 episodes, I was gazing at the birth of a modern masterpiece, and I will gladly be rooting for it to be anime of the year.

I wholeheartedly agree,I saw trailers for it and thought "hmm looks cool" then I saw how people were praising the trailers for adapting it so well so I thought I had to give it a try. Modern masterpiece is certainly an apt word for it. If it continues like this, it'll become one of my all time favorites.

Without a doubt my favorite anime last season and that by a landslide and one of the most beautiful anime I've ever seen. If season 2 continues with this type of quality, it has potential to be my favorite anime of all time. Literal 10/10 perfect masterpiece

I went into watching Frieren curious because I am a fantasy nerd, and ended up falling in love with a journey about coping with loss and appreciating the time you have.
This series was something special. I'm still thinking about it since it ended.
Just saw this show for the first time over the last couple of weeks. Loved the story and characters, very melancholic and enjoyable.
Looking forward to any further video media of the story in the future.
This came out of no where for me and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. It is now what I personally consider the best anime ever.

This anime is one of the calmest and most greatest animes to exist
Frieren is the literal definition of peak anime. Amazing story telling, pacing, soundtrack, animation and adaptation. No split season, recap episodes or delays. All while releasing not 12,13,24,26 but 28 episodes. Reminds me of the time when gaming studios used to release complete triple A video games.
Frieren just ended, was it over week ago? But holding a Memorial seems wildly appropriate as I am still in the early stages of grief. After 6 months on the path, the absence of Frieren Fridays has completely thrown off my sense of rhythm and balance, like daylight savings time. Title Kun deserves a raise for his consideration.

Every word comes from himmel is heavy... So many things to learn.. In this animie himmel is my fav character.. Actually I used to wait when will flashback start.. I know his voice was really great, personality great, music was super great too.. But I guess his dialogue was the most beautiful one.. Every word seems like a magic for me.. Author really saves best lines for him..

There are plenty of stories that tell you to live in the now. This one tells you to reflect on what you've gone through and use that to realize impacts from then and and what you can impact now. Appreciate the time you spend with those you surround yourself, however long that may be, the positive , the negative. May you find a thing that brings you comfort, happiness, satisfaction, rest.

Frieren is amazing. One of my favourite anime. But Demon Slayer is still obviously number 1 for best fantasy when awards roll around (words laced with venomous sarcasm)

Now that it's finished, im left genuinely heartbroken, like a partner dumped me with the its not you its me line. Im struggling to pick up watching anything else. I think im actually grieving this master piece, in its absence, it's left a giant hole in my heart.😭
The fact that we got a full first season of episodes on top of all the quality is what blew me away. A whole freaking season ya'll!

I saw Frieren in the thumbnail and trailer in the title and my heart dropped… and then reality sunk in. Madhouse absolutely BLEW ME AWAY with this adaption, and I’m desperately praying for season 2 - as unrealistic or unlikely as it may be

I just finished watching Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. I am absolutely in LOVE with this anime!!! It is one of the best anime that I've ever seen, and is officially my second favorite anime ever!! Frieren is a gorgeous, emotional, and very beautiful anime! This is a series that I believe everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime. As a longtime lover of the fantasy genre, I knew that I had to check it out eventually. I can't wait for season two😊💜
