- In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to use Duik Pins to control any After Effects spatial property like puppet pins, and Bézier paths too.

Wow! A really nice lesson full of unexpected insights. Thanks
Thank you!
thanks
Thank you very much for the tutorial, when I generate pins in a mask or a shape layer, it does not place the handlers, where can I configure that option?
Press the ALT key when creating the pins ;)
@@rxlab i'll try! thanks
Awesome work! But I cannot see tangents in the bones of my shapes [14:28], pin button don't create controllers for them. Pherhaps is there a bug in 17.0.0, 17.0.1, 17.0.2? ----> EDITED: In 17.0.2. Discovered that I have to clik ALT, seems it is the opposite than the tooltip, but no problem.
Yes we changed that because with the new version, even if the tangents are not created you can still control them with the rotation & scale of the vertex, and that's enough in most cases ;)
"Unlocking tangents" seems to be an irrelevant checkbox now then it would seem? @@rxlab
Oh! Holding down option key when clicking 'ad pins' gets them back. Great! ))... if/when I finally get my head around this I will become a supporter. I promise )
Does anyone know how to ensure that a purple square does not appear at the vertices and instead appears as it did in the video? please
how i connect the arm to body with puppet rig?
You parent the highest property (usually the shoulder) to the main body using After Effect's native parenting system.
Hi, When I use the pins on a shape layer and animate it, I have a residual stroke that stays unanimated. Do you have any ideas what i'm doing wrong?
Thank you. I didn't know Duik has a puppet tool. But I still don't get why I should use duik's puppet pins over native after effects pins..
In my work, sometimes, I get full images of characters in pngs, not individual layers. Do you suggest puppet tool for rigging and animation or bones tool?
The heck are you talking about??? DUIK does not create its own puppet pins, the puppet pins Duik uses are the native AE puppet pins, but it also adds very convenient control structures in order to manipulate the pins in a much much easier way than how you would do it natively. I mean even just being able to quickly set up and control all the pins via their own layers is much easier than having to manually open up your pins on your puppet pin effect and fighting with the dropdown behaviour of nested objects in effects within AE
