Thank you for this step by step guide. It was simple and easy to follow. Using steam OS in deskmode was like constantly stubbing my toes. Also for anyone interested, in the additional tablet settings you can set it up to always use onscreen keyboard when a keyboard isnt attached. It will skip trying to resize windows for tablet mode and all the other junk.
This was seriously an awesome video. I used this to get Windows on my deck and you also helped with the SD card not registering. I waited to get a deck until the kinks were worked out with Windows and now it’s not just a great gaming handheld, but a great PC. A lot of games weren’t supported on Steam OS, so I lept at the chance to download Windows. Still need to check out the latest video for controller support. Thank you brother!
I tried installing this way through usb drive but it was not showing in boot manager. Trued with many usb drive and other cables but no success. Then someone told me about Ventoy app which is free to download which creates a bootable drive. Then i copied windows ISO file on it then magically it appeared on boot mamager and I installed windows. So if someone can't load usb on boot manager this will help
For some reason both the install and setup for the internet drivers don’t seem to do anything? It’ll say that the driver is installed, but no connections pop up at all. Would love some help on this!
So no one has had issue with this install. I follow the steps to get on flash drive and boot into manager. After I delete the partions and next it gets to like 18% and fails. Stating files can not be found. I have powered off and tried multiple times at this point with same result. Also Im trying t install windows 10 home if that matters. Any help please

If you are getting windows with the sd card in and when you remove the sd card windows is gone but steam is is still there then you installed it on the sd card
It would've been nice to know that when you put windows 10 on your usb, it overwites everything... Lost everything on it, is was an important usb with years of backed up work... I don't even know what specifically I lost but i'm pretty sure it is one of my more important usbs. So that sucks, I don't know if the process of doing that is common knowledge in wiping everything but it was unexpected to me. Unless it was stated and I missed it

Hey brotha I love the video, setting this thing up now but ran into a lil hiccup. Now I got to the point of extracting the first AMD drivers, I went ahead and restarted like you did here 3:50 and ran into an infinite Steam Logo on powering it on, so far i tried to reboot it in bios mode like earlier to see if I could start it through there but the shortcut (Volume +, ... Button, then Power) didn't work. I'd hate to have this sitting around like a potato since I just recently picked it up :/. Any guidance you could give me?? Aight bruh, responding back just 10 minutes later 😅. I literally just held the power button a few seconds and the shit restarted to the windows login screen. Thanks again for the guide!

I noticed others online having a similar issue even just loading the SteamOs but getting to the bios page helped. Btw when getting windows this way, would you recommend buying a Windows license? Aside from personalization, I see there could be some security updates and bug fixes that I’d be missing out on

It’s just trying to get you to buy it. You can use it freely but windows will have a annoying watermark in the bottom right corner. That’s it. Can use everything else as normal

I can't install on primary, and there's 10.gb of unallocated space that I can't delete. Does anyone have this issue ??
Google cmd unallocated storage and you'll find a tutorial on getting that storage space back

Just didnit on the 64gb model, installing windows updates now, planning on upgrading to a 1tb ssd but for now the 64gb model installed just fine

no Bios is stored on the motherboard. you are deleting info off the SSD.
