- In this episode, we will visit Khlong Toei, the largest slum in Thailand. This neighborhood is also known as the most dangerous in Bangkok. I'll be exploring with Thai girl Jean, and we'll find out if it's dangerous to go there. Additionally, I'll share the history of the area with you

As a Bangkok resident of 27 years, I wouldn't advise people to wander randomly through any run down Bangkok community to make TH-cam clips. These are people's homes and they are not always happy to see their poor environment shown on TH-cam. Make friends with local people from that community first - like volunteer to help on a project - and then let them invite you into their community. Much safer and in my opinion more polite way of entering such an area.
Long tme in Bkk :) how is it after that time ? How it changed ? I was actually thinking of going back to Klong Toei and teaching kids skateboarding
@@HomelessPelican I think more Thais are familiar with foreigners these days due to high numbers of tourists in the past 25 years.
Bangkok is a more developed city, but there is still plenty of the old Bangkok from the old red buses to river boats to street vendors.
The younger generation have a more extensive knowledge of English vocabulary - good and bad words - largely due to the Internet and playing video games.
I like the 40-70 year age group the most as they still retain many of the values I saw when I first came here.
Kids would love skateboarding and kids love to kick soccer balls around too. Football is something everyone can join in with, although finding space to play is at a premium.

These slum areas in Thailand are so Philippines! They look exactly the same as the ones here, particularly in Tondo, Manila.
Just like Filipinos, Thai people find ways to keep themselves joyful despite of the sad environment that they have as seen from those kids playing around outside of their homes.

Poverty can be found in most places around the world. It is sad to see people living like this, in these very unsanitary conditions. Hopefully in time, the Thai government, and other governments around the world, can lift their poverty stricken people to an easier and better lifestyle. The adults, and especially the children seemed very content and quite happy with their lives, living in these poor conditions. We must remember that these people do not miss the material things in life that they never had. They are happy and content with the little that they do have, and don’t expect more. This video was fun, interesting, and educational. Plants and flowers are beautiful, but your girlfriend out shown them all! 👏💯🏆👍😁
I was thinking that when I come back, I should set some kind of activity there; for example, teach those kids skateboarding once a week. They were really excited about skateboarding! In general, those were some of the most "friendly" slums I have ever been to! Thank you for your comment and support, as always
