YOU DO THAT!!! Trust me! I started doing it like 2 weeks ago literally because of Emily. And all I ever created before that were drawings - pencil or ballpen or charcoal. And this was me stepping into a whole other universe, because prior to that I was afraid of color - it seemed like there was this vast amount of space to make a mistake. I ended up figuring out that it's incredibly calming. It teaches you patience. There is something so ZEN in watching the color being spilled and evened out. I loved watching Emily do it so I thought there was nothing to lose (other than 10 bucks tops) and a lot to gain if I were to try. This was literally my first time ever being inspired in such a way by a random person on the internet which I stumbled upon and started following *literally* 10 days before I bought my first ever watercolor set. And I love it! Sure there are ups and downs, just like with learning any other skill, but don't let that discourage you. I was a quitter by nature for my 26 years on this Planet and I usually had this idea that if I weren't excelling in something as fast as I thought I was supposed to, I simply dropped it in a matter of months and later on days. This happened with dancing, with singing, with learning how to play the guitar, and later on the piano, with stepping up my chess game, with literally EVERYTHING that demanded repetition and patience. And this is the first time ever that I simply put my hands up and let the flow take me wherever it is that I end up in the end. So, trin trin, you better google up the closest art supplier to you and buy your ticket to Trying Out New Stuff! //Emily also has videos on art supplies so check those out before spending moneyz. I figured that before mastering this to a certain level I was going to use the most basic drawing paper for elementary school students, and it works just fine!// THANK YOU EMILY! This technique has really helped me with my portraits for my GCSE art and even my more illustrative stuff, so thank you Emily! (I also appreciate a more detailed tutorial)

OMG thank you for this technique! I'm coming from using alcohol markers and have been struggling so much with watercolors to get those soft/blendy edges. Please do make this a series!
Excellent video! You really get into the ins and outs of this very challenging technique. We always called removing paint with a dryish brush is called "lifting". You lift the paint with the brush, like you are literally picking it up.
Ilah Jarvis Lifting is just the process of lifting pigment, I was referring to the entire process as something that was nameless. However, someone reminded me that the entire start-to-finish process is called pulling! I forgot about that! Lifting really only refers to the final part of the technique.
Wow I literally just do this technique and didn’t know it was a watercolor thing. I used to do tattoos and that’s how I did some of my flash art, but recently getting into watercolor and gouache a lot more, it just feels so second nature if that makes sense.

These are so much fun! My son loves this style of art soooo much, I may have to borrow some inspiration from you for his birthday! Thank you for always sharing the love and bringing the awesome to the art world! 💖🌈🏴
I would love to know more techniques that you use!please make more of these videos. I learned so much!!
I am an art student and I have been trying to practice watercolor, but have been having some trouble like all beginners. Your videos really help me. Its up to you if you want to make tips into a series, but i think thry would be helpful to your viewers. Love you keep up the great work!💜
Yes please!!! more watercolor techniques! I love your video style and commentary
OMG thank you for this technique! I'm coming from using alcohol markers and have been struggling so much with watercolors to get those soft/blendy edges. Please do make this a series!
Thank you Emily for teaching me something new, I tried adding this in the background of a flower and it instantly gave my painting depth 😍
Before this I had been using a dry brush to pick up extra pigment and water, I’m pretty sure I learned it from you! And now I know even more!
You, my dear, are a gift and a blessing, thank you!!
I would love more watercolor tips like this. Loved this video.
Lifting really only refers to the final part of the technique.
art momma! yess! i missed your videos so much! PLEASE make this a series. it would be SO helpful. :D
A series would be amazingly helpful. I'm still a little baby when it comes to watercolor and watching you really inspires me.💕💕
Wow I literally just do this technique and didn’t know it was a watercolor thing. I used to do tattoos and that’s how I did some of my flash art, but recently getting into watercolor and gouache a lot more, it just feels so second nature if that makes sense.
love it .......... and yes please to the series as this was quite helpful!!! Appreciate and love all that you do !!!
Please do more technique videos! This is really great. Thanks for all you do!
Yes ,please make this a series so I can learn all the techniques!
I would definitely love to see more videos like this. I’m still a beginner and I would love to learn more techniques.
I had already started to attempt this technique cause I saw you using it so much. :) I'm really glad you made this into a full blown video to explain the process a bit, and would love to see other tutorial videos!
Yasssss definitely would love a serious, I literally gone out and bought watercolour paints and everything cause of you, you’ve made me so inspired, i know I not going to be the best but I want to be able to use art to help ease my anxiety ❤️❤️❤️
I would really like a series! You've always been my main inspiration when it comes to watercolor painting, both in technique and in just getting myself to paint lol so a series of your other techniques would be super helpful I think
