In 1989, artists from Pink Floyd, Queen, Rush, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Yes, Iron Maiden, Free and others joined forces to raise funds for people affected by the Armenian earthquake. Kerrang called it "the greatest array of hard rock talent every assembled".
Organised by Jon Dee, the remake featured David Gilmour, Brian May, Tony Iommi, Ritchie Blackmore, Alex Lifeson and Chris Squire on guitars. On vocals it had Ian Gillan, Bruce Dickinson, Paul Rogers and Bryan Adams. Keith Emerson and Geoff Downes played the keyboards and Roger Taylor played the drums.
This is the official promo video for the 2010 Wermut & Dee remix of the track. The song was released worldwide - it successfully raised funds to rebuild a children's music school in Gyumri in the Armenian earthquake zone. Today the new school teaches music to 220 children a year!

RockAidArmenia that's the best one 💪
And they say that Infinity war is the greatest crossover ever. Smh.
Iron Maiden, Queen, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd performing the same song?? That was the best idea I seen in many years... WAS AWESOME!!!
barbarosoria 13 Not to mention Tony Iommi and Paul Rodgers.
Too many cooks spoil the stew.
Also Alex Lifeson is in the video. 5:17
And black Sabbath.
You forgot Black Sabbath too
SMOOOOOOOOOKE ON THE WAAAAATAH woops
lmao
the most underrated video in the history of humanity
EVC TH-cam. That and "we are stars"
Yes (pun intended)
It’s underrated for people that do not like good music
This was good stuff! All that talent.
This should be called 'When the Gods Played"
I agree with SNAFU
You're absolutely right!
Tony Iommi, Brian May, David Gilmour, and Ritchie Blackmore playing on the same track. Holy shit.
ikr. My mind exploded just my looking at the title.
ShortFingeredShreder No fucking kidding!...What are the chances of putting these guys together in a life time?
ShortFingeredShreder About Lifeson man he's badass too!!
I hate when people overlook Lifeson!
Yup
This is like an All Star Game of Rock Legends.
Indeed! Thanks for watching!
Brian May has the most distinctive guitar sound on the track. In a blindfold test I wouldn’t know who else was on it!
100%! Thanks for Watching!
You've not listened to much 'Blackmore' then.
You should be able to make out DG and TI blondfold too.
you could tell the Iommi rhythm parts
gilmour has the most distinct sound and ritchie bmoore has such a distinct sound toi.
If you ever think you're sick of hearing people play this in a guitar store, just imagine what this recording session was like
I’m a little disappointed that David Gilmour didn’t get that much time to shine
Wyatt Leatherman same
Deep Purple, Queen,Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd .....the gathering of the legends
And Iron maiden as well
Brian May laying down his orchestral guitar riff. Signature move.
Iommi's tone is so easy recognizible
As is Brian May's!
Victor Ouriques Jeff Becks the most.
Can't mistake Blackmore leads either.
because of his leather fingers
its the one with the most reverb
Best thing about this -- tons of singers and guitarists-- One Bassist
+pgsticker And one guy on Hammond.
Yeah, but there are a handful of bassists where you'd only need one, and Squire is one of those.
and the best..
Keith Emerson - May he RIP
DameonJessey don't you dare! It's fucking Chris squire!!! They both Rest In Peace nov 😓
I would have a fucking heart attack if I saw all those legends in one room...
Clockwork Girl I'd burst into flames
Same
OMG... Legends Legends Legends
Tony Iommi, Brian May, Bryan Adams, David Gilmour, and Ritchie Blackmore playing on the same track. awesome
Bruce Dickinson: "Smoooke on the Waaate-Whoops!" :D
Bruce just can't be serious than more of two minutes.
and because of that I love him.
Angelique Laforese CT vi vi no vi
Blackmore, Iommi, Gilmour, and May... guitar gods!
F**k yeah!
With Alex Lifeson to fill in the gaps!
Members of Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Rush, Queen, Yes and Iron Maiden together....holy fucking shit!!!!
Sad to think that Freddie was alive at this point, but probably too ill to turn up. I think that from the way Brian looks at times, it might be wearing down on him.
WOW!!!! Keith Emerson, Chris Squire and Alex Lifeson in the same Band.
Bruce Dickinson is on fire!
haha yeh!
Yeah ! *-*
Isnt he allways ? :)
He is THE BEST singer that have existed on earth, what did you expected from the GOD Bruce Dickinson?
ExG_RockN'Metal Lyric videos and more \m/ Best metal singer.
I'll say, seeing Gilmour, May and Iommi playing together is like a unicorn moment.
In this song Brian May is extraordinary
The level of badassery is immense
Absolutely!!!

Man Brian May killed it!
Imagine Freddie's vocals on this GAME OVA
Brian's guitar, so beautifully distinctive, it stood out amongst that revered crowd
Brian May with The Red Special can outsing the Singers !
i honestly believe Brian May is absolutely out of this world....you can see how Gilmour smiles after Brian has just had another light-of-speed solo......that is totally unbelievable...i love Brian style...totally unique, so so fucking beautiful!
Thanks, but please: _GET. THE. FLIPPIN'. NAME. RIGHT... _Rock on!_
Dr. Sir Brian Maiden (OBE, PHd, \m/)
*Knight-Protector of Her Majesty's Badgersty | Royal Axeman of Queen | Inventor of Accidental Speed Metal (1974) | Timelord*
Brian's Red Special should be an instrument in and of itself... there's literally nothing else like it.
4:05 - Gilmour: "wtf, this guy is the best".4:06 - Brian: "thank´s, I know".
Luis Carlos Prandini I like this one
gilmour > may
Luis Carlos Prandini respect
May > gilmour=overbends
Gilmour is much better than Brian May.....He has greatest solos like Comfortably numb,High hopes,Dogs,Time e.t.c
You know you've been a Queen fan for too long to know when Brian and Roger is playing without even watching the video.
Yup. His unique guitar sound makes me realized "Are Brian May on the guitar?" and i rewind the video and true. He played the guitar
Yep, because Brian built his guitar, it has an absolutely unique sound...unmistakeable when you hear it.
you will burn for dissing the Old Girl Red Special. I can't wait...Aug 2nd they're coming to Nashville. I have floor seats next to the runway. If Brian does anything acoustic I'll be 10ft away.
That's how I felt except it was with Iommi and Dickinson because I've been a Sabbath and Maiden fan for as long as I can remember. They stick out like a sore thumb, definitely not in a bad way.
Justin Hoglund Iommi and Gillan!!🖒
I saw May, Gilmour, Iommi and Blackmore together, now i can rest in peace
With Squire on bass, and Dickinson on vocals! And I would also add with Lifeson on Rhythm.
4:03 David Gilmour on Bryan Mai "PERFECT" :))
This is the Best version of Smoke on the Water.
FUSION ROUSH
Now only if they had had some better drums, and an Iommi solo...
Made in Japan... This is a funny version.
Made in japan? dude thats the best live version EVER
sounds like a Guitar center in the beginning
drstatic401 sounds like Rock University :-)
R.I.P. Chris Squire!
hatmap Having Chris in the studio was the biggest highlight of organising the whole Rock Aid Armenia project for me. Having dinner with him and Geoff after was a Yes fans dream :)
Thanks for posting on the video. Best regards, Jon Dee
hatmap I had absolutely no idea Chris Squire had passed away.. The rock world just lost one of the best bassists in the history of rock music..
RockAidArmenia: wasn't there a "mayhem" mix of this that most heavily featured the playing of Brian May,or is my memory playing tricks on me?
hatmap iii
Yes is such an amazing band
I was a baby in Armenia when the earthquake struck. Forever grateful
Internet done right...
That is called a major super group!!
"Cream" of the crop.
Paul Rodgers What an incredible voice
Paul Rogers is a great singer but I really didnt like him singing Smoke on the water. Interesting fact about Paul Rogers is that Ritchie Blackmore wanted him in Deep Purple to replace Ian Gillan before finally settling on David Coverdale. Paul coundn't do it because Bad Company had just been formed.
Stunning assembly of Rock Gods. What a sound. Roger Taylor kicking ass on drums - he would have rocked on vocals and added a whole other dimension. Brian May making the Old Lady sing and showing the rest what for. Nice legs too.
The God's of rock n roll have spoken.
CHRIS fucking SQUIRE on bass, guys....
The guy was a friggin savage on the bass
Giacomo Tarkus Sannino no mistaking THAT BASS GUITAR!!!
Fuckin amazing
Brian fucking May
Roger Fucking Taylor
Tony fucking lommi
Please, David fuckin' Gilmour
Smoke on the Water - шедевр и хит на все времена!!!

Brian May and Tony Iommi stand out, Gods of guitars!!!
This is amazing! So did Ritchie Blackmore have to teach these guys how to play Smoke on the Water? lol.
Brian May uses Freddie's signature attire(shorts) xD
Ritchie Blackmore, Tony Iommi, Brian May, Alex Lifeson e David Gilmour juntos é demais pro meu coração !!
Man this looked like a lot of fun. Gilmour and May were clearly enjoying themselves too much!
Smoke on the Water on some intense steroids!
Roger and Brian killin' it.
A fantastic amount of talent in one studio.
Best of Britain :)
MM Karesz And a couple of Canadians ;)
MM Karesz not only Britain mate Brian adams was there i am sure as i am ugly i see lars ulrich on drums and believe me im fucking ugly
That's Roger Taylor from Queen ;) Lars have less hair...
Busky42 How the hell does someone confuse Lars Ulrich and Roger Taylor? LOL!
MM Karesz @4:17 is Alex Lifeson of Rush from Canada.
Ohhh my dear Roger and Brian
Love the back and forth between Gilmour and May. Looked like they really enjoyed playing together.
Brian may is just too good. I mean, they're all awesome but may is just a legend!
7 different band members playing a song by another band, writen about Frank Zappa. Gotta love it...
The HYMN of Rock, writen about the disaster of Frank Zappa's band and Montreaux's casino by the greatest heavy rock group of all times, my friend...
Smoke on the water isn't about Frank Zappa. Its about an incident that happened during deep purple recording machine head. Frank Zappa had just finished a set at the same place Deep Purple were due to play and thats why he's mentioned in the song.
Wheelz U are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT...PURPLE seen them 5 times...3 times with blackmore...once with Joe lynn Turner NYcity...slaves n masters tour...BEST concert was April 25th 1987....House of the blue light tour in Philadelphia
NOT about Frank Zappa!!!!
The Red Special is so recognizable! It just shines among other guitars
This is what i called a MASTERPIECE
Floyd, Rush, Sabbath, Queen, Purple, Yes ... Throw in Zep and you’ve got all my favorite rock bands wow!
Chris Squire man, what. A. Bassist. Though he's not too loud in the mix here, you can still hear some of his subtle accents poking through. This is awesome
He should've sang too, he has such a nice voice.
Brian May,the God of guitar with the best guitar ever,Red Special. His sound is so peculiar.
Each of these guitarist sounds and tones stick out so well, Iommi's heavy tone, May's unique sound and Gilmour's as well as others.
R.I.P. Chris Squire.
We just lost Emerson too.
brian may, david gilmour, Tony Iommi, Ritchie Blackmore. The big 4 of british rock guitar ever!
Not only is Brian May's Guitar skills unprecedented but he is one clever dude. Astronomer, Mathematician among others..look it up..awesome
Cheers, _BUT:_ You forgot Timelord...and Accidental Inventor of Accidental Speed Metal (1974) Anyway, _Rock on!_
Dr. Sir Brian Maiden (OBE, PHd, \m/)

Brian May's tone- I may need few new sets of pants.
very cool tone, but it's just a harmonizer effect.
Think he needs a pair himself, by the looks of it
Don't those shorts just make you laugh? He is such a cool player--then there are those shorts!
Check out *_'New Damage_** (S O U N D G A R D E N & Brian Maiden)* - it micturates on all music to that point from a GREAT HEIGHT. _Rock on!_

Smoke on the Water is Rock N' Roll version of Beethoven Symphony no. 5
Brian and Roger 👏💛💛💛💛
Bruce Dickinson's vocals are outstanding!
Bruce Dickinson perfect as always \m/
I think this song needs more Cowbel...
Ha Ha Saturday Live!
Wicked Child gradios bruce dickinson
too right!!
Dave Gilmour and Brian May are the best.
Idk what was up with gilmour a tone in this though
Jacob Crowell Gilmour's tone leans on the reverb and nuance. I dont think he could have used that for such an heavy song. Also he uses strat for his songs. I think he used a rickenbacker here. Still amazing though.
I get that he might not be able have all of his awesome effects here, but even his raw tone is normally much more full. it sounds almost "cheap" here. those 2 are still in my top 5 favorite guitarists though.
Jacob Crowell sometimes you have to play with tempo of the song. And gilmour couldnt use his rich tone here
He used a Steinberger.
I miss this era. The longhair era of Rock & METAL. \m/
I have never heard this version, but now i am stunned. Awesomeness at its best.
0:46 - 0:48 Bruce Dickinson, flawlessly singing...
...in the wrong key. Whoops!
Here is the video that we made for the 2010 remix of Rock Aid Armenia's 'Smoke on the Water'. Nice to see that we've passed the 400,000 views mark!
Please check it out and share it with your friends.
+RockAidArmenia - I just now bought the last copy that Amazon USA had in stock. I hope the contribution helps the school in some way. How is the rebuilding progressing?
+Mike Barnett We opened the school two years ago and it's teaching 220 kids a year! The school looks great - thanks for helping :)
That is absolutely fantastic, and I'm glad that, in some small way, I was able to help.
Have the original on the Rock Aid Amemia VHS tape, this re-mix with extra footage is great. Well done.
What does this have to do with Armenia?
All Legends! 🎶 3:51 Brian, you May live Forever!! 🎶🎶
2017 and never knew this existed. R.I.P Chris Squire
Normally big ensemble pieces like this end up being disappointing, but this one's great. Everyone's clearly having a ball and the music gels.
Love Roger's drumming😍
British Rock Royalty !
Toni, Ritchie and Brian in the same band. I like that!
They should have formed a supergroup.
It would have been amzing if may and gilmour had have do more togeher. they are both such soulful, melodic, players and would sound amazing together
Brian May. One of the best guitar tone in history
Brians guitar sounds just amazing... as usual.
The Anthem of my Youth! Thanks Deep Purple! Thanks to all these Iconic Rock musicians for their powerful rendition!
the best smoke on the water performance ever!!!
My perfect band: Brian May & Tony Iommi on guitars, Roger Taylor on Drums, Steve Harris in Bass and Bruce Dickinson in vocals
You sir are a fucking genius I totally agree
Wow i like it.
Me 2
And Will Farrell on Cowbell. Don't forget the solo. That makes the song!
Neil Peart on drums, Nathan East on bass, Eddie Van Halen on guitar, and yeap, Dickinson in the vocals
Brian May playing side by side with Tony Iommi... WTF AMAZING!!!
Awesome to see Christopher Squire playing his rumbling bass!
Fuckin' hell, what a lineup! It's like a couple guys sitting around smoking a joint putting together their fantasy rock group together! *inhale* ...and Brian May will be on guitar...oh! and we'll have him next to Tony Iommi...yeah! that will work! And Bruce Dickinson will sing with Brian Adams. lol killer!
They all know one another "genius". Tony & Brain since you focused on those two have been friends for nearly 40 years.
It's incomprehensible how incredibly awesome this band is.
***** Guess how surprised I was when I heard Roger's voice, and saw his and Brian's faces!
Why surprised? They are great musicians!
***** Well, I think Roger plays here like any drummer (of his league, of course) could do, while Brian's sound and playing style is very distinctive here and very close to what he did on the last three classic Queen albums, so one doesn't need video to recognize him playing.
Денис Иконников Some very uninspired playing by Taylor indeed. Was a bit disappointed actually.
Brian & David best guitars ever
