Awesome talk, thanks for sharing. I oscillate between AI excitement in my day job, and despair at the prospect of so many artist friends already feeling the pinch from text to media AI tools. I don’t know where this all lands, but I think you and your students are onto something with the serviceable / sublime distinction. Here’s hoping that 1. All the CS majors gleefully talking about “replacing” musicians realize what’s sublime about life, and what isn’t… 2. And that novel use cases emerge of humans working with AI in a sublime way, and not just for elevator music.
