      great question. I can’t find the exact post, but you shared one of your videos where you go low and share your philosophy, and a lot of the comments just focused on how you don’t have a tik tok perfect swing or accuse you of being a phenomenal up and down player while completely missing the points you were trying to make.

    One of the big things I learned is to not have an ego when a playing partner says "I am hitting a 9 iron" and you know you need to hit a 7 but choose to hit a 8 or 9 instead. No one cares what club you hit and the only one judging you is yourself.

    One of my favorite quotes, which I first heard from a Vsauce video, goes as follows: "Stuff in your past is like a carving on the bark of a sapling. Over time, the scar, the carving, won't go away. Because of the way trees grow, it won't go up or down much either, it'll just stay right where it began, it might even get darker. But it won't get bigger. You, however, can; you can keep growing, doing more things, more branches, being more things. The wound won't get smaller, but you can make it a smaller part of who you are. Maybe regrets are like that. They stick around forever, like Arborglyphs...". Personally, I try to keep this in the back of my mind while playing golf. Each individual shot is just a part of who we are, and at the end of the day, one bad shot is only one of hundreds of thousands we will make in our lifetime. All we can do is accept it and enjoy the process. Nice video!

    Hey Adam, great video! Wondering if you have any tips for keeping a productive mindset when you are having an uncharacteristically good round through a few holes? I tend to have a lot of nerves about messing up a solid round with a blowup hole. Thanks!

    • @NotAScratchGolfer
      @NotAScratchGolfer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha this is a circumstance I don't face often :p I've played enough golf to know that being even thru 15 or 3-over thru 4 doesn't really matter. I was 3-over thru 4 in my best round ever. And I've shot in the 90s after being even thru 9. So, my general strategy is to just keep playing golf, treating each shot independently, etc. The scores will manifest as they will.

    Great playing Adam! If there's such a thing as a good double, you had two of them with those par threes where you shanked it. Your "if" score was really good. 76 if hit the good ones first on the par 3's. Could have had a couple more putts go for 74. To be fair, first hole could have missed = 75. 😊
    Point being, was a very good day and not far at all from being a phenomenal round. Excellent demonstration of not letting a few shots ruin your day.
    I try to remind myself that I am not good enough to get angry and even if I was...it doesn't do any good -- with the exception of a walloped drive occasionally -- which is more than offset by the more likely near complete miss.

  • @cedwards889
    @cedwards889 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    When you shank it, it appears that you are transferring your weight onto your left toes. When you do that, you change your swing plane and the hozel gets closer to the ball. The frame where you strike the ball at 12:24, you'll notice that your left toes don't come off the ground until well after impact. Compare to the frame at 12:47 (second attempt) and you'll see that your toes lift about half second earlier. Practice and warm up with some meaningful swings where you feel that weight mid foot early. Enjoy the free "swing tweak"!

      @@NotAScratchGolfer On the second swing, your left toes start coming off the ground with your club head about knee height on the follow through. On the first swing, your toes don't get to the same position until your club is shoulder height.
      We're talking about things happening over milliseconds, plus camera recording versus the YT rendering.
      That being said, the delay on the toes coming off the ground means too much weight is too far forward, leading to your hands moving closer to the ball and then shanks.
      I had this same issue in my golf game once. Took me forever to figure out. As soon as I worked on it, it went away. Only happens now if I get over tired during a club fitting (lots of swings happening quickly between shots) and once in a while on the range.

    a lot of your misses is the ball going bit too far left because of your natural draw hit. i would say especially on approach shots start aiming just a little more right of your target because so many of your shots are going a little left of target. and definitely practice more long and very long putts. also you love the hybrid i would recommend getting another hybrid even higher loft for the 160 to 170 shots perhaps.
