I learned this the hard way, I’m a mail carrier and when i started I thought we were all friends with each other but the people who I thought were good people weren’t. They gossip and are bored with their own sad lives they want to project their jealousy and gossip for no reason. These people are in their 40’e 50’s, I’m 34 lol it’s worse than high school so I’m just like how am I more mature about keeping things secret and respecting someone than them. It’s nuts, the post office should be a reality show because there’s drama everywhere 😂🤦🏽‍♀️

Learned it the hard way. I can count my trusted friends on half a hand too! And I like it that way. At work I will joke with people but keep a very good distance.

I am very private and don't discuss my life or post anything on social media. I frequently have co-workers call me secretive. Turning it into a negative, a dig. This was reassuring listening to a reasonable person who understands.

A subject not enough people broach. Workplace relationships to friends outside work, to neighbours, to even family, managing and protecting your privacy is key to peace. Life is challenging enough, it’s nice not to have the opinions and sabotaging behaviours from others who don’t have our best interest at heart. Less is more.

Yes, i agree that work and private life should be separate . I worked in a place where people got to know each others lives. But once the job ended, i noticed work friends became toxic, and im no longer in contact with. Im not on social media at all. I like keeping my life private and sharing info only to whom i choose. Certain people have nothing going on in their lives, so they go in other people's business.

I agree. I feel like most often the first question people ask me about is my love life🥴 I post travel, lifestyle, good eats, etc and am never asked about those things. I often wonder why a woman's love life is the only thing people are so concerened about.

Thank you! I loved this topic! Unfortunately I’m a talker at work. I need some mental stimulation either music or a podcast; if I don’t have that sometimes I share more than I’d like. Although I’ve still kept the very personal things personal.

This is such an important lesson and discussion, hope there are more topics like this. I have been far too naive, kind, and trusting believing people cared and valued such things with a similar perspective when in reality that is most often not the case and you need to be friendly but hold people likely at arms length until proven and know the time and place.
Sincerity and genuineness is such a rarity so if found, carefully cultivate and cherish it. Otherwise, "don't cast your pearls before swine"

I was one to keep work and private life very separate but upon retrospective reflection, I realized that people at work thought I didn't like them. The trick is to make people think you like them but share private info very strategically and consciously, because when they think you don't like them, that's when they band against you. I didn't understand how to play the game, which it totally is.

Hi Ilythia, hope you're well!! You have such a soothing and calming voice, thank you for sharing, your videos make my day!! I love minimalism and have been incorporating it more in my life!!
I used to be a person that would post quotes about positivity, etc., but after sometime, social media would leave my mentally drained!! I've been detoxing more often and trying to get back to my hobbies such as; knitting, and I tend to my small indoor garden and hopefully, will learn watercolor painting!! Hobbies help me be more at peace and alot less dependent on technology and social media!! Have a blessed day Ilythia!!❤🥰🙏

Thank you for talking about this. I've worked in the Healthcare field for over 3 years, and I am baffled at how much gossip and toxicity saturates it. I had previous retail experience before Healthcare & for some reason I had this idea that Healthcare required more professionalism than what I'd experienced before. While I love it, it's almost as if there is less professionalism than other places I've worked! Very interesting topic & something I particularly needed to remember today. Thank you 💖

I agree, it should be separate. but people are so nosy..
I'm a more reserved person & don't do any socials so I've even had people speculate/make up rumors about me in the work place and my own "family" members have also done this to me. people I've been kind to. it's such low behavior and I cannot believe people are comfortable with doing that to someone.
