- Hi everyone.
In this weeks video you will see me working on a Peugeot cylinder head, it came for a pressure test, skim and to change the stem seals, but when I had a good look at the seats, it was clear that it needed a lot more work.
We also had a customer drop off a vintage cylinder head for a reface.
Last of all I filmed a little of my MK 2 RS2000 escort, need to decide what I’m going to do with it.
Hope you enjoy
James

Road / Race car is neither one thing nor the other !
RACE CAR it should be !
Stay safe !
Stu xx
Yes I agree Stu. Maybe a road registered race car. Thanks
Another masterclass in doing things properly.
Thanks Julian.
Thinks for taking the time to film, edit and posting. Great content
Thanks Stephen, my wife does all the editing.. she says I say basically and so, too much.. lol
That Escort is mega 😁
Thanks David
Colour scheme is mint,
Race car only and you can't beat the induction roar of a N/A motor
Thanks stu. I agreed with the induction roar..
Always astounds me your broad level of knowledge and relentless level of quality. Ultimately depends on what you going to use it for mainly. Keep as is, worst case put some roof bars on for passengers to hang to 😂
Thanks Wayne.. it would be good to see it raced.. roof bars it is
Really impressed with your shim gauge, much easier than struggling with a micrometer!
It's mega Kevin.. I'll share the part number with you..
Great video once again. IMO, keep the escort as a road/race car. Run the exhaust through the center tunnel. Love the paint job.
Thanks Olly. Yeah I'll look in to the tunnel
Nice work james. I think make the escort road and track based. Move the exhaust to the middle to add a passenger seat and keep her normally aspirated for bit of sound 😂
Thanks Lee.. it's a hard one to decide
Great video James, escort looks cool, definitely think you should change it to take a passenger 👍
Thanks mate, yeah I'm going to have a look at that next time
That mk2 looks familiar... definitely dual purpose.. best of both worlds then.. it would be nice to have two seats in it. Think the rsr runs through the tunnel and out the boot but not 100%.. turbocharger the honda engine it there mental have a look at hallscorts performance they turbo charge them looks great fun
I've seen some of the hallscorts stuff they look awesome.. I reach out to them in the future for advice.. I'll have a good look at the exhaust soon and make a plan.. thanks for the tip
Always interesting!
Love the escort too! If gonna race it I'd leave the exhaust where it is - if going to use road more I'd move it for passengers
Like the colours and I'd leave it NA if it was mine - particulally for road rather than comp use
Thanks Dave.. for the series I'd race it in, I don't think it would have enough power.. maybe leave as is and tune more if needed.
Thanks for the mention James. Looking forward to sorting that one out for you
No worries mate, you are the man...
great video
Thanks Mike
The Escort is a lot wilder than I had expected, I was expecting to see a Pinto on 45s or similar not such a radical build. A passenger seat would certainly let you scare your friends at trackdays...
Yes it's quite wide.. probably worth more with a pinto.. it's good with the Honda though.. yeah it would be funny on track days
@@graceenginedevelopments I bet it is a lot of fun. Thanks for the reply.
@@g0fvt no worries
Great vid James keep escort race car nice supercharger be nice what gearbox is in it
Thanks mate.. s2000 6speed
Love the details on the head and valve work, makes me think I could do it 😂
Love the Escort to, is it still a full chassis, or has the body been put on that tubular frame?
As for what to do with it, tough decision. Race it, yes , I like the idea of having another seat in it and using it as a street car as well. So maybe looking g to see where you can route the exhaust…it looks great out the side, but does it make the car faster like that?
Thanks mate.. it's a tvr Tuscan challenge space frame with a original rs2000 body over the top.. I want to race it but the money from selling it would be handy. I'll look into reroute on the exhaust
@@graceenginedevelopments I remember when you first moved into the new unit you talked about selling it then. Looks like a great race car though
@@graceenginedevelopments Keep it. Theres alot of history in that car. I remember it sat in that quarry workshop of one of your snap-on rounds. Bare bones, covered in dust 😎 Fell in love with them Image split rims and pretended to myself that i could buy it 😆 Absolute dreamer!
Beast of a motor 🏁
No biscuits in the race season ! I have never worked on a over head camshaft engine very interesting for me , do you watch any after similar channels ?
Up to the shed to work on my car Kit from down under
I know kit, I just love hobnob biscuits lol.. ohc are pretty straightforward, no I don't really have time, I watch some of eds machine shop, David Vizard, Richard holdner and mat Armstrong, what you doing on the kit car at the moment?
@@graceenginedevelopments nothing exciting today some restoration on interior parts .
@christophercullen1236 it's all good.. moving forwards
How much would that amount of cylinder head work cost?
Hi James, I think the end bill was around £750 I can't remember to be honest
@@graceenginedevelopments brilliant thanks. I'm rebuilding a 205 at the moment and think it'll be worth sorting the head before I get the engine back in.
Yes mate they can be dodgy. If we can help get in touch
You sure it's not a 205CTI ?
I've asked the customer you're correct it's a CTI
I thought so, partly because:
1. I took it off.
2. I was driving behind it when the head gasket let go and it disappeared in an IMENSE cloud of white smoke@@graceenginedevelopments
