Chas is from the same hometown as Mildred Hoskins Tatum, mother of Art Tatum, perhaps the greatest improvising pianist who ever lived. There’s something great in those genes from that area.
The thing I appreciate most about this young man is his love and respect for God first, ministry, his Parents, the ones that cultivated his skills and lastly his God-given ability. His humility and spirit of excellence is phenomenal and I appreciate a young musician with class, especially those that still play in suits. I'm a female drummer and I grew up playing in dresses and heals as a kid, I worshipped on those drums and I played with all my heart. I never expected a dime, I was just thankful, I never had a formal lesson, I just sat listened and watched, and then I played. God bless this young man and the furtherance of his gifted ministry!

I've been a minister of music for 20 yrs (I'm 40 now). I do both I can live off either, what I make from the church or my corporate America job. Do both. It makes ministry easy & less like a job. Most of my musician friends that refused to get a job are now hating they didn't listen.. (Pandemic)
It’s wonderful to see a young person play the organ. I spoke with a woman a few weeks ago who said her church has a beautiful pipe organ and the church musician only plays an electronic keyboard. He won’t even play the organ.

For those who would seek to instruct this young man to pick up from specific musicians that’s ERROR. No just let him come into his OWN!There’s entirely too many pretentious musicians in this day and age. He’s still maturing but he is divinely gifted. He’s going to be all God has for him to be in God’s timing and with His preparation. Don’t seek to perfect your gift without guidance from the gift giver! Again God bless him. This is so wonderful.
Wonder Filled Theirs nothing wrong with gleaming off of other musicians. Those same musicians did the same thing by listening to others and then developing their own style of playing.
Cameron Ross I’m a musician. I know this. What I meant was not to point to specific people this young man should mimic! Of course he will listen and be influenced by others but I was talking about just throwing names at him and suggesting he pattern his playing after them. Think about how that has stagnated music in the church. I go hearing the same jazzy runs or pretentious chords or overplayed licks that can make one sick after a few bars. I mean every individual is an individual and should play and sing instinctually especially in church. I can mimic the best but when I praise and worship, it’s unmistakably ME standing in the need. God knows it’s me. The people know it’s me. I’ve learned how to shoot from the hip no extras to impress or tickle the ear of the human soul in need but to magnify the Eternal Host of Heaven who can meet the need. Hope that helps.

It’s wonderful to see a young person play the organ. I spoke with a woman a few weeks ago who said her church has a beautiful pipe organ and the church musician only plays an electronic keyboard. He won’t even play the organ.

48 year old white guy here lol, I enjoy this young man's maturity and talent. Notice he speaks highly of his Father, that is so good to hear... Young man is blessed with talent, maturity, and obviously a great Father. Listen to that music, that is God given.....🙏👍
First of all God bless this young man. You can tell that he has a good ear and if I could just sit with my eyes closed and listen to him, I wouldn't know that he was 16 years old!! I pray that he will stay humble before God, and his gift will definitely make room for him. God bless him all the days of his life, Amen..😌😌😌😌

For those who would seek to instruct this young man to pick up from specific musicians that’s ERROR. No just let him come into his OWN!There’s entirely too many pretentious musicians in this day and age. He’s still maturing but he is divinely gifted. He’s going to be all God has for him to be in God’s timing and with His preparation. Don’t seek to perfect your gift without guidance from the gift giver! Again God bless him. This is so wonderful.
Wonder Filled Theirs nothing wrong with gleaming off of other musicians. Those same musicians did the same thing by listening to others and then developing their own style of playing.
Cameron Ross I’m a musician. I know this. What I meant was not to point to specific people this young man should mimic! Of course he will listen and be influenced by others but I was talking about just throwing names at him and suggesting he pattern his playing after them. Think about how that has stagnated music in the church. I go hearing the same jazzy runs or pretentious chords or overplayed licks that can make one sick after a few bars. I mean every individual is an individual and should play and sing instinctually especially in church. I can mimic the best but when I praise and worship, it’s unmistakably ME standing in the need. God knows it’s me. The people know it’s me. I’ve learned how to shoot from the hip no extras to impress or tickle the ear of the human soul in need but to magnify the Eternal Host of Heaven who can meet the need. Hope that helps.
