The fact when Rupert saw Nate vulnerable and “weak” he told him to call him Mr.Mannion, yet once he saw Nate become powerful again he said ‘Rupert’ … heartbreaking 😭
I noticed that, too. God, the awfulness of Rupert: in public he makes a show of telling Nate to call him Rupert, to get credit from the crowd, but in private his correction of Nate serves his purpose of keeping Nate off-balance, the better to manipulate him.
I appreciate the actor who plays Nate. He does a great job of showing the conflict inside him (with just his expressions). That closing "FaceTime" was gut-wrenching.
Yea hes great, going from season 1 Nate to this one and me still believe he’s the same person haha. And yea Jason was great in that scene, tough stuff to swallow
For real! Im beginning to like Nate again and I don't know how to feel about it hahaha. The end was tough but I'm happy that Ted decided to do what was right for him though.
I really liked Zava sticking up for Van Damme in his press conference. He knows they will need him down the stretch and having a guy like him believe in you can really help your confidence. He's a good teammate.
Yea Zava was saying all the right things, before the crime and fruit tangent haha but I'm hoping he doesnt leave in the winter transfer window. The commentators made a point to question if Zava made the right choice, hoping he stays!
@@ItzWilson2 I was wondering if Zava comment about passion being use to describe a crime referred to his belief that Richmond's actions on the pitch was a crime in his eyes. I do not know, might of just been a random non sequitur like the fruit comment.
The channeI It Takes 2 Takes pointed out that when watching Nate tear up the sign, Ted recognized a part of himself in that anger and that bottled up pain. And he doesn't want to show Nate's private angry moment to others because he's also afraid to show his own anger to others.
I like that this episode highlighted a couple of interesting things things about Nate. 1. He’s a brilliant football strategist which Richmond took for granted when he was there 2. He’s very complex guy and needs to deal with some deep seated issues. I like that he is showing remorse for how he left Richmond.
Me too, Im really enjoying where his character is right now, and absolutely he knows his shit about football I mean West Ham are playing well under him, but he def needs to work some things out. Hope to see him reconnect with Ted and co. soon!
It seems clear to me that Shandy is the selfish version of Keeley. She looks at all the things Keeley is doing for her and instead of trying to help others like Keeley did, she's looking to see how it can help her (mostly to have fun, it seems) - using the company card, etc.
@Skarbie Well I’m not saying it’s a great situation, but it’s not like they are super toxic and hurting each other. It seems a distraction for both of them, one I believe Ted does need, better then drinking alone in his apartment. Teds a grown man, he can say no to her if he needed to. Sassy is the only woman he’s had an intimate relationship with since his divorce, so of course he’s going to get attached and want to get dinner and make the relationship something more, but for Sassy that just isn’t in the cards, at least not at the moment. I still ship it!
I finally realized that when the coaches were telling Ted to own up to Nate hurting him, he took that advice and used it instead on his wife to express his true feelings (for once!!) Maybe for the first time ever!! Wow.
And thanks for pointing out the RIP to Grant Wahl. I remember when that happened I was so shocked (as a physician). He was young and this was truly unexpected. Anyhow, very nice touch.
Damn ur right! Yea not holding in that “poison” as Beard put it and letting it out, telling his wife she hurt him, must’ve felt really good to get off his chest!
ya I think showing the video a week before the match would have been a good play, let the anger subside into motivation. Or showing the video with ted providing a counter argument could of worked to. I think the point of that season was that the players watching the video and getting enraged was similar to how ted was feeling regarding Dr. Jacob. Ted watching his team loose their shit, reminded ted that he might also loose his shit if he did not unload his own anger. It goes back to Coach Beards carbon dioxide example. That's why when ted got home, he put his drink down and called michelle. Up until now, Ted has been distracted by his anger which is why we really have not seen him do much coaching. Think he will be better know and help his players convert their rage into motivation and energy.
Really awesome relating the video and the team to ted and Jake, did not even think of that but makes total sense. I'd love for Ted to be able to focus on the season more now, because you're right he hasnt been doing much coaching. Thanks for the comment man!
You can clearly see most of Ted's messages if you pause and zoom. Some interesting stuff there. Jack is interesting. She appears to be a short term character, but they've got something planned there. I'd been wondering if they plan to push Keeley back towards Jamie, but now I'm wondering if Jack encounters Roy and hooks up with him. She's definitely been illustrated as too cool/not a jerk to be an incidental character. She could just be a new mentor for Keeley I suppose. Keeley definitely needs help, as illustrated by Shandy feeling she can just do what she wants. The girl at the restaurant is disgusted by Nate. The first time we saw this in Season 2 we may have been suspicious she was being classist, or maybe even racist, but this time makes it clearer that (at least the first for sure) isn't it. It's Nate being a wet noodle. Even Nate 2.0 is still a wet noodle. There's clearly some implication from Michelle seeming actually a bit pleased by Ted actually communicating displeasure at her. A feeling of another plank laid on the "Ted goes home" theory, implying she likes Ted a lot more when he's not simply pacifying her. But that ending only works if the jerk of a marriage counselor not only gets the boot, but Michelle apologizes for not recognizing he was manipulating her (which means he has to be written as doing so, rather than just being some guy who took the opportunity that opened up with her).
I checked out the messages during the discussion some funny stuff in there for sure hahA. Yea I think Jack will mentor Keeley hopefully help her run the business. Yea could totally see that ab the hostess but idk some of the looks she was giving at the end of the scene didn’t give me that vibe, but we’ll see! And yea I’d like for the therapist to be out of the picture curious how they’re gonna write him. Thanks for the comment!
Wiley Coyote nope, the girl at the restaurant is not disgusted at Nate - you are. She didn't remember him at all when he walked in, that's all. You're projecting your disgust onto her. "What we think about others says more about us than about them." - Kay Pollak
A great episodes. So many storylines but the idea of rage being an answer is shut down by Ted. Ted grew when he told his ex wife exactly what he thought about her relationship. I definitely think Nate will get a redemption.
I was really disappointed in Roy and Beard this ep. Everybody have their struggles. Ted told them last ep that he was thinking about the Dr. Jacob situation and told them about Sassy and the "You're a mess." situation in this ep. He clearly needed Beard and Roy to step up a bit. The way they went about it was disappointing tho. At the start of the episode when discussing the strategy, they were freaking out too much. Nate really rattled them and they shouldn't have let him get into their heads. And then showing the video when Ted clearly didn't want them to was the wrong call. Yes, Ted was distracted and they should've tried to help him focus on the game, get his head in the game, y'know. I think this was a demonstration of why Ted should keep coaching Richmond and not go back to Kansas. And then Rebecca also put way too much pressure on Ted when she knew he was dealing with stuff as well. Higgins, Roy and Beard also trying to convince Ted that he should be upset with Nate was not nice either. Like, he clearly has his own pace and he'll face with the Nate situation when he's ready. I dunno man, I was just generally upset with the way everybody treated Ted this episode. He hasn't had peace since the opening of this season and I really loved seeing some of that weight lifting off his shoulders at the end. Really loved some of the callbacks this episode! Oklahoma of course was the best one. I also love what they're doing with Zava. I always expect the other shoe to drop with him but it hasn't happened yet. It might never since this show loves subverting expectations. He compliments his teammates, is not a jerk towards them, is active on the lockerroom, gave good advice about not listening to the talking faces regardless. If he becomes upset over the West Ham game, it is totally understandable.
Yea I get the disappointment, I think their actions were like their “red cards.” They lost the plot and went in too hard with mind games and all of that, and while I liked the idea of the video it definitely could’ve been handled way better, cuz that’s passion we haven’t seen from these guys in a long time, just expressed very wrongly. And yea rebecca kinda reverting to her old self being solely focused on beating Rupert, and putting that on Ted. Did love the callbacks as well and Zava continues to be a highlight as he’s not the asshole I thought he’d be haha
Guys, come on,Ted never went to a therapist alone before Doc Sharon, he only went with Michelle. Dr Jacob was doing their couples' counseling. She was first going to him alone, then with Ted as a couple. And please, chill with the "GUILT" that Michelle should feel as a victimof a therapist who took advantage when she was vulnerable, and preyed on her. You try going to a crappy therapist when you need serious help, and not get manipulated, hurt, humiliated, dependant, addictive.
Yea i know he only went with Michelle, the texts he got were for their marriage sessions. And as for Jake preying on her, that could very well be the case. But hes driving her kid to practice and at the house and all so until they show me thats what happened Im gonna assume Michelle knew full-well what she was doing. We shall see!
@@ItzWilson2 when I said he preyed on her, I meant when she first went to him for counseling. She was already unhappy with Ted and he might have reinforced those emotions and then in couple’s counseling he kept twisting it to blame Ted which would again reinforce her feelings. And it was Jake that suggested she needed space so Ted took this job. This is all guessing based on the few lines Ted mentioned.
I may have to re-watch this episode. Seems I missed a lot. I feel bad for Keeley. I want to protect her at all costs. She doesn't seem to be having a good time right now.

Yea it seems like shes in it for all the wrong reasons, hopefully Keeley can fire her soon so Jack doesnt do something to Bantr
Her direction of the players was good but she’s clearly not a diplomat.
I wonder if it’s Nate who will eventually let it slip to Bex about Rupert.
I certainly hope so! Some realization for him that Rupert is not a good person, hopefully allowing Nate to try and gain some independence from him
