Is it just me or is there something wrong with the Mavic air footage starting at 0:51 , it looks like a lot of dropped frames and I don't think it's my computer.
The stabilising quality of the Hero 7 means you could put it on a really cheap 3-axis gimbal for the ability to control its pan & tilt from your transmitter and get the kind of rock steady footage that normally requires an expensive 3-axis gimbal.
I have come to the same conclusion,a cheap but powerful drone,a better camera with electronic image stabilization,and you’re done.I don’t ever fly my expensive drones anymore especially over water,I can do some editing afterwards and I have a good quality video that people don’t believe I made it with a mjx bugs.

Nice testing of the Hero 7 on several different quads, I was really impressed how well it worked on the Bugs 2. I put the Hero 7 on the 3DR Solo drone and also had very good results. Great video Justin.

Justin, great video, I have a Hero 3 Black, I think I bought it in 2013. I use the GoPro Studio editing, it has a fish eye remover to run the video through. I am not sure if with a Hero 7 it can be done, but I really think GP would have carried that excellent post editing option through (could you check that for me lol). Going to Italy in May and have considering a Go Pro Hero 7 and building a nice modern cinema platform with GPS to take as well. Max Silverstein seems to be the stock 3m pad that comes with the go pro and then some of the mount connectors. You can buy it from go pro or from China since it’s plastic
I have a MJX Bugs 2W and was already thinking about selling it. I was also thinking about buying a Mavic or a Fimi X8 because I want to make stable aerial videos (just hobby purposes). Now I am undecided. A Hero7 Black would set me back 390€, a Fimi X8 would be about the same if I substract the money I get when selling the Bugs. The Fimi is more practical and can be folded but the GoPro is useful not only for flying. Any suggestions?
Another thing to consider is that if you feel like doing aerial photography in the future, the Mavic would be the better purchase. However, if you're doing video only, yeah the Hero 7 could be an alternative, though I would still get the Mavic. That is my opinion as someone doing photography as part time work.

Is Hypersmooth something sophisticated that can only be done within the camera or is it working just like a video stabilizer in editing software? Are the results much worse when using just any decent action camera and applying stabilization in post?
If you are even more broke, you can "invest" in an aerial mapping balloon. The cheapest way to get Arial footage, and much more secure then strapping a gopro on a cheap drone. That being said, I strongly suggest the dji spark. I love my little spark and I am surprised every time I fly it.
How did you manage to counteract the vibrations of the drone? Even with using ReelSteady in post to stabilize, I am still can't achieve the smoothness that you achieved in this video. I hard-mounted a GoPro Hero 5 to a Eachine ex4.
Did you watch the video? He used a Gopro Hero 7. It is worlds ahead of a Gopro Hero 5. Big difference. Gopro Hero 7 has in-built HyperSmooth Stabilisation.

I got a Bugs 3 Pro, a bit larger than the Bugs 2, I was supposed to get a DJI Spark or a used Mavic Pro, but after seeing this video, I will just definitely get a Hero 7 black for my Bugs 3 Pro, at least I can still use the hero 7 for straight vlogging, and other video projects, instead of a Spark that I cannot detach the camera for vlogging.

Great video. I love the bugs 2 But the size makes it difficult for travel. I'm thinking about the bugs 4w or the JJRC X11 since they are foldable. I do wonder if those can lift a GoPro? Do you have any experience with that? Or a other comparable foldable drone.
I use the built in camera for FPV and the action camera for the real shots. Total investment. $250. Got a sony lens cheap action camera with 20 mp camera on ebay for $30

Maybe a frame rate conflict when importing the source footage into video editing software? Can't really tell until the final render is done.

Get a GoPro 7. You won’t regret it because you can use it for so many things its tough as nails and waterproof.

A go pro would be better if you don't have a drone license or don't have the motor skills so i'd say gopro

It’s a software exclusive to GoPro right now. They have put all of that editing type of stabilization in the camera. But on three axis.

With these experiments u can even avoid most regulations in other states or country flying drones. Hence, they are two separate parts.
