- 🎬Tonight we had planned to be sat beneath the big screen at the Royal Festival Hall, performing the score to Anthony Minghella’s multi-award winning romantic blockbuster, The English Patient. Music is at the centre of this passionate story, and the evocative score earned composer Gabriel Yared an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and a Grammy Award.
While we can't perform for you right now, in this film Yared relays to us his remarkable journey into composition, orchestration and the world of scoring for cinema.

The English Patient is the most beautiful film I've ever seen in my life, and I'm sure it is in big part due to the music too. It was a very talented job. A great Thank You Gabriel.
I can't count how many times I've seen this movie, I can't count how many times I've listened to the soundtrack...💎
The English patient is absolute my favourite film which I watched many times, and every time the theme of love moves me to tears .... Thank you Gabriel Yared for your music, so beautiful and powerful that it touches my heart every time ...
I exactly feel the same
He needs to do more films, the fact that he hasn't done more ever since being kicked out of Troy is disgraceful to hollywood.
I can relate! The happiness I felt some time ago, tears included, when I succeeded in playing a small part of “Convento di Sant’Anna”, by myself, by ear, not knowing anything about pianos and all, even if it was not perfect at all... well, that joy... I won’t stop until I’m able to play it
To tears instantly
What a great musician and the way he tells his story is mesmerizing.
A lovely man, which you can hear in his music 🎶. Kind regards, SF
Wonderful, wonderful. This should have had 7 million views.
He and Minghella delivered my favorite holy trinity of film and music: The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Cold Mountain ❤
Check out Betty Blue - part of the soundtrack at 8.28.

Such an incredible video. So insightful. I have never seen Gabriel Yareds story regarding The English Patient soundtrack. A very clever and artistic man with his clever gift. The soundtrack for this film was the first I ever bought aged 16 when the film came out in 1996. I fell in love with the power of storytelling after watching this film ❤

2001 when i heard soundtrack city of angels so much playing that CD, that it stopped working after hundreds of playing.. Yared hited me straightly to my heart. What a festival to see him here talking about music and playing ❤ greetings from Slovakia
I absolutely loved the very Bach-ian theme from the moment I heard it in the cathedral scene. This video closes the loop on that in a sense, and it's been so fulfilling to hear the story behind that. Thanks for uploading this!
You're most welcome! Thanks for spending time with us!

Wonderful!
"Lullaby for Cain" - one of the best songs ever written.
Me encanta tu dedicación
I wish I just knew him to hang out with in a cafe with for a while
what's that shift in chords or something that happens at 22:36 that sounds so intriguing? Reminds me of a part from Wagners Tristan and isolde prelude they used in Melancholia
So it was a cor anglais - I couldn't work out whether it was an oboe or a clarinet - turns out it was neither.
What's playing at the start of the twelfth minute?
Best Lebanese composer.
What is that music 5:53 onwards?
minute 5:30.. cool fuge.. mr bach...but Yared will not find out about my compliment...
