We just returned from the San Diego CA region for our vacation. It was our 1st use of FSD 12.3.3. While checking out a beach I accidently fell and hurt my knee, elbow and rib cage. I'm 76 years of age and my wife was too fearful to drive in the 6 and 8 lane CA traffic. We instructed the Car to return to our Hotel and stop at a Super Charger on the way. FSD got us back with very little intersessions on my part. (It was a 21 mile return trip). We couldn't have made it without FSD. So happy We had the trial during our vacation week! FSD still has some quirks to resolve but it really took the stress away from our trip home.
I believe. WIth the car as pilot flying and the human as pilot monitoring, the combination has become in general more reliable and safe than either party alone. This is almost entirely overlooked by the critics, who assume that no user is paying attention. To the contrary, I have seldom been as attentive when in charge of a car than when the software is handling the details.
As a data scientist, I can promise you the software architecture is what makes or breaks an AI project. There are many standardized architectures that will get you standardized results. If you want something that performs better than anyone else, you need a robust and proprietary architecture

At $99/m FSD PAYS FOR ITSELF in savings on insurance if you USE IT EXTENSIVELY.
$300/m is quite 'normal', but I am paying $200 with Tesla insurance. I could be paying LESS as my safety score improves as I learn how to 'game' the scoring criteria.
Use FSD for nearly all driving and your score can reach 98-100

The world will not understand that FSD should cause; accidents, deaths, long term medical care of auto accident victims, and property damage to drop by huge percentages Tesla will probably bundle insurance into the monthly cost of FSD at no cost to the buyer which would make the decision to buy and use FSD a no brainer for the consumer especially young male drivers who sometimes have to pay several hundred dollars a month for car insurance.
Not yet ready for Tesla's version of safety monitoring to control anything about my life, and certainly not insurance rates. I hated the experience when I was being vetted for FSD a year or so ago.

I used FSD during moderate to heavy rain…I could barely see but FSD did amazing! By far the safest way to drive when combining FSD’s capabilities with the human monitoring. I might actually subscribe…

I think they should erase the $12000 upfront cost and keep the $99/month in perpetuity as it gives you constant revenue and a price everyone can pay, giving you all data you will ever need.

Not many people will buy it upfront now as it would take 10 years to break even. Most people will not keep a car 10 years so makes no sense. I reckon at $99 per month they will see a 25%+ uplift in subscriptions!

@@wolfgangpreier9160 I don't know a single person that has kept a car that long. I had my last car 10 years(everyone I know had multiple in that time) I think the average is about 5 years though. I am talking UK here. Our cars rust out after about 15 years in general.
I reckon about 20% or less are 15 years old on our roads unless its a classic/sports that has had a lot of money spent on it. The average hatchback no chance, at 15 years old it would not be worth the repair bills, 14 years on average they will be scrapped.

The reality is that if Telsas becomes money "printers" and anyone can deploy their Tesla, everyone will try to get their hands on one. Supply and demand will ensure the ROI on Robotaxi tends to 0 for Tesla owners

As profits persist, more and more players come to the game. That’s why Elon always mentions that the pace of innovation is all that matters.
In 10-15 years when FSD is everywhere and non-profitable for everyone the next player to innovate will win the market all over again. What is the next innovation after FSD? Maybe the actual Matrix? Some of you are already 90% plugged in at all times.
Many will abandon car ownership expense in favor of cheap on demand point to point services.

Tesla needs to announce wireless charging stations for robotaxis. This will be especially convenient if you park a large car like a CyberTruck outside since it can’t fit in the garage. The homeowner can also sell parking and charging appointments for robotaxis. I hope 8/8 will have this information. FSD is nonetheless not ready. My recent experience is I had to constantly disengage to correct errors. They should offer another option like “Assisted FSD” so the drivers can make real world instantaneous corrections without disengaging.

Regardless of how good FSD/ robot taxi's are surely the resistance from all commercial drivers,Unions,federal and state institutions will slow down its introduction.There are a huge number of vested interests that will oppose its full scale introduction
Everyone talks about the take rate of existing Tesla vehicles. What about the 2 million vehicles produced this year and the continued increase is production in just the next few years? What about all the other automakers who license the technology? The exponential growth is beyond most people’s comprehension so they choose not to think about it. That’s a big mistake. This move to $99 per month for FSD makes me more bullish than ever about the future of Tesla.

As I posted on a prior video - I just don’t get Morgan Stanley’s thinking around their TSLA price target of $310. If they are really seeing all this crazy high potential for Tesla in the near future how can they come to such a low estimate? Unless they actually have no clue how to price what they’re seeing and so are just running with an incredibly conservative estimate so as not to rock the boat too much and be ridiculed by their analyst peers.
2 main obstacles lay ahead the notion of Tesla as a money printer”:
1. The necessary laws allowing autonomous driving of cars (no driver).
2. People who spent 40+K of dollars to own a private car to drive and enjoy, will not send it over night to make some on the side.
Try driving a Tesla FSD in a rain storm snow storm and freezing rain all covering over the camera lenses and thats why they will never get Governments approved robotaxis without having Lidar.
$ 120 later this year ?

So here’s a thought: FSD “Full Supervised Driving” should now not just be an luxury option you can subscribe to for $99/mth, but it should be a mandatory requirement for ALL cars to have considering how distracted most drivers are now days. I almost got hit today on my bike by a lady making a left turn that didn’t see me. How many friends/people you know (cyclist) would still be alive today if this were available 10 years ago?
When I saw the price drop to $99 I immediately reached out to my friend who has a Tesla and is in the middle of the FSD Supervised Trial. In the lastconversation we had about it, he likened its abilities to, "Driving like a teenager." I asked him if he would continue to use the FSD Supervised now that the monthly subscription has been lowered to $99 a month...his answer was, "Fu@K Yes!" He said, "I can see where this is and I can see where it is going. I drove from Sacrament to San Francisco for the Giant's home opener and while it drove like a teenager in SF I didn't have to do anything on the freeway between Sacramento and San Francisco. Mostly a stress-free drive."

SMR: How much added pressure has the $99 announcement put on OEM's? The original data threshold of 6 billion miles should be achieved in a year by Tesla which means the timeline for OEM's has changed. If OEM's can't match (they can't) the safety of FSD their sales will fall off a cliff. Now that Tesla has set the price at $99 the ability for OEM's to sell licensed FSD for $199 falls off a cliff. If OEM's don't adopt Tesla's "cameras as eyes" system immediately, the cliff has just moved a lot closer

He doesn't, but in terms of actual miles driven the taxi fleet will eclipse all the rest quite quickly and so will be a primary driver of future Tesla revenue and profits.

So at 99 dollars a month it would it take 10 years and one month to equal out the 12000 if you bought it out right and if you're running it as a robo taxi 22 hours a day -2 hours for charging would the car even last more than 10 years you might be better off doing that $99 if you're going to just run the car into the ground as a taxi 24/7

Letting people ride in your car is not passive. People do icky things when not supervised, even on camera, and that stuff will need to be cleaned. I’d have a separate vehicle for business so I’d have only my own messes in my personal vehicle. Eew, yeah, I’m a girl!

Now the name “supervised” fsd seems more significant. I think they will have a tiered subscription system. A cheaper “supervised” tier and a more expensive “unsupervised” tier. The increased take rate will increase fsd miles driven by a large margin. Awesome!

subscription needs to be priced based on current value/capability for maximum take rate... outright purchase can include future hope of capabilities in the price. once you own it they dont raise the price. subscription rate can go up or have add ons for additional capabilities

Anyone who owns Tesla stock should prefer a monthly subscription model for FSD: it reduces the entry barrier while providing a long-term revenue stream and the flexibility to increase price over time.

I like the idea that you will have to purchase fsd to join the robotaxi network. Monthly subscriptions will only allow you to enjoy fsd. You could sign up with Uber if they allow a robotaxi to there network 🤔

What I think is inside the editor minds is simply this: "So, we (the establishment publisher/propagators) feel that reading or fully pronouncing the words 'long term' are simply to laborious and (long term) so we're going to use an acronym to subdue and suppress the emphasis on 'long term' so that readers will see 'LT' and hopefully not quite resonate the meaning that we're trying to skirt. I know it only saves six letters and a space, but it's about more than that, as we're trying to avoid articulation and imprint of plain spoken words which might cause a problem for us. So we'll just compress it into an acronym 'LT' so that less readers will notice or resonate the meaning." It's must be so forbidden that they clearly acknowledge "...retain(ing) a positive (long term) outlook"!
Why stop at $99/month. At $49/month FSD would be the killer app that electrifies transport in an eye-blink of human history.
$99/month?! The take rate will be 90%. OEMs will come over or die. FSD is the new automatic transmission.
In 2024 with the ETFs and halving and everything coming up the biggest change to everything will be AKWMTTP hands down. They worked for years to get this done and needless to say how much impact will rise from that.
Tesla fleet will be a lot bigger than 40M in 2030.
Truth is most of all that we would not even have this current climb if it was not for AKWMTTP bringing the main change so that even casuals are super interested now. A brand name like that one behind this asset is just the best we could have hoped for

Imo, there's a difference between FSD and robotaxi. Teslas mission compels it to make FSD available to as many people as possible for safety. Spending as much as they have to develope it and make it financially unavailable makes no sense. Robotaxi, if not operated entirely by tesla, will generate revenue through a licensing program separate from a monthly fsd subscription. I've wondered though, if Tesla will choose to make fsd free to those who opt their vehicle into the robotaxi network for a certain number of hours a week

Fsd needs to improve before it’s taken seriously by doubters. Needs to be so good no one can deny that it’s the only way. I believe but a lot of doubters exist still.

I seldom go anywhere just to go there. I have to take half my life with me. I think Robo taxis will be used more than Uber and Lyft (I will be much more likely to use them if their human owner/operator is elsewhere), but maybe not as much more as the most sanguine sages think. We'll see. It will also be interesting to learn whether the costs of rides will as predicted go down, or whether the companies will pocket the saved labor costs.
As FSD improves toward zero crashes and towards absolute safety, who will want to risk being killed driving a non FSD vehicle?

The AI based behavior of FSD V12 is clearly much better than the predecessor. I enjoy using it. I do wonder whether the absence of some of the rule-based software of v11 won't occasionally get the trained-but-uneducated systems into trouble once in a while. I'm seeing evidence of behavior that I wouldn't have expected from V11 here and there. Here's hoping.

If every owner made their car available as a taxi they would only get a couple of customers a day, that’s not going to even cover the increase in insurance that private hire vehicles need to pay, never mind valeting after drunk passengers have thrown up in it or eaten their takeaway in it. You would need to be a complete idiot to think this was viable long term business idea………….and that’s assuming that they make the massive increase in performance to the point where the car can drive completely unassisted. What happens when there is a minor accident, can the car swap details with the other driver as you are legally obliged to do? 🥧 + 🌌
and forget a ride to the airport curb. That won’t be allowed
And what if it snows? Will people smoke and eat and vomit in it? What happens if it gets a flat tire?
So the foundatition for this year to become the golden one is set in stone, ETF approval, halving are the things people talk about it but the truth is that AKWMTTP has more of a role than any of these. You really believe it comes down to what mainmedia tells you? If you believe that then you slept the last ten years and you should actually wake up. Having the strongest brand in the world making their own asset, that's something which matters and that is what I would encourage you to understand

It will have to have cameras and sensors inside, and a protected driver area (or perhaps no steering wheel or pedals for a customer to interfere with). Here is something I one haven’t heard anyone speak to but it is what Elon has been saying lately. First there was chip shortage now there is transformer shortage on the horizon and finally energy both Elon and Sam and Microsoft know this we have seen it with the training of gpt5. Elon in the past has said that you could power all of North America with a giant solar system place in Texas. I believe that Elon understands the energy problem and has been playing 4D chess and will leverage this when energy is scarce as it takes ten years for a nuclear power plant to come online. And fusion is coming but not soon enough. But teslas energy division once autonomous driving is done will shift gears make solar farms to power the world giant compute server farms. This could push Tesla company even further then anyone could imagine with power autonomous cars and robots making them the largest company to ever exist.
