REN is a modern Bard. Singer, rapper, multi-instrumentalist, writer, performer, a gentleman with not only talent but depth and sensitivity. He deserves every success. I believe his health concerns have helped make him wise beyond his years as well. Simply brilliant.
I think the sound which caught your ear in Violet's tale were the seagulls on Brighton Beach. They have the most perfect sense of timing, emphasizing the absence of other sound.
This trilogy is amazing. Such a shocking ending. The whole thing is like watching a tv show, the story telling is brilliant. All great individually but Violets Tale is next level. The timing and way he maintains the rhythm and beat with just his voice is fantastic.
Isn't he just mind blowing!?! Would love to see more Ren reactions. I really love Chalk Outlines (live) with Chinchilla if you would like to check out yet another side of his immense talent.
You asked what that noise was at 14:35, its seagulls (birds). Ren lives in Brighton a coastal town. Seasgulls are a constant noise in the background if you ever visit the town. So although the song is set around Paddington an area in London the video looks to have been shot in Brighton.
That is exactly what I was going to say! I confirm your mathematical skills!🤓🤓 Paddington England 2005 There must be a story of violet. 2019 There must be a story Of jenny and screech.
Ren is such a great storyteller and emotive performer. I hope he keeps creating stuff like this that makes you feel and think about life, the systems we live in etc etc. Like seriously, this is the kind of stuff I'd go to an artsy theatre for.
First, Jamel, you are my OG Reaction video guy from back in February 2020, and LOVE ya, man. Now, for my thoughts: 1. Great catch on the painting on the wall! I hadn’t noticed it before! 2. “The breathing, it’s ALL important”---Yes, Ren and his filmmaker, pay super close attention to details. It really is like a movie-storytelling through song and video 3. You noticed something I thought of on my first watch a while back-he’s walking through streets where people live and I do wonder if any of them were listening? Annoyed? Excited? It’s interesting to think about! 4. Last, yes, you got it, not only with your extrapolation of Jenny and Screech’s lives but with your final comment, “This was tragically beautiful.” That, my friend, is the deeper message behind most of Ren’s work-the tragic beauty of the human experience, we are all of these things, we are Jenny, we are Screech, we are Violet, we are those who beat Violet to a pulp. If you or anyone reading this is interested in reading some blogs about this important artist Ren Gill, I’ve released the first of three and have (at least) two more that will come out in February. Because I can tell Ren puts so much into his work, I put A LOT of time into this one. @@Corvid76 I just listened to the whole thing again to pay more close attention to the "He's and she's" ect. and couldn't find where Ren said that both were a boy. If you could provide a time stamp that'd be great.

Ren has an amazingly good back catalogue well worth checking out he's just dropped a brilliant version of the Verve's bitter sweet symphony ...tonight.
Enjoyed your reaction! You said it well, tragically beautiful. Ren is talented beyond belief, an artistic genius blessing the world with masterpiece after masterpiece. He can rap, rap too (The Hunger, Genesis, Power, What You Want) and he can sign sign (How to Be Me, Chalk Outlines, and any of his street performances/busking sessions are good ones to check out). I'm new to him too, about 3 weeks in and already obsessed and in love with his music.

Just a thought outside the brilliant musical artistry Ren displays. Man, I’ve never heard of this artist before. Loved it!! Tnx for introducing me to him. Whew! The end of the song Violets tale had me in tears!! Caught me completely by surprise.
Yep, you nailed the story. Stevie (their dad) would have been in prison so they ended up kids in the system. I was awaiting the jaw drop and you didn't disappoint! Makes you wonder doesn't it, is the cycle of abuse nature? Nurture? Or a mix of both?
It's been said before, but Ren is the definition of a modern day bard. Musician, entertainer, storyteller, artist. I'd read that, the story of Jenny was inspired by a real life report that Ren heard of, of a 14 year old boy on murder charges, Screech's and Violet's tales were of his own creation, with Screech's written not long after Jenny's, and Violet's was written a few years after, tying them all together.
Violets tale was set in 2005 and Ren released jenny and screech in 2019 which is how Screech & Jenn were 14yrs old. Even though her son was actually released 2yrs after jenny & screech....he references when it was set in time which was London City 2 0 0 5. X

When my husband goes to work and my son goes to college, I put RENs videos on and sing along at the top of my lungs, just as ren sings them. My mum would be ashamed god rest her sole, or she would have just joined in. It would have been great. Brilliant tale.
I only discovered Ren a few days ago and I want to thank you for not pausing the reaction every 6 seconds like other reaction channels. Any reaction channels I watch I prefer to hear the reaction after the video. Appreciated!
Remember, Jenny died because she was quiet & froze like a statue - her mum Violet had the same trait, staying silent. Remarkable storytelling, Ren is a rare talent. I hope he comes back from his treatment in Canada rejuvenated & ready to produce more magic like this. Great reaction BTW, love your reactions to Dimash as well, peace & love!
Ren tells the stories and the filming of the stories are all done so well i found myself looking for the bodies laying on the ground. The saddest thing about this is the fact each of these things are happening in every country at this very moment and the cycle continues
"People live there." I was saying the same thing the first time I watched these. 😄 I wondered if those alley shoots were the first take. All of Ren's videos I've watched so far are shot very well, even when it's his band The Big Push, performing on the street.
It's deep it's dark but it's also genius. It's incredibly musical, theatrical and emotional. Oops I missed out tragical. I've listened to all Ren's songs and I have never been more impressed. For violets tale they took 20 takes and ended up with 6 or 7 full live takes to choose from. This one they chose was take #2. Ren did all the sound mixing on these videos as well. He said the sound mixing took a long time to get right on violets tail since each room and hallway had different acoustics.
And then listen to Jenny's tale again, keeping in mind she's 14. On the street, at night, alone? Walking those streets a thousand times before? Lady shaped stalactite? A statue in high heeled shoes? Jenny wasn't spared of the same hardship that ruined her mother's and her brother's lives. Violet was abused as a child, and she escaped just to be abused by someone else.
