The mixing of the classic TLDR video formats with your new podcast does not really fit well......it's mixing an "explain" video with a ...well podcast "discussion" ...for me that lowers the quality of your videos significantly which is sad because I really liked the old format.

I kind of lost track what this video was about due to the podcast section. I feel it's less to the point than regular videos and very much just a way to promote the podcast rather than provide an informative video
I think the problem is that it changes from him giving you direct sentences to it being a conversation and that makes it difficult to follow the ideas and points that are being presented.
And they talk very fast and the mic quality varies a little.
He spends far too long promoting himself. It’s a shame because his content is great

I find this format makes your videos completely unclear and defeats the reason I follow your Chanel. This did not explain why even with a majority the motion failed. Please go back to you're regular explain videos.
Please don't do more podcast segments! TLDRnews is great because it explains things clearly, the podcast segment is pure chatter and reduces TLDRNews to a regular mainstream news channel, which all just feature chatter between reporters nowadays.
Yeah, I agree. I'm getting realy annoyed with the podcast section.
generally, I'm getting fatigued with TLDR, cause what could be 2-3 minute videos are often being dragged out to get extra TH-cam advertising slots in with all the "go watch our previous video to find out more about this" but in brief here's 90% of the information and "join us on ...." the show's are now almost Too Long; Don't Watch
The amount of "original content" in this video is only 1 minute 15 seconds..... the rest is:
- Advertisements for multiple TLDR channels, podcasts, etc.
- Recycled uncommented content snippets from the parliament live stream
- Recycled content from the TLDR podcast
As much as I liked the channel so far, if this is how the future of TLDR looks like ...oh boy
I'm getting annoyed about the fact that they explain the same things in most of the videos, like the detailed explanation of prorogation in every video for 2 months. I feel like they should other stuff than Brexit if they can't make enough new content about it
@@johnydl the problem with this though, is that you expect high quality content but the author not to be paid for making it. You want both ends of the spectrum it would seem.
I would love it if the guy spent weeks, months, or even years researching each video upload, making sure there's no mistakes in the video or anything like that and ensuring its as concise as possible - no time wasted at all. The idea of him doing that whilst also asking him to not get ad revenue and work another full time job to be able to make these videos for me in his free time, well is frankly ridiculous. We all have bills to pay and I'm pretty sure this guy has to pay his editor for each video already.
People need to have reasonable expectations of their fellow humans. If someone else already does exactly what you want, go watch them and also pay attention to see how long they last.
I will say, adding in the podcast into your videos that always have fairly clean scripts and slick animations feel very messy.
I'm guessing this is partly down to practicalities - in order to keep these videos coming so quickly, which they need to do or else they will be outdated before they are uploaded due the speed at which politics is moving, then I'm guessing it's a bit quicker and easier to insert clips of a podcast than to prepare new scripts/animations etc....for each video (I'm guessing, but I'm not an expert on video editing). I don't think it dilutes the content or impact of the videos, it's just a different way of doing it. Either way it's a good thing that TDLR are managing to keep pace with events.
@@SEAN-kw9ek You are totally right. He's just trying to economize content. Those animations take a lot of time and effort to be made. It's extremely admirable what they do.
@@SEAN-kw9ek They managed before the podcast came about, I think they're just trying to promote the podcast. Kind of annoying though since we get reminded of that at the start and end of every video anyway.
And some people don't like the podcast format to boot.
They’re doing a great job and have produced an exceptional amount of content in a very short space of time. The podcast do seem a bit scrappy in contrast with the video but what they’re saying is spot on.
Please keep your explanation videos and podcasts separated.

How does Corbyn plan to renegotiate it? I mean its all very well being opposed to no deal, but you have to be in favour of something else. At least the Liberals have a concrete position (albeit since they know they will never be called on to implement it)
The problem (as demonstrated by the indicative votes) is that there is no majority in the house for ANY of the options potentially available to us.
The house would be much better spending its time trying to reach a consensus on what they actually do want.
The proposal for remaining in the customs union but leaving anything else we can got the most votes and IMO it is a very reasonable compromise given the 50/50 division we have in this country.

@@quenchize I think Labour wanted something similar the Norway model, but the EU will not budge on the backstop.. I think its a real stickler. Labour seems to have a very vague idea for a deal but I don't think anyone is going to get the EU to budge.. its very tricky and difficult. Red, Blue, Green or Yellow I am uncertain is anyone is going to convince the EU to ditch the backstop.
I would say the labour could manage to get some kind of deal and then put it on the people’s vote with 3 options, leave with their deal, leave without a deal and remain. This could unblock the situation, but always if there’s a majority.
@@quenchize Valid points, but I was aiming at BJ's rhetoric and his inability to answer any questions directly. Usually he just does a bit of name-calling and then sits down. Not that that's unique, but it would be nice for the man in sort-of charge to have some grasp of the details, especially since he's been such a vocal Brexiteer for so long. Ideally, he should know Brexit inside out.
He has never demonstrated a working knowledge of the complications of Brexit, at least not that I've seen.
I agree that Labour is a bit of a mess, which is a shame because the Tories are falling apart so the bar isn't very high. I think EEA membership makes the most sense personally, but (thankfully) I'm not in charge.
@@aidena8381 The backstop is the less damaging solution in what concerns to the Irish issue and could accommodate the GFA, the single market, free movement, etc . Unfortunately it will never be accepted by the brexit side so it´s pointless. I think there´s no solution with this parliament or any future parliament. The people´s will simply can´t be implemented (a portuguese view).
I prefer the old format even if it takes longer to make. I dont mind a video every 2-4 days.

Lads I love your videos but recently they have been super messy. I know you guys are moving into a new studio right now but I’d rather you put out less vids until that process is over. Quality over quantity. The animations obscuring the text, the talking to the camera sections, the choppy editing, the messy audio, the excessive plugs, merch mentions and calls to subscribe (I understand it has to be done but your over doing it now) and now your mixing in your podcast (which absolutely does not fit an explained video format) into the videos to promote it rather than doing what’s best for the video at hand. You guys are trying to do too much too quickly and it shows. There’s no rush, from the channel gradually.

Totally agree with all points. And I realize the anxiety that comes with moving from an extracurricular activity to a full time job, so getting money in to support the channel is very important, but the best way to grow is to keep do what you’re doing: great, clear and clean content. No sales, no soliciting for likes and subs, no endless cross-platform referencing and no quantity over quality. Don’t buy quality with subs, buy subs with quality. And if in the end you can’t make it financially sustainable, you couldn’t have changed that by begging. Integrity above all.
Having the podcast sections really ruins the flow of the video. I miss old TLDR. :(
6:07 I don't think this is a good way to plug your podcast.
For one, you're essentially citing yourself as an authority on the subject, which I have no reason to believe is warranted.
Secondly, we, as viewers, really have no idea who the people speaking are. We don't know what their background is or why we should care about their thoughts on the matter. As a result it just becomes a kind of white noise.
Lastly, there's a real issue with mixing the fact checked news content with free speculation and/or opinion, especially when the same voice that usually speaks with that fact checked authority presents in both segments. It creates needless confusion about the truth value of the information delivered.
I think it's a matter of journalistic ethics and your integrity that you find a better way to plug your podcasts in future videos.

I don't really like having a it of the podcast in the videos as it just discourages me from listening to the podcast.

The 10 minutes threshold only allows to add more ads in the middle of the video, iirc, so since tldr has none I don't think this is what is happening.
I think he's just both trying to plug his podcast and reduce his workload in these busy times.

It's such a shame that a channel called TLDR news has forced itself to make every video longer than 10 minutes for monetary gain, essentially removing the point of the channel.
This channel was one of my favorite ones, but all this filler has made me dislike it more and more.
I hope this channel will get back to it's roots.

hey TLDR, i suggest removing ur podcast from ur vids. i hope i speak for the majority, but when i watch one of your videos, it is to catch up on the current affairs base on facts, not listen to you nor your writer's opinions/forecast. as a few others has stated in the comments section. adding the podcast clips does indeed make the video extremely messy.
I think what disturbs the clear and coherent character of the video in that podcast segment, is the phrase "nobody really knows". People have come to expect informative videos which mostly discuss known or proven facts, and just waiting for the next one if something is yet uncertain.
This new format is bad. Please change it back!

I’m in my 40s and this is the first time in living memory that politicians have ever had something truly important to work on to shape the future of the U.K. I think that leave or remain we can all agree that this is a room full of the most extraordinarily inept bunch of self serving assh*oles in the country, that in any other industry would have been sacked long ago for their incompetence. The worst part of which is that those with the most power are members of the upper class aristocracy that stand to lose very little whatever the outcome, as they will always retain their position and wealth and have no understanding or interest in the ramifications for those of us that actually stand to have our lives affected by all this. I think the quality of 'TLDR' is being significantly lowered by artificially extending the duration of videos.
I don't agree, I think it's still the very best way to get all the relevant information on a topic in one place.
@@SteveItOut this channel used to have focused explanatory videos. Now in this video alone we have promotion, unstructured discussion and speculations, almost random fragments of the parliamentary debate, and some summary.

I agree with others in the comments section that the podcasts should not be included in these youtube videos, I am all for the promotion of it at the start of the video but adding clips of the podcast into the video seems messy. I've subscribed to the podcast but do not feel the urge to listen now i've heard/watched a snippet in this video. Please return to the clear well formatted videos we are used to.

I love your content, but I have to say that podcasts will drive me away. I simply won't watch those parts or videos because i do not find podcast or talk show formats interesting usually. Sorry if this damps your spirits a little, but I preferred the scripted and cleanly done original format like many commenters. Perhaps link over to podcast videos and sites and keep posting TLDR content on a slower schedule to maintain the quality without working yourself to death in the feverish pace of insanity?
Clicked on this video straight away cause I'm confused about the party tactics surrounding an election. Unfortunately didn't get the answer I was looking for, which is a first for this channel. Just some feedback. Sorry.
Hi, if I may I would suggest keeping the normal videos separate from the podcast videos. You could always rather make a podcast highlights video. This is something that you could put less effort into editing and would be easier to publish. Would definitely be interested in this. Mixing the vids don't seem to work well though. I would rather suggest reducing the amount of normal vids if it takes to much time to produce to maintain the quality, the podcast highlights and quick update vids could then substitute for the gaps. Also if you aren't familiar with the other guys we have no idea if we should consider their opinions credible or not, I might suggest having them do some separate videos also to build up some credibility in your audience's eyes.
I don't dislike the podcasts, however it doesn't fit the feeling I go for in the main series. When I watch the main series, I'm looking for this quick, snappy overview of what happened just before I go into work. The podcasts at the ends feel like, and I know this isn't true, but it feels like the last half of the video went unproduced and so a brainstorming session was thrown in and animations layered on top. I would prefer those parts be consolidated into the general way the videos are normally produced.
This is the first time I have not seen one of your videos till the end. The Podcast part ruins everything.
Okay.. now that's the first TLDR news I couldn't finish and writing a comment just after 3 minutes of watching the video. As one of the subscribers mentioned below the 'quality', 'clarity', and 'quantity' is all over the place. I hope the TLDR team will take the comments seriously and bring the quality of the old animated videos back where everything was said clearly straight to the point and with nice animations. The constant advertising of your own material is getting a bit much. I enjoy the content, less so the push to subscribe or watch other videos, which I already do. Your time would be better spent QCing your video before uploading.

It seems to me that nobody there really wants to leave the EU.
I enjoy your podcasts when I'm driving, but these videos that switch from 'information' to 'podcast' mode is really crappy. There's a loss in quality for an informational video, not to mention it becomes too long for a TLDR explanation.
If you really want to promote your podcast, you'd be better off giving us the TLDR information here, and then saying 'for a more detailed discussion on this topic, listen to today's podcast episode'.

Here is another comment agreeing that the new format isn't very good. Go back to the old format. Do the podcast on the side. I recommend this channel to people, and if this format prevails, I will no longer be able to do so.
So you need a super majority for another general election, but only a normal majority to leave the EU, I think they got the priorities wrong

@@Miiias .if you get half of the votes you can't have a majority in a yes/ no vote .A majority is a majority .over 50 pc of votes .You can have a large or substantial or , small , majorities.

You DID NOT explain the position of Labour not agreeing to an election AND Boris refusing to request an extension which is how it stands NOW as the EU have failed to amend the WA to what Boris wants re: Backstop, etc.
Doesn't this mean Boris can easily sit back and run down the clock and wait for the EU to shift their position otherwise its NO DEAL on 31st Oct?
Might it be possible that Boris would rather (illegally) break the bill which should have prevented the No Deal Brexit instead of asking for a Delay? So maybe he will let a No deal Brexit happen and face the judicial consequences later? Would that be possible at all?
Then there will be a no confidence vote on Oct 19th, and Jeremy Corbyn will ask for a delay.

The mps also legally voted to pass article 50 which said we would leave with or without a deal on the 29th of March.
Most of the MP's were elected into parliament with a manifesto that said they would respect the referendum and leave the EU.

I like the channel, I like the podcast, but the two do *not* belong together.
Prorogation resets the clock on whether or not the same motion can be made twice. This question was posed to the speaker when May’s government tried to reintroduce her plan earlier this year. The answer was that after a prorogation, the same motion CAN be made as before the prorogation
The podcast does not help the quality of your videos. I usually exit the video by the time the podcast part starts.

You make a lot of videos, and it explains the rather simple editing and graphics recycled and nauseum. Frankly, it's fine. But the podcast doesn't sit well with the video. Switching from single narrator to three, from narration to dialogue and vastly different microphones causes an information indigestion
The podcast section seemed interesting, but as a non native english speaker, it was speaking too fast and I had a hard time understanding what was going on. Please do not do that again. Feel free to mention the podcast and summerize what was said.
Me two. Listening to very fast speaking people with different tone pitches, different speeds, different volumes, with additional background noise from the others and in a more casual way makes it very hard to follow.

So our shamefully incompetent MPs continue to "debate" what music the band should play while the ship goes down. When the 31st rolls round, regardless of what they may have come up with, the EU will simply say "That's All Folks, bye." The UK will be out of the EU without a deal, for good or for ill, and the house of commons will be further exposed as the chumps they are.
I don't suppose our head of state has been conducting her own negotiations? Maybe on the 31st we'll have a proclamation along the lines of "We are pleased to announce we have agreed an equitable brexit deal with the EU that we are pleased to pass in to law on the behalf of our country and it's people. The alternative is another civil war."

@Tea Lover no it's a constitutional monarchy she does have some power. when the prime minister asks the queen to open a new parliament and she grands it they can't un ask it. that would bring the crown in discredit and that is not done.

A medicine shortage, recession and rioting wouldn't make the country better so a no deal Brexit isn't in the country's interest. I assume you think it is in the country's interest, why?
