I believe as long as you work hard, plan ahead, and enjoy making stuff, you will find success in the long run. Great point about only worrying about what's relevant. :)
unity is a game engine not a place you publish your games.. why would it take any percentage? roblox studio doesnt take a percentage either, roblox does. You post the game you made in unity in steam or epic or somewhere else, and those take percentage. and you are never making as much as adopt me bro im ngl
@@AndKii True, unity itself doesn't take a percentage, but when you publish a game made with unity, you'd typically do so on platforms like Steam or Epic, which do take a cut. The reason Roblox is appealing is because it has a built-in player base, and they handle distribution and monetization, meaning the cut they take is just part of the deal. The real appeal of Roblox is the massive audience and the chance to make serious revenue from in-game purchases, not just the engine itself. Also, while making $77 million in a year like Adopt Me is rare, it shows the potential of Roblox's monetization system, especially for games that hit big
To be fair, making Roblox games can be a good start for inspiring game developers. However, Roblox development can be very hard for most people. They have to spend months just to ruthlessly learn the basics of building and coding. Not many people have the time and dedication for it. Although most Roblox players wants to be a successful dev, many of them just give up before they even get started. I started off Roblox development just to make games for my friends. Now days, I have done some commissions for other people before and I started my own Roblox game. What I can tell you from this, it is very hard for you to be able to maintain consistency on Roblox development. If you come to just to make money, just start a TH-cam Channel or an online business instead. It will have a higher profit margin than creating Roblox games. but it will FAR more difficult.
Cool comment, I read all of it. Yeah I think you're right most people just give up on Roblox dev because of the commitment it requires, but it's not Roblox game dev specifically that's hard, game dev as a whole is hard, and I'm glad it is, otherwise everyone would be a game dev. Also thanks for the comment :]
I'm gonna stick to Roblox game development because my goal isn't to be a gazillionaire, but just to make people feel entertained by my creations. I just wanna make enough money for me to buy groceries, a house, a car, and to live a decent life. I would feel guilty having a billion dollars, I would probably donate a lot of that to people who really need money.
I'm not gonna lie, I use unreal as an indie dev, and I personally think its easier than unity(unless you're using C++ in unreal). Maybe that's just me though. I used to use Roblox studio, and I though I was alright, but you call yourself intermediate and you're a lot better than how I was.
I took a look at both Unreal and Unity a while back, main reason I didn't commit is because Roblox is more beneficial for me right now. Also I appreciate you acknowledging my coding efforts, it motivates me :] Also thanks for the comment!
I don't know what to do, I actually though Lua is a pretty good thing, learning scripting, modelling, and bunchh of other stuff, but if you think for a bit, you realize that there's a really high chance of failing this thing, I just spent like 20 hours learning developing Lua and I have choice to quit, or learn other stuff like C++ (one of the languages I really want to learn in future) For now, Roblox studio is pretty fun to learn, and it helps me be at least not feel like a failure in life, so for now, I will just stay in Lua, even though I don't think I will succeed.
I started with roblox studio when I was like 14. Now that im in highschool I can finally switch because we are learning about py,c#,unity and other stuff so it's the best point where I can switch.
It's so messed up that Roblox gets 75% cut from 5000 games at once while you as a dev get a 25% cut from just one game. If a game on average makes $1000, you get $250, and Roblox gets $3,750,000 (750 x 5000 games)
yes you should, roblox cashing-out rates are so low because the company is greedy as hell. the rates being low allows them to pay less money to the small % of devs that actually find success, and almost nothing for smaller devs
here is the thing tho luau is easier than C# or C++ and you can also do commissions and not just publish games in the platform. Yes i do agree with you in terms of roblox's greed, but honestly studio is a very fun engine if you do it only for passion.
You set yourself up for failure in the long term if you choose Roblox's engine. Switching to S&box or Unity was one of the best decisions I made in my gamedev journey.
i have a question, what is the correct format for coding something. like if i want to make something how should i go about doing that. i think this is whats holding me back from being where i think i could be at. i would have a really cool idea but then have no idea how to start. love your content keep it up!❤
If you want to learn the theory for Coding Structures and Design you'd usually go to University for that, that's where they'll teach you the theory behind coding, but for literal coding, you'd learn from youtube and self study. Learning the theory can prevent you from making basic mistakes, bugs, better software/game design, etc overall. However, that's only if you actually learn it and memorize.
It depends to be honest you should give up on developing roblox IF you plan on making money with freedom but if your starting out and seeking experience in my opinion roblox is totally okay 👍
Imo, roblox is getting very popular over time (mainly the anime games) in time it will be worth it making games on roblox your still making millions of dollars, it's VERY easy to get your game known, just roblox engine sucks so much, the scripting, vfx, and model trig limit, roblox is limiting it self so much
I dont think must solo devs get someone to market their games usually like maybe their friends can help but they don't really pay them but maybe indie studios but I'm not sure lol
@digitalcringepolice If you are basing your game's playerbase off of roblox's algorithm then you should quit already lmao. There are way better methods then to build your game off the roblox algorithm that aren't based off luck.
@digitalcringepolice broski no one relies on the algorithm especially for gamedev. You can spend years building a game on ANY Platform and if it dosent have good marketing/publisher youre never gonna get success.
@@iamLudius yeah absolutely, if you have the ability to learn a real engine and not quit there is no reason not to (not quitting is the difficult part since stuff like ue5 is ridicilously complex)
i always have shit game ideas, although if i have a good one lets be honest roblox are greedy fuckers and are just wanting money by having ridiculous taxes, however immense video as always
