    I would say another important thing to do is to get a good nights sleep before the exam at, science says that you do actually need 10 hours to function at your peak, also eat well the night before and in the morning leading up to the tmua you should do some easy tmua questions to warm up your brain before going into the exam.

    Thank you so much for this wonderful video! Do you have any predictions for this years TMUA paper, also the fact that economics applicants have to take it as well?

      Not really, they haven't announced any changes in the spec or course as far as I understand. I'd like to think though that some of the early questions *might* be made more accessible considering there are applicants for non-maths courses now. However, based on the difficulty of the old ECAA, I doubt it

    • @hustler168
      @hustler168 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t know if I’m exaggerating but ECAA is just TMUA with less time.

    • @rtwodrew2
      @rtwodrew2  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A little, ECAA advanced math is very similar to TMUA paper 1, but TMUA paper 2 is very different

    Hi there, is it essential to go through the syllabus before doing the real paper?

    • @SirMarteenio
      @SirMarteenio 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is recommended because that way you don't waste the practice papers (to test you knowledge) on things which you know you don't know

  • @sooovo_
    @sooovo_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Apart from papers what other resources are there for practising?

    • @rtwodrew2
      @rtwodrew2  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      If you're talking about paper 2 logic, not a lot. For just general maths questions, the first 10 of MAT and the old ECAA (advanced math section) papers are good. Honestly though any maths is good, UKMT, AEA, the challenge questions out of the pearson textbooks. Bear in mind that a good score here most often simply leads to an interview, which requires a different sort of maths that also needs practising.

    is a month long enough to prepare

    • @rtwodrew2
      @rtwodrew2  2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      If the question is 'Should I have started earlier', then the brutal answer is probably yes. But spending the next month preparing is still a whole lot better than not doing anything at all for it, and the earlier you do start the better

    • @hustler168
      @hustler168 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends. If you spend the whole day then yes but you probably have other things to work with too.

      This seems to suggest that 24/40 is a good score. Of course what score achieves an interview depends on the course, and university

      i know its a bit late now but for anyone in the future, avg cambridge compsci score for offer holders in 2021 was 7.1 i believe? or very similar

    • @rtwodrew2
      @rtwodrew2  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Emma-vc2om The average required will be less to gain an interview, and then if you are someone who interviews well (or has practised a lot) you might be able to gain an offer with a slightly lower score than average, so dont worry too much about hitting 7.1
