We grew up vacationing in a travel trailer, spent many a week at state parks. They are some of the most beautiful, well- maintained places I've ever been. Pop's smile is everything. 😁

Actually, we did our meetup at Claytor Lake last summer. Here's the video. studio.th-cam.com/users/videoJB5UNcuQPXw/edit I think everyone just assumed that our meetup this summer would be at Claytor Lake again, or at least somewhere in the mid-Atlantic states. But since we are taking a 6-week trip out west this summer, we decided to do it in Colorado in July to meet some of our western viewers. Our next one is already scheduled for Destin, Florida on Nov 16th. I assume that next summer we will be back in Virginia somewhere, but that is still to be determined.

Beautiful lake with the mountains around it. It reminds me of Lake Lure here in NC. It has the swimming beach with the mountains around it. It also has a town in it that was flooded when they made it. You will have to keep a couple of those fold up chairs that come in carrying bags in your truck all the time. I am a younger version of Pop on disability, so my husband will get out the chair for me to plop myself in and watch all the people and scenery. We love stopping along back roads in the mountains or near the coast and checking out the local scenery and people. That place looks like a real nice place for you guys to bring your RV. God bless.

Some of the views remind me of my area in the Adirondacks without all the boats, more private there's a dam that the Hudson River feeds and a camping area about 2 miles away. Very nice Park area. Blessings to all. 🙂🇺🇸

What a cool spot! But I didn't see anyone wearing masks and it was pretty crowded - not much social distancing. I'm glad you guys stayed away from the crowds on the beach... especially with Pops. We are so strict about it here, we get fined if we are caught anywhere in public, even outside, without a mask on. It's mandated here. And none of the state parks or anything are open. We're still in the thick of things. Can't wait for this to end!!!

We would have called it a “Sunday drive” when we were kids we would of get in the car and would ask where we were going and Dad would always reply with “wherever the car takes us” at which point he would receive a groan from us kids but we would try our best to be “seen and not heard” hoping the car would end up at the Dairy Queen! Lol! Thanks for sharing your adventure! Enjoyed it! Love those historic landmarks, they are soooo important, if it wasn’t there probably would’ve been torn down and condos put up! God bless. So nice! Here in NM, our lakes are mostly shut down so no fishin. By the time we got to a lake that is open it will be time to close it. It helped to watch your video.
Floor length windows were multi purpose. Air flow of course, a must in the south. They were used as egress points throughout the large house because taxes were based on number of doors. Us southerners do what we can to avoid taxes. It has been hot here in middle Georgia too. The lake tour was lovely thanks.
That's a really beautiful place and a great place to go camping! I would just be leary about the lack of social distancing. I live in a very populated area and I just don't trust going anywhere like that because a lot of people are not taking Covid-19 seriously. So glad you enjoyed yourself, stay well. 👍🏻😊
One of my favorite places is Virginia. Our group used to meet at Hungry Mother State Park in Marion VA each October and it was so beautiful! The color changes in the fall were amazing. There is a lake there also but I don’t remember the name of it. Close by is Abington VA and it’s an adorable town. Anyhow, thanks for taking us along. Good to see pops out with you. Take care.

I love the ROOMINESS and lay-out of the park...beautiful long, sandy beach and gorgeous old trees to snuggle under. HOW LOVELY! I really did not find the vid too shaky Bill...you must have a 'stable hand' = surgeon in a former life? (LOL). SoOOOoo nice to see a; 'special guest' appearance from Pops! His; 'Attitude of Gratitude is BE-attitude! And Elizabeth, finds the perfect rocker and view = by beloved roses. I really enjoyed coming along...thanks for having us! I hope you get a chance to take your RV there...as NOW that you have well-scouted the place...you will know what to expect and partake of, to suit your tastes. We live about an hour and 1/2 north up I 81. I have taken my grands and great grands there to the swimming area. A very enjoyable place. And beautiful! Glad you got out a little.

They did the same thing when Loch Raven Reservoir was created in Baltimore County. There is an entire town that was covered by the water.
