The only way to make money on chickens is to become NPIP certified (free and super simple) and breed and sell them. Becoming NPIP certified allows you to ship your birds throughout the United States. My husband and I did pretty well on it, until we burned out. Lol. If it's something you ever consider, I recommend purchasing a good large incubator. Quality does matter if you breed a lot.

Great information to help younger folks get a start. So much of the younger generation are getting into the tech industry I often wonder if the country is going to have a shortage of blue collar workers. I learned a lot of different trades when I was younger and I enjoyed doing things for myself. Not having to depend on someone else to come build or repair was comforting.

The only thing I will add to the setting up a spot for camping, clamping or a small house, you still have to check your counties/local areas laws for that because you could actually be fined if you don’t have either permits or license plus insurance would really need to be a must because if someone gets injured and wants to sue (even with proper paperwork signed) you could lose everything you have.
The same with boarding animals. Depending on where you do this, if authorities find out and there are laws against it without a license, you could get in trouble and be fined.
Sadly I have heard of this happening. I am not meaning to be negative. Great ideas on here though.

Our insurance co. told us they would cancel us if we did any of it, even though hipcamp provides liability insurance. So check with your homeowner's ins. first. So for now the best we can do is raise our own meat, milk and eggs.

Definitely important to plan for, but there is also nothing wrong with peeing in the woods and packing out poo lol. They make pop-up camp bathroom tents and portable toilets campers can bring as part of their gear if they need something special ;)

I've tried to make money with bees... Ended up being a money pit. There's not much money in honey or honey products unless you're large scale. Also you need to be in an area that can support bees. If you have large farms nearby with very little wild areas and forest the bees won't have much to feed off of. You can make money selling bees and hive boxes once you're established but it takes a long while. We are about to start a campground and selling firewood through a farm stand since we live in a recreational area with lots of other camp grounds.

Worm cast farming - sells for big bucks both the worms and small sacks of castings with little investment. The last one is herbal medicines- you need some knowledge but can grow specialist plants and also run courses on how to prep the plants to make teas / tinctures etc.

@@raisingwildflowerson top of the earned income and child tax credit didn't they start giving an additional tax credit of 360 a month per child? I know a lot of people got checks last month. But it might be different from state to state for the additional 360 a month per child that only started a couple years ago.

@matthewmcmahon6727 The federal monthly child payment bill didn’t even come close to passing … and it won’t. So if people are getting a child stimulus check, it must be state issued 🤷‍♀️ IDK, but I am definitely not getting anything 😆

the world doesn't need more domestic animals. I'd much rather see my acreage as an oasis for trees and wildlife.

They use the chickens for eggs and if they needed to they could get milk from the goats or use the livestock for food if they had to. The animals are still going to exist whether they have them on their property or someone else buys them.

So how are you going to fund your nature reserve? Or get funds for things you can't grow yourself?
