Funnily enough, the 3-quadrant RRoD *does* have an error code attached to it. When it happens, if you hold the console sync button (as though you're hooking up a wireless controller) and tap the disc eject button, the lights will change. You can extrapolate a number based on how many lights are flashing each time you press eject (up to four digits, before it goes back to the ring error). I think it was the XDA scene which tried to decrypt what the codes meant. Of course, that information only helps people who open the console up themselves. To a layperson, it all just means "find a cardboard box and send the console away for two months", though.
Well if you didint know sometime the 3 leds are cause by the dvd drive or sometimes something wrong on the motherboard or in another case the CPU and/or the gpu has desoldered from the System itself and you will need to resolder the gpu and or CPU to the motherboard

1:50 its pretty simple to find whats wrong, press the sync and eject buttons and you get a 4 number error code, mine was 0110 which was a solder joint issue with the ram
Actually, for XBOX 360 S (time = 4:00), you can presse together the the joystick sensor button and the dvd eject button to see the error code. The lights in the power button will turn. Do this 4 times to see the full error code (ex: 0101). Note that 0 is actually 4 lights.
One time I bought a purse and I forgot that I hadn’t payed for it yet and almost walked out with it on my shoulders. Not my brightest moment, and yes, I did end up paying for it and it is now one of my favorite purses
I accidentally stole a PlayStation gift card when I was 6. I got caught before we got to the car and we put it back. Worst part about it was that we didn’t have a PlayStation and we only had a 360 at the time lol
I had an Xbox 360 Slim for about 7 years, me and my dad spent a lot of time on it and it was so much fun. Around 2018, we tried to turn it on one morning and it just wouldn’t work. I saw a red light on my Xbox and I knew it was done for. Because I saw those error videos online. We knew that the Xbox would no longer work. Although, I currently have an Xbox 2001 at my house. I’m on the hunt for a 360 elite.
People who don't wanna wait, 0:14 is where video actually starts 1ring = hardware faolure, component of the hardware might be missing/corrupted. 2ring =!Overheating, 3ring can have same requirements but but it is uncommon then 2r 3ring = 1ring, but more than 1 component fails/die. 4ring, Av isn't detected. Error code = Same, usually happens when you get RROD
Same, but my mums is 13 or over years old cause my mum used to play sims 3. since my brother kept putting scratched disks in my Xbox it had RROD and I was sooo mad at him like I told him all the time to not put in scratched disks, so I use my mums Xbox.
When i was 7,i got rrod (3 lines) i asked dad "dad what should i do" "turn it on and off" and it worked fsr, the same xbox stays next to the tv in my room, still works perfectly, i got it when i was 4
Actually 3 piece ring has error codes. Not always displayable on screen though. Most of the issues cannot be determined by the Xbox, but the ones that can can be easily determined with the secondary code.
The RRoD (3 ring) not only has a error code but it also means it cannot communicate with a component (NOT MULTIPLE). By holding the sync and tapping the eject button you should be able to see what it cannot communicate with via a 4 digit code it gives you. 1 ring = 1, 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = 0. Take 1023 for an example, it usually means it cannot communicate with an ethernet-related component. The error itself is because of bad GPU design in the soulder balls. 5:55 I actually got this error when trying to fix my 360 S. It had a false overheating issue that required replacing some resistors on the motherboard with jumper wire. After removing them, the wire I got was as thin as a hair string and I couldn't solder it because it was so damn small. I eventually just used solder instead of wire since it has the same effect. Doing this sort of fixed the issue. Instead of just instantly overheating, the Xbox turned on this time and showed me this error, which was then followed by the fans going into maximum overdrive and the console shutting off. I just gave up and bought a series X
2:41 imagine you just went to go get something in the middle of the night and left your xbox on to come back and then you just hear that Edit: my computer just did this tonight, and it scared the ever living hell outta me.
yea because some errors could be creepy, loud and very very bad like how I got my first BSoD on a Windows xp, back then I was confused and kind of scared because there's this blue screen telling me words I didn't understand because I was just a smol boi which is why I like how Windows 10 let's you know you got a BSoD way less I guess "creepy" by just saying "yikes your computers screwed, no worries we'll restart for you"
"TURN DOWN THE VOLUME" Thanks for the volume warning. Even when I wear ear protection during the time that sound was made during the RRoD part would've made my ears bleed because I have sensitive ears.
When you said the ventilation error was the rarest, it's actually the most common for my old Xbox 360. Every time it would overheat with 2 red rings and crash, you would boot it up again and it would display this message.
What the codes mean: E11 - This error occurs if the CPU is overheating. E12 - This error occurs if the GPU is overheating. E13 - This error occurs if the RAM is overheating. E64 - This error occurs if something goes wrong while flashing the drive or installing a modchip.A sign for it is that the dvd-drive doesnt eject the tray anymore. DVD drive timed out during reset. It can also be caused by a faulty DVD power or SATA cables(edsondario & Fios89) E65 - This error occurs if something goes wrong while flashing the drive or installing a modchip. A sign for it is that the dvd-drive can still be flashed and read out. According to XBH: DVD drive is not DMA configured E66 - This error occurs when you replace the dvd-drive and forget to spoof it with the correct version string of the drive you replaced.... E67 - This error occurs when your harddrive is defective, it might still work sometimes....Hard drive timed out during reset. There is also a small chance that it is a cold joint under the Southbridge causing problems with the I/O of the HDD. E68 - This error occurs when your harddrive is defective, it might still work sometimes.... It can also happen because of a bad eeprom or a wrong security sector. It can also be a problem with the internal connection of the harddrive to the mainboard...According to XBH: Hard drive not DMA configured imgbox.com/9xqarzKm E69 - This error occurs when your harddrives security sector is unreadable, if you have played around with that make sure to have the correct security sector on the drive. However it could also just be defective and trigger the error because of that. E70 - HDD Error (Corrupt Filesystem/partitions) or Hard drive not found E71 - This error is related to a failed dashboard update, can also be NAND related if you have an Infectus chip. It can also often be caused by a cold joint under the Southbridge(if it wasnt caused by an update). According to XBH: Error within Xam E72 - This error is related to a loose pin or a not existent NAND chip, can also happen if you flashed it badly with an Infectus chip and/or the NAND is dead. According to XBH: Error within Xam E73 - This error is caused by a cold solder joint under the Southbridge or the ethernet chip.In rare cases it can also be triggered by a cold joint under the GPU on one of the lines that run to the Southbridge chip. And missing parts(caps, resistors...) under the Southbridge can trigger this error as well. E74 - This error is caused by a cold solder joint under the GPU, (H)ANA-chip or in between. Mostly it is one of the outer solder balls on the side facing the (H)ANA chip so a shim increases the chanced of success quite a bit. Can also be a component that is missing or damaged so look for missing parts near the GPU and the H/ANA chip. imgbox.com/HOZfslaf E75 - This error is related to the network chip, might be power related or so.This can happen while installing and NME 2. In general it sounds like a cold solder joint somewhere there. However it can also be a Hitachi DVD-drive that is not connected... According to XBH: Couldn't read ethernet phy vendor/wrong ethernet vendor E76 - This error is caused by a dead network chip. This can happen when a lightning hits your house and the network chip is under high voltage. According to XBH: Couldn't complete ethernet reset E77 - This error is caused by a dead network chip. It can occur when your house gets hit in a thunderstorm. According to XBH: phy request is already processing/ reading reg failed/ Failed to write reg E78 - AsicId check failed E79 - This error occurs when your harddrive is defective, it might still work sometimes.... There is also a small chance that it is a cold joint under the Southbridge causing problems with the I/O of the HDD. It can also be related to wiring the diodes while JTAGGING. Couldn't start xam.xex E80 - Wrong LDV version in NAND Flash. You have the new dashboard update but not the resistor R3T6, follow known fixes to see how to resolve the problem. E82 - This fault is due to the consoles mainboard failing. This can be a fault on the Central Processor / Graphics processor, it can also be a component failure on the main board. *Ventilation Error - Very Rare* Well Shit. I got that about 30 times one day. Imagine 5 kids huddled in front of the tv (me and my younger siblings earlier this year) on a hot summer day watching scratched dvds until they wouldn't play anymore, stuck home with no air conditioner, no wifi, only cheap pizza and tons of sticky rice in the fridge that hadn't been cleaned in months. The Xbox (we have the one without rings with the button you had to press down) kept overheating so much and I would wait 5 mins then just turn it back on again and then wait to get the error again, rinse and repeat 😅
The Xbox 360 being rushed to the market is one of the reasons why it keeps getting the Red Ring of Death. Before the console was brand new, if it was never rushed to the market, then the RRoD wouldn't be very common at all.
The 360 has an integrated audio chip (inside the gpu) so when the gpu dies it usually produces some very interesting noises. I used to repair 360s back in the day
My family's X360 actually overheated and got an error message. We all was panicking and then my oldest brother was calm so he turned the console off, still works from 2015 to now!
I'll explain what some of the *_E_* errors are. E64 means some kind of DVD drive failure. Some report it as a loose SATA cable, but the more common failure mode seems to be some kind of NAND/firmware failure. E68 means insufficient power. Self explanatory. E74 is one you don't want. The error is caused by a solder joint under the GPU or the video output chip becoming damaged, or loose. E82 is overheating. That's all, in order.
I've seen in these comments that E74 pops up together with the 1-quadrant RRoD, so it's basically the big boss of E errors Basically it's the "you better give that bad boy over to Microsoft, your chances of getting your console back safe and alright are decreasing every second" error code
NOTE: on the Xbox 360 S (Slim) the RDOD ONLY means 2 red lights on a xbox 360 arcade edition. Which means that my fans were spinning fast and no error code is displayed on the screen. Its exactly like 2 lights on a xbox 360 arcade but the difference is that the slim version only have 1 light

3ring = 1ring, but more than 1 component fails/die.
4ring, Av isn't detected.

PJ Berri my 11 year old Xbox 360 had the RROD once and hasn't had it since.
My 360 from 05 still works, never rrod.
Same, but my mums is 13 or over years old cause my mum used to play sims 3. since my brother kept putting scratched disks in my Xbox it had RROD and I was sooo mad at him like I told him all the time to not put in scratched disks, so I use my mums Xbox.
my brother's and mine didn't have rrod :|
At least it's not corrupted or overheating or something wrong

What the codes mean:
E11 - This error occurs if the CPU is overheating.
It can also be caused by a faulty DVD power or SATA cables(edsondario & Fios89)
E65 - This error occurs if something goes wrong while flashing the drive or installing a modchip. A sign for it is that the dvd-drive can still be flashed and read out. According to XBH: DVD drive is not DMA configured
E66 - This error occurs when you replace the dvd-drive and forget to spoof it with the correct version string of the drive you replaced....
It can also be a problem with the internal connection of the harddrive to the mainboard...According to XBH: Hard drive not DMA configured
imgbox.com/9xqarzKm
E69 - This error occurs when your harddrives security sector is unreadable, if you have played around with that make sure to have the correct security sector on the drive. However it could also just be defective and trigger the error because of that.
E70 - HDD Error (Corrupt Filesystem/partitions) or Hard drive not found
E71 - This error is related to a failed dashboard update, can also be NAND related if you have an Infectus chip. It can also often be caused by a cold joint under the Southbridge(if it wasnt caused by an update). According to XBH: Error within Xam
E72 - This error is related to a loose pin or a not existent NAND chip, can also happen if you flashed it badly with an Infectus chip and/or the NAND is dead. According to XBH: Error within Xam
E73 - This error is caused by a cold solder joint under the Southbridge or the ethernet chip.In rare cases it can also be triggered by a cold joint under the GPU on one of the lines that run to the Southbridge chip.
Can also be a component that is missing or damaged so look for missing parts near the GPU and the H/ANA chip.
imgbox.com/HOZfslaf
E75 - This error is related to the network chip, might be power related or so.This can happen while installing and NME 2. In general it sounds like a cold solder joint somewhere there. However it can also be a Hitachi DVD-drive that is not connected... According to XBH: Couldn't read ethernet phy vendor/wrong ethernet vendor
E76 - This error is caused by a dead network chip. This can happen when a lightning hits your house and the network chip is under high voltage. According to XBH: Couldn't complete ethernet reset
E77 - This error is caused by a dead network chip. It can occur when your house gets hit in a thunderstorm. According to XBH: phy request is already processing/ reading reg failed/ Failed to write reg
E78 - AsicId check failed
E79 - This error occurs when your harddrive is defective, it might still work sometimes....
There is also a small chance that it is a cold joint under the Southbridge causing problems with the I/O of the HDD. It can also be related to wiring the diodes while JTAGGING. Couldn't start xam.xex
E80 - Wrong LDV version in NAND Flash. You have the new dashboard update but not the resistor R3T6, follow known fixes to see how to resolve the problem.
E82 - This fault is due to the consoles mainboard failing. This can be a fault on the Central Processor / Graphics processor, it can also be a component failure on the main board.

*Ventilation Error - Very Rare*
Well Shit.
I would recommend a PlayStation.

The Xbox 360 being rushed to the market is one of the reasons why it keeps getting the Red Ring of Death. Before the console was brand new, if it was never rushed to the market, then the RRoD wouldn't be very common at all.

I've seen in these comments that E74 pops up together with the 1-quadrant RRoD, so it's basically the big boss of E errors
Basically it's the "you better give that bad boy over to Microsoft, your chances of getting your console back safe and alright are decreasing every second" error code
