Wish you would have started with this explanation. I wish you both the best and it's refreshing to hear people still have honor and believe in a man's word and handshake. We need more humanity today.

The work and energy that is being put forth by them now is going to reverberate for a very long time. Thank you for shining a light on these two lights!
Thank you Pete for providing more information. That land where Jim has been growing food is extremely fertile and nutrient dense so prayers that it will continue to be in use for food production for generations to come.
The local community is losing Jim's daily presence. He is working to leave his knowledge and community goals behind in Tanner's family. Jim will still be with us. : )

I would love to donate and help folks out. But, we don’t have enough for our own mortgage, and it looks to be getting worse. My prayers are with you and Tanner, may God bless you all!
Let’s pray that the upcoming agreement moves supernaturally without focused monetary gain and back to care for community. Much greater forces of the divine are watching the hearts of men. Blessings to all. 🌞🌱❤️
Hey I said I’d donate when you originally posted the request. I just donated today!! I’m willing to take a chance on Tanner. I trust Jim’s judgment and I’ve heard Tanner’s passion for farming and trust him to do some great things on that plot of land. Good luck Tanner. Looking forward to your success.
I just found out about your farm and your farming today. Looks like you do exceptionally well with the smaller space you are working with. And I hope the Gofundme is continuing to help with your efforts to save the farm. There is a local guy I listen to (Green Gregs) where I heard about the Dervaes family in Pasadena, CA that farms on a 1/10th an acre. And makes a living like you do. Maybe something for Tanner to look into how they operate to improve your production even more.
So is PETE going to get up north more to keep up with, "what's growing on," in the north with JIM??? Totally our favorite guest and he is so motivating, the guy just gets up early and hustles. Also I would like to se what TANNER is able to do with this farm.
Makes perfect sense...01) keep it going - that garden is like a well oiled machine...02) Fresh energy - teach the next gen of growers for tomorrow...03) Make it an attractive practical proposition for the next gen...04) Keep the vulchers away...i.e. Lawyers, etc...05) It's up to Jim to decide what's best for him and his family - so who cares what we think
Good luck Jim , Tanner , Pete , im sure it will all work out as planned for years to come, im in the same boat as tanner , I dont own land yet , but have been running my own landscaping business for serval years in south FL and saving like crazy so that i can one day soon buy my own land and do tons of growing .
I donated and I'm trying to get more people to know about yous all and donate. This is so needed in the pasco area and we gotta come together and help them yall.
I've been recently to they're farm, late Jan 2023. Seeing it operate on a tasty Tuesday is inspiring and amazing. Besides the farmers ;-) , the soil is the most valuable asset. I learned more in an afternoon there than anywhere else. I hope that helps you understand what they are saying.
Thank you Pete for keeping us informed. I pray people will donate a little and they in turn will receive. Pete, what about offering a membership or free training in exchange for value of funds donated? That way people might be more willing? Sadly I am in a different country otherwise I would sow into these!!!
Cost of living in south Florida is definitely getting prohibitive for tropical farmers. Makes me wonder if these types of farms will mostly be gone in 10 years. All turned into condos… wish them all the best. Sorry to hear people don’t want to help. Life is hard out there right now. Bless
What about USDA Farm Service Administration Beginning Farmer funding? I used a operation loan to start my small beef operation in north central Florida last year.
Investing in a dream that has the potential to create new opportunities is worth our collective. I ve volunteered many years with Habitat for Humanity and have witnessed first hand the success of people having a chance to make a good life for themselves by participating in the building of their own home.
Makes perfect sense. I thought Jim still owned the little house across the street and the one next door was just a neighbor that let Jim use his/her land.
This land has had so much added to it's richness over the years of Pete building the soil! It's just crazy to suggest purchasing another property without a rich enough soil to produce abundant yields!
Two houses. Need two families to live in them and share the expense. Jim can guide in the interim but he will be in Maine full time in the years to come, with his new family. He can construct a greenhouse in Maine and grow anything he wants all year. That should be the next phase.
I live in Maine. Growing all year round isn’t done here, because people say there isn’t enough sunshine, and the electric bill for grow lights and heat would far outweigh any advantage and monies you could get if anything would and could grow… I don’t know if they are right or not. I wish Jim all the best… he’s got a difficult growing season ahead…
What if you put together a Master class with Jim on market gardening in Florida ? Give as much as possible to the GoFundMe. That would add up much quicker. Id be your first student lol
100,000 people donate $2 . Done and dusted. If people thought more like this there would never be homelessness. Selfishness, envy, resentment needs to get off, Crawl back in the hole it came from.
This whole thing feels so off to me. Jim clearly has an emotional attachment to his property and he is not ready to part with it. I understand that completely, especially after all of the sweat equity he has built into it over many years. To talk like this operation can't be done elsewhere is kind of crazy. When it comes to land production, Pete's new market garden was off the ground and running on it's first season on virgin land. Why was there no discussion of USDA ag loans in this video? Why no serious mention of Tanner possibly leasing the land instead of buying it? You need to put together an actual business plan for this whole project. I'm half wondering if what you are doing is even legal? It seems like the fundraiser is set up as a personal thing when the funds are going to be used for a business? I think my whole problem with this project is it seems like the entire thing was planned around donations instead of first exhausting every other means. If it was a last ditch effort to save the farm and if it fell through Jim and Tanner would be homeless and never farm again that's one thing but they absolutely have options it seems like they are not considering which leads me to question so many other aspects of the project. Pete has a ton of business experience and I would like to see some of that expertise implemented into this plan while sharing with the audience and we could all learn even more from this. Instead we seem to be doubling down on handouts. I think you all are capable of doing much better.
Tanner is just another white guy looking for handouts. There are so many unexplored options or at least undocumented in these videos. A second job. Stacking enterprises like short term rentals. And there are Solutions explored and discussed and written off as “too much trouble/lawyers”. Both of which are personal preferences. But it’s easier to ask for “donations” to support a lifestyle choice. Nah.
It just sounds like Jim's brother is being a gold digger and screwing his brother. If he makes so much a month... for the last 12 years...why wasn't $$ set aside...so he had a nest egg in case something happened...
You obviously have never tried to purchase farm land. I have and it was humiliating and couldn’t afford it anyway. Working for the government is a pain. I signed up for one program years ago which I’m not even using and now I have to tell them everything I am doing.
@Amy Jones if you didn't take their money... you don't have to tell them anything...beyond the normal state requirements. Kids can't even hold plant sales in ny at a farmers market for "donations" without a usda inspection LEGALLY in ny... that's not big ag...thats the state.
Tanner please be careful!!! I believed the person who shook my hand and I was taken across. I do wish you and Jim the best. A contract written by a lawyer might protect you both,. Becareful!!!!
TANNER, it's called hustle if you want to work for yourself. Get a second job, get a loan, don't just ask for a hand out..... just cuase you found a place you wanna settle down and stay forever doesn't mean other people should buy it for you.
can't believe they pulled the ol "we ask for your help but don't need your help" thing haha. They entire were not broke rant tanner gave well glad your not broke so buy your own house and work like the rest of us. Haha 😂😂 these types are impossible to do right by.
Real Estate balloon in west coast central Florida is ridiculous and prohibitive fir mid-income/self-sustaining people and holy cow, for a resident farmer willing to improve, nourish and provide food for the community...there us seemingly, no help at all. We really, really need you as living model of how healthy this lifestyle is for the environment and floridians...to flourish and continue. It would be a tremendous loss if this endeavor to save, fails.
So Jim has made lots of money here, has only one kids and a home and used to work so has plenty of money. Jim’s brother owns this and his own place and wants to sell. Jim wants to get money from everyone to SELL a house to Tanner. Lol. What?!
Why doesn't Tanner simply buy the house from Jim's brother outright? Same way most other Americans bought their homes, by supporting themselves instead of begging for handouts? Sure looks to me, if that place were farmed year-round it could produce more income for Tanner to pay his own way through life.
I would hate to be anybody that buys the house and doesn't use it for farming. Just think of the evil eyes staring down at them. LMFAO!!! It would almost become a live haunting at that point.
Why not? You certainly don't have to donate, but there are many people who can look at this and see the value of giving a few dollars to people who are living with honor and respect for the land and each other. they didnt even introduce tanner in the last video , so how could you "understand perfectly "?
