Really great use cases, brother! I've been liking the form factor of this unit and the new version just came out so it might be the next piece in my kit. Cheers!
I Was going to order the new Zoom H1N and then canceled my order remembering that I have that same Mic as you. Then I see this video. It was a gift from my brother years ago and I hardly use it.
Is it possible to use that ZOOM instead of the microphone on the camera by connecting it with a cable? If we compare it with, for example, the RODE Stereo Video Mic, is the quality better for recording, for example, a live concert? Thx
@ 3.5 audio cable will allow this..3.5 mic in on Zoom, to 3.5 in on camera… no need to press record on zoom.. audio will be captured to the camera via Zoom recorder.. Sync audio from card in zoom, to cameras audio for best sound though. Generally camera audio has a louder noise floor..
They need to make a 32bit version that has the same mic array. Internal shock mounting / real wind muff would be nice. They abandoned their old modular mic capsules, so I've left Zoom behind.
@@NeedleMedia Tascam Portacapture X8 for "X/Y", and a Audio-Technica BP4029 for "M/S" micing. I bet a Zoom F2 with a Rode VideoMicro II would work for a simple 32bit mic. I used one into one of the Tentacle Track E's I already had, and it sounds super clean. The things you can do with M/S in post is just too powerful to give up though, especially for the purpose you're talking about.

I think you will be first in the queue for the recently announced Zoom H2essential. Loads of very neat features in a 32 bit float system.

32 bit can't sound that much better, can it?
32 bit float will make it unnecessary to set levels but will not necessarily improve the finished sound as such.

So true. What are you on now?
