The last photo on the booklet of the 2011 remaster has some 12 cows sat in an open field after grazing (my assumption) and it happens to be a colored one which I think is quite cool as I hadn't seen it on the other EMI reissues of this magnificent album post 1970. I loved the black & white photo of the cows at the back of the CD slipcase / booklet 💕👌🏼💕 I also thought that it's a 2020 remaster as this was originally released in Japan in the same year. The Blu-ray is definitely a MIST HAVE for every Pink Floyd fan out there 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Hi. It's Eliot. The one song that really stands out on this album is FAT OLD SUN. This was certainly the direction that Pink Floyd was taking as far as their future!
Nice set, I agree with your assessment. It’s an interesting album but not fully formed yet, more of a transitional album and as a result it’s not one I listen to much but gotta have it for the collection. Meddle is where they really start finding their footing. Cool albums, definitely some strange album covers pre-Dark side of the moon.
I'm probably the only one on earth that doesn't care for deluxe addition albums. To me they just add stuff that I don't need. Just give the original album and I'll be happy.
Lovely video! Thanks a million for sharing this. :P The lack of an English version of the pamphlet is definitely a let-down. But overall the packaging seems delicious, though I have to admit I hate this trend of everything going paper. Digipak would be lovely still, because of the proper plastic holder. I'm interested to know how you find the sound to be. A lot of people opine that Japanese silver pressings have a more tangible sound stage. I've recently bought a humongous deal of CDs from Japan because we're in each other's immediate vicinity, but these CDs are rather costly compared to the European and American releases.
Buyer beware this new reissue of atom heart mother by pink floyd the CD and Blu-ray the Blu-ray is only stereo not 5.1 surround sound or dolpy atoms the sound quality sounds like crap and the video of the 1971 concert is very poor like a VHS tape
This album probably is my second least favorite of Pink FLOYDs catalog. Ummagumma / hands down my personal least favorite. Brendon: great thorough summary 👍💯
Perhaps…but unlike this one which wraps around like a “belt” the typical ones only wrap the spine and are not like a “belt” so I’m not sure why the term “belt” was first used. Interesting though.
@@BrendonSnyder Umma may or may not have been nicked from Frank Herbert's novel DUNE. "Umma is a Chakobsa word meaning "prophet". I appreciate your enthusiasm about this release, but if you’re going to be releasing Blu-rays release of 5.1 version of the album not a concert. I think the whole package is really attractive and pretty cool but for my money, 1970. Devi/ation you get way more bang for the buck two CDs of music a DVD and Blu-ray with the quadraphonic version of atom, heart, mother. I know it’s not 5.1, but it sure as heck better than stereo cd version.
There's now way I'm buying this. Why is the blu-ray not even a complete anything? Why no third live concert disc? This is silly. Not having it. I've already bought like three reissues of Atom Heart Mother. The Early Years sets have better material on AHM.
Perhaps but that’s not the same as having it translated on the replica memorabilia. Just as easily I’m sure I could find a translation on line. It’s not so much the translation, it’s wanting a little more meat and potatoes as part of the packaging.
@@BrendonSnyder with your phone just open Google lens > translate and scan the pages while you browse them - you'll find out there's very very little information that you don't already know, or that is of any real interest. I did this a couple of times in the past with booklets like this one, thinking "gosh it's in Japanese, what am I missing!?". Turned out I was missing pretty much nothing, so I could relax, sit back and enjoy the pictures 😊😊😊
@@BrendonSnyderThey should have deleted the whole track, it's annoying, bad, and extraneous. An in-joke that dated immediately. Floyd were kind of short of material, even then. Meddle's good but the best things on it are "Echoes", "One of These Days," and "Fearless." "Seamus" is awful.
I'm with Floyd on this album. It's a big mess. Not a very enjoyable listen, except for "Fat Old Sun" and the "Funky Dung" part. Live versions of AHM I have on RIOS are much better than the studio version.
Just because you aren’t able to understand an album doesn’t mean that it’s bad or pretentious. But not believing someone can like something you don’t is just sad. There are more opinions than just yours. Get over it.
Album ranking, awesome. Look forward to it👍
I haven't put this album on in years! Going to give it a spin, thanks for the review.
Thank you for the nice video!
Looks great. Had the Live performance been on cd, I would have gotten it. Thank you for unboxing it.
Cheers.
Love that album especially "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast”! ‘If’, “Summer of ‘68” and “Fat old Sun” are beautiful and gentle songs. Very 70s.

That cover is beautiful !! Just look at the cow ! A Cow perfekt in its cowness^
It’s true, a cow just being a cow. How much more cowness could anyone want 😂

Have loved all the post dark side albums my whole life. Only recently listened to this, but it instantly clicked in a similar way. 9/10 imo
Talk about a missed opportunity atom heart could have been amazing in Atmos or 5.1 APB could actually have been listenable in surround
I would buy this if there would be a complete concerto on the blu ray and not just 16 (!) minutes !!
I believe Obi is a word not an abbreviation. Obi means belt in Japanese and is pronounced as you would think as one easy word - "Obee".

Hey Brendon, 'Ummagumma' is pronounced as in 'Uhmma Gumma - as in chewing gum, and not as OOmmaGooma as expressed at 1:36. Cheers.
👍

Your last sentence summed it all up very well, It will just sit. Meddle is the album worth focusing attention on.
Only if they remove that howling dog on the song Semus haha 😂 That part drives me nuts but I do like the rest of the album.

Pretentious and boring album. It's actually a very, very bad album. I don't believe anyone who says they like it, that's just bragging.
