- Upgrade your rc excavator for free. But be carefull this can damage the gears. It's better to add limit switch and diodes to prevent breaks.

Ok, what we have here is simple spring clutch, it may be just a tensioning of the spring value, either by dismantling the clutch and lengthening the spring by small amount adding to the amount of [ drag ]...
This way the clutch will still works as intended, but if done correctly maybe add just a few lbs to the lifting capability,
But you are on the right track and thanks for the great video, yes it's a superb model and getting this to function just that little bit better will make it a great model..cheers..
Thanks. The spring travel is around 1mm so it's pretty hard to do fine tuning. By the way i don't have the model anymore.
Good idea but i suggest u tu installed stopper switch for prevent from the damage gear... Look to the huina 580 full metal version.... Its use the stopper switch and u can copy an idea to make it
I performed this modification last night. Instead of using string, I cut a short piece of Nitro fuel tubing, cut a slit in it and wrapped it over the spring and then cut a thin piece of Duct Tape and wrapped it over and around the fuel tubing. The fuel tubing will provide some give and hopefully still provide some amount of slipper clutch gear protection.

Just adjusted the clutch gear on my EC160E, by the way of inserting a washer / shim into the spring clutch gear..{ gear end of spring }.
The thickness is 0.5mm..x 1.5mm dia hole..
I cut a slot in one side, the size of the bearing shaft, for insertion onto shaft, 1.5mm wide..
This makes the spring have more compression and reduces the ability for the clutch to slip, increasing the digging pressure,
After inserting this shim, close up with slot with small pliers...
There is definitely more power than before, but not enough to strip the gears..
Think 0.5 is the limit, but 1mm could...??
With a few modifications these machines can be great diggers! If you strip the gears with this mod, you can go to actuators. In the attached video the machine is digging virgin soil, & has been upgraded to actuators.

You could also use coffee grinds instead of real dirt it’s easier on the machines

I just bought the Double E excavator and would love to do this up grade but wish video had step by step instuctions.
Basically you need to remove every screws underneath the main body first. But I should advice you to learn the controls before locking the torque limiters.
I did the same as video but used wire bread ties instead of string. Excavator digged alot better until battery went dead.
Ended up stripping 2 teeth of 3rd double gear L to R 3rd gear in large boom arm. Haven't found a replacement gear yet.

Be carefull if you lock the torque limiter. Can result damages.

Is it easy to take apart the double e without damaging the plastic and maybe having gears flying all over the place?It’s just the one I’ve got, the bucket movement doesn’t work, I’m thinking it’s a loose wire somewhere but I don’t wanna break it while trying it to take it apart. Cheers
You can take it apart without damaging the plastic, there are screws to remove. If you go carefully the gears will stay in place.

Hi. I have this for my kid... i put on the transmitter en then i plug in the battery for the excavator. En when i switch the excavator on... it does nothing :(
Check transmitter batteries, recharge excavator battery and try turn on excavator first then radio, it should work.
@@Meuh974 tried it today. Only problem is that when i turn on the excavator it does nothing. No beep. No servo sound. Nothing. And when i put on the transmitter. The red light stays on at first but after 10 sec it starts blinking.. sad thing. Out of the box it immediately started... but on the second time it didn't work anymore :( thx for the tip. Think i will take it apart now. Maybe a wire or something is loose.
Check the battery pier connections mine broke off on the black wire same scenario as you

Use a rubber washer instead.
joe the coil spring is pretty hard, rubber washers may compress and they are more difficult to find than rope.
I just ordered one of this, I'll see if I can use a thin rubber washers that I've got, if it doesn't work I'll try something else.

It's still weak.. I bought this excavator n m not impressed with it.. y put a metal shovel on a weak plastic toy??🤔🤔 That's y I spent the money n got the all metal 580.. no problems
The metal bucket only have a commercial purpose in my opinion. So they can say "metal" in description.

I have a Huina 1580 V4, now that's an excavator..! But hey, the Double E is a 1\4 of the price and still a great model, detail wise, there are plenty of buckets out there, some printed some metal, but the reason the E is fitted with the plastic version is the slipping clutch, read my post, by doing some simple adjustments, without damaging the gears, this may add a great deal of operator satisfaction, I will make a video or post when I attempt this....
