What catamarans in the 37-42 foot range prioritize sailing, performance, and safety first and have ultra lightweight, minimalist interiors? I would be sailing solo 95% of the time so having two heads is not necessary, okay if there is a guest or two, but having two heads adds lots of extra weight, more complexity and takes up space and weight that could be used for more important items like extra battery capacity, a bit larger fresh water tank, larger fuel tanks, etc. The forward guest bunk could be a workshop/tool room as things will break and need to be repaired. If the table is telescopic and lowers to make another double berth this boat will still sleep 6 comfortably.
Hi Chris, there are degrees of performance and mostly always a trade-off with comfort and space as I am sure you know too well. On the performance plus side of things I'd look at the Dazcat 1295 and the Marsaudon 42 (ORC) - only available 2nd hand now. O-Yachts Class 4 as well. For the "sportier" cats, I'd check out the Seawind 1170, Nautitech 40 and Excess 11 (in 2025 they are launching a 13m which they have targeted a higher than average SA/D). I would also check out the C-Cat 37 designed by Lombard, the same guy who designed the 40 Open. Then you get into the heavier cruising boats like Lagoon, FP, Bali which sail well when the breeze is up on a reach. You might need to stick the engine on earlier when the wind slackens. Boats at the top have bigger SA/D ratios in general, there is more safety margin in the "sportier" cats, hope that helps
I've seen videos of this thing sailing and it was a hobby horsin mess. The thing was bouncing around in a sea state that should have been champagne sailing. This makes me think the rig/hulls are too high for the length of water line. I wish the Mahe 36 evolution would get remade/modernized. That was the best pocket cat ever. 10 years after they were made, they are still going for close to what they sold for originally. That tells you something.
I have to put my hands up and and admit that I haven't been on one in waves, but yes the boom is higher with the raised helm position. Interesting that Bali went for aft helms on their Catsmart and they are usually the flybridge kings
Like for short ttx and price range!👍

@@katamaranscom Thank you for the information
The Seawinds are light and fast with a minimalist interior. I’d love to do what you’re talking about and am also looking at the 37-40 footers.
i dont know about the build quality of the brand but that is a damn good price tag for a cat... its almost cheap 🤣😂
Almost! 😅
Why don’t you change the title to “Least Expensive 37 footer”.
good idea
In the promo it says LOA:10.9m. Beam: 59.4 m. I think they mean 5.94 m. Need to proof read the Specs before putting out a video.
Good spot, that one slipped through. That would be a tricky one to dock, I will add a note in the description

I remember looking at a Mahe back in the day and almost signing on the dotted line, the C-Cat 37 is worth a look
