Pretty standard today, they are all using this type of design on their vehicles and Hyundai is following suit. IMO they are also late to the game as compact sedans have fallen out of favor years ago, as crossovers and hatchbacks just offer much more useful trunks.

    • @jameshughes6049

@@BoopSnoot Standard?? No that's not standard, it's well above standard & it's not a compact sedan. It's a large sedan. Know ur facts before you put something down. Btw....the trunk in the Sonata is quite large.

My car has a tuning knob...I NEVER use it. I listen to Spotify rather than the radio. When I used to listen to the radio/Sirius I used the presets. When I want to skip or go back on Spotify, I used the steering wheel controls. Who is using the tuning knob? One thing I think car reviewers forget that people who actual buy and drive these cars will rarely be going into all the settings menus...most features are set it and forget it.

    • @vitreoushumor

Bingo. Set your stations and switch between your favorite 4-5. No need to tune. Seek works better anyways in a new area

    • @the80386
      @the80386 4 ปีที่แล้ว

'tuning' knobs in modern cars are not analogue pots but rather rotary encoders which are dynamically assigned to control various UX elements. It makes scrolling very easy, just to name one example. That's why it's good to have one even if you don't necessarily tune the radio.

Excellent review, I'm really happy the N-Line story will be fully revealed soon (hearing 12/9 at 12am EST ) . I also want to hear the Plug-in Hybrid story , seems like that also will be a great option and can get away from the Pano sunroof and put solar panels on the top instead. I almost never use my sun/moon roof in any car. I would prefer the extra rigidity , less to break aspect and headroom not to mention the solar panels are just cool and another first.
I'm glad I think I can be very happy with the 1.6T Limited due to the low rpm torque trigger and the transmission seems sweet, The Hybrid offers excellent MPG/range and the electric makes it move too similar to the limited maybe even better in some situations. The Theta III 2.5T seems lovely hard to argue with 290/310 , I would want to drive it and the Hybrid and the Limited before I make a decision. This will likely be the car I replace my current 3.3 V6 Sonata with.

A recent example: The Mazda 3 in our episodes has satin finish buttons on the dash for HVAC controls. The production cars do not.

Just traded my 2019 Kona Ironman (yes I actually bought a Kona Ironman)
for a new 2020 Sonata Limited. My other car is a 2020 Genesis G90 5.0
HTRAC and this Sonata is closer to the $80,000 G90 than you might think.
Love them both. Of course I loved the Kona Ironman UNTIL the novelty
wore off and keeping the matte gray paint clean became a real pain.
Anyway am very happy with the Sonata Limited and I would highly
recommend it. Mine is exactly the same model as is shown in the video except different color exterior - Stormy
    Seas (Blue) and Camel Leather.

Here's an example: th-cam.com/video/SXK3I9PPuH4/w-d-xo.html . . . But the episodes that continually do well for us are BMW, Mercedes (AMG in particular) and yes, Porsche. Would love to feature more EVs or unique stuff like this (th-cam.com/video/6AgjNsCYKRk/w-d-xo.html) that is cheap and cheerful but you guys just don't watch it or share it enough to make it financially feasible. Such push buttons and equivalent dials are often justified as "saving space" but the "space" saved is minimal or non-existent and can be utilized only if one could somehow magically suspend objects in the air above the controls.

Hyundai is fine if you plan on keeping for 1 to 3 years, but if your in for the long haul it will be falling a part by 36k, I bought a new 2013 Hyundai Azera Limited no major issues at first but I did have alot of issues with wheels clear coat flaking off 4 new sets of wheels in first 60k, tail lights filled with water 2 times, fog lights constantly burning out, ac vents and speedometer screen cracking from heat in summer, trim on steering wheel and dash clear coat falling off just to name a few things and by the time I hit 43k the cam phasers failed after 2 times repairing and 4 months later they put in a brand new engine ended up costing Hyundai over $12k after 2 repairs and new engine. I stuck it out for a while no issues but later had about 18k on new engine exhaust cam phaser failed I ended up trading it off. Its sad to buy a car for $37k and not even make it 4 years without major issues only worth $10k when I dumped it. I should have bought a new Camry for $27k or a Lexus ES350 for 38k drove it for 10 years and not have had a single issue. Lesson learned.

Love how the N edition is in camouflage, which is totally unnecessary and clearly designed to actually make people look at it and think it must be special. Without it, it would just look like any other Sonata and effectively be invisible, which of course would be the best camouflage. Great exercise in marketing the crap out of a "top secret" car. They even "accidentally" left its new badges on the grill if you still couldn't see what the fuss was about with a Sonata.

"Hyundai and Kia are recalling nearly 1.2 million more cars in the United States for engine failures after customers reported additional failures since the original 2015 recall, according to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)." 2017

    ...
In addition to the recall, each automaker says it will do a “product improvement campaign” covering a total of 3.7 million vehicles to install software that will alert drivers of possible engine failures and send the cars into a reduced-speed “limp” mode if problems are detected." Jan, 2019

People bashed them, but here they are being the industry standard while American manufacturers are left to award themselves JD Power and associated awards through their selective surveying. Korean cars have passed American cars and are just about Equal to Japanese ones. My family owns 3 Hyundai motor group cars and have had 1 issue (which is really good for the industry standard of reliability if you look up the statistics of how only one brand of manufacturer has 1 issue per new car and it just gets worse as you go down the list). The hybrid battery on the 2016 sonata had a failsafe issue and Hyundai replaced the battery for free. No worries, we were taken care of thanks to their commitment to quality.
