    • @BigSmoke-bu6ib

I disagree. He tries too hard in the second half of the song by singing the higher harmony parts, leaving the other guitarist to just sing the lead vocal harmony from the record but in a softer tone. Additionally, the other guitarist is also playing a tighter rhythm version of everything the singer is playing to make him sound good. Basically the singer is not being genuine, he's actually being a bit of a controlling narcissist here.

True, but rock music used to be much more popular than it is today. At least, the more raw side of rock. Nowadays, "rock" that the younger generation is into has little to do with dynamics in song structure, less to do with deep lyrical content, less experimentation in the studio, less genuine & authentic songwriting. It's a bunch of guys that "look good" singing about how their parents hate them and school sucks. granted, that always was too. But 90's and past was less whining and more serious.

not too mention, while there was pop of course, there were a lot more of, i guess "power pop" type bands. Yes, madonna, cher, etc had quite a bit of airplay but it was pretty balanced out by the same crowd of moms and kids listening to matchbox 20, gin blossoms, goo goo dolls, etc. Those bands created their own music. Even pop used to be somewhat original and tolerable. Nowadays, it's all auto tune and pre-written songs by record producers & getting worse. That's bullshit if you ask me.
