There has been nobody to touch Ronnie, only David Jason comes close and of course Eric Moreconbe- comedy today is garbage compared to the 70’s & 80’s all the best comedies seemed to be in this era. Steptoe & Son another absolute classic, we were indeed blessed to have lived in these funny funny times
Sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the password. I would love any help you can give me.
He was a genius actor. Not just comedic. He was capable of brilliant dramatic roles. A pity he only did comedy. We lost a great actor. See his Shakespeare sketch playing Edward 6th on TH-cam. Brilliant.
One heartbreak which upset him greatly and led to his death was his son’s criminal behaviour but this is never mentioned. The narration about the authorship of Porridge is incorrect. Barker didn’t write it but La Frenais and Clement.
Ronnie didn't write any of porridge! 'much of which he wrote himself is not true. Paul Davis should get his facts tight! Ronnie said himself, dick and Ian's writing was so good it didn't need anything added to it. Ronnie was a genius, but even he didn't write porridge- the best thing he ever did.
@@danw1374 No he didn't. It was written by Dick Clement and Iain La Frenais. Nobody else. Occasionally Ronnie would chip in the odd line here and there in rehearsals.
Shoddy reporting. Ronnie Barker did not write Porridge, he always gave full credit to Dick Clement and Ian Le Frenais for creating and writing the show. I'm amazed by this glaring error, very poor research.
Mr Barker didn't even have to exert comedy, it just naturally oozed but today what do we have, idiots like Richard Ayoade who is just plain NOT FUNNY, how far has comedy fallen
Stuffy man with outdated stuffy sketches, even up to the time of his death, ran out of ideas. I never liked Portage or Open All Hours due to constant bragging with that Lemmon Jayston.
This man had more talent in his little finger than the majority of today's so called comedian s have in their whole bodies...
Spot on mate
More of a comedy actor than comedian but agreed.
I totally agree with you

He was indeed a comedic genius and should be recognized as such. Thank you Mr. Ronnie Barker for all of the laughs for so many years. 😎

A total comedy genius with millisecond perfect timing, a true one off and the very, very best. RIP Ronnie.
