    Thanks for making this video. Although you were replacing the shutter, I was able to get a look at a piece that I wasn't sure if was cross-compatible. I need to replace the power PCB in the camera and this helped me determine that I could replace a part from a 1d mark ii.

    Thank you so much for this detailed instruction! I managed to replace the shutter charger base on it. Your skill is impressive too - no single unneeded screw touched. Would be better if it was better filmed however it did cover all the points that I encountered during my repair work (If watched x0.25 speed and very carefully).

      I’m really glad you have made it. It is one of my very first videos and the quality is quite poor, now I have better cameras, I will put more good contents soon.

    Thanks for the video. I wanted to see if I dared to disassemble it, but I'm not going to do it... ufff too many connections and screws.
    The problem with my camera is that horizontal lines appear in the photo.
    If you can give me some advice I would appreciate it.

    • @CameraRestore

      Hey, it is a common problem with this camera, might be image sensor damage or oxidation. I must say, not an easy job for this kid of issue. Where are you based?

    • @Floren69
      @Floren69 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CameraRestore thanks for your answer. If the fault is in the sensor, the repair will be very expensive. The photos come out with some horizontal lines, as if they were interference, and more visible at high iso. If you want I can send you some photos. Thank you so much.

    hey
    i got a 1ds ii that viewfinder display is gone, won't focus, err 01 when press shutter, without lens err 99. sensor cleaning mode also err 99. the mirror/mirror motor doesn't move at all during all these.
    i took it apart this weekend just before taking the mirror box out, which i haven't figure out. I looked at circuit board and it seems good. little fuses are all intact. maybe it's the mirror motor assembly? i even took apart the contact pin after getting that module out and checked all and it's fine. camera can play back previous taken picture and top LCD works fine and can detect lens aperture before pressing shutter button. previous owner said the error happened during a lens change and viewfinder went dead and gives err 01/99. hopefully to hear from you. i'll spend a little more time diagnose it before selling separate parts hehe.

    Hi I’ve watch you video, thank you for sharing it.
    I’ve got a focus problem on my 1dsii
    It won’t focus. It just hunts. Then if it does lock focus it is only on the lower focus point.
    Really strange. At first taking the battery out and restarting it would sort it but now Im limited to manual focus only.
    Do you have any ideas?
    Thank you

      That’s a strange one... Might be a connector oxidation... It a common issue.

    Hi there, my 1d mark ii N is not throwing up an error code but rather just simply does not raise the shutter when you shoot and records a black image. Does this shutter require replacing or is something else the issue? Thank you kindly in advance for any response, Rod

    • @CameraRestore
      @CameraRestore  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, most likely is the shutter, also that’s why it gives you the error message.

    Didn't you have any problem with the mirror? My mirror folded up while removing the mirror house. I see you left the body cap on, did you ever check this?

    • @CameraRestore
      @CameraRestore  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jpsholland, you're lucky, I'm working on one at the moment. Is quite difficult to explain but check the pictures in the link below. On the pic #1 push that black lever marked with the circle, it will get in position as in picture #2, the mirror will get back in position. Good luck.

    May I ask you when the shutter fails, when you try to shoot, does it make a strange sound?

    • @CameraRestore
      @CameraRestore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey, not necessarily but might do. In order to understand better if it is about the shutter or mirror, set up "mirror lockup" on your camera and take a shoot.
      to turn on this setting, have a look here: support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART158597
      with this setting, the camera will first lift and lock the mirror, by doing a second shoot, the shutter will open and expose.
      Make a shoot in manual mode with a low speed and see what comes up.

      @@CameraRestore thanks for this valuable comment. I must say that this is not possible because the camera just stays stuck with err99 showing in the upper LCD and does not allow you to go to the menus. Is there a way to lock up the mirror without having access to the menus?
      If not, why can't I do this? (if there is a reason). Maybe it is not possible.
      Essentially when I turn on the camera I hear the sound, it is like a cat screaming when scared with a mixture of feisty thundarstorm or something like that lol. It happens when I turn on the camera and also every time I try to press the shutter button.
      I must say also that the first time I tried to lift the mirror and noticed the shutter blades were dodgy. On the next day tried to do it again to take some pictures and the mirror was like locked. I can't lift it anymore.
      Read somewhere that it could be a capacitor but no sure why I capacitor would make the camera do this. If the blades/shutter looked dodgy it might be stopping something happening and hence the noise. Don't know.
      Any further comments and suggestions are welcome. I am tempted to open the camera.

    And one wonders why it cost so much to replace a $50.00 shutter.
    IF Canon made them right the first time you wouldn't need to get it repaired..
    Err-99 on my Canon EOS-1DS Mark II, wound up is a bad shutter.

    • @CameraRestore
      @CameraRestore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      well, I believe that the camera made quite lots of shoots before failing... There are few things that might reduce the lifespan of a shutter but dust definitely is the most common.
