Wow..mam...thanks a lot for the video...i learnt so many things here..n all your videos...i wish i could work under you and learn things ...under ur guidance some day...:)
Hi again, thanks to you for I was able to create plaid pattern for my new job following your video. However, I ran into a couple of questions: 1. I need to send the repeat to the mill. After defining pattern and indexing, can I add color chips and text to the same file and send it to the mill? 2. My repeat size is 8.16" x 8.16". Is it an Ok repeat size? I tried to reduce the image to 8" x 8" but it didn't look right. 3. I found out that the repeat size of the weave file has to be in the same ratio with that of the plaid pattern, otherwise the weave won't be seamless. Am I right?
Hi TJ, Thank you for keeping watching:) 1. Yes, you can add color chips and text to the indexed file in any time. 2. When you do plaids, the repeat size it's not so important, factory can create any repeat, because they don't have to engrave pattern on the roller. However, you can confirm with the factory if your repeat is too large or too small, it could be difficult for execution, I think 8 inches is fine for any process. You also don't have to worry about weave repeat, because the factory are adjusting weave in the loom anyway, it dependence on thread thickness and texture, and some technical features, you can't catch exact texture in the screen or paper, so make sure your pattern repeat is correct, and you weave is basically for the visual effect
Great! Do you call it Yarn Dyed plaid? Actually the one I'm working on is a print pattern, so the weave repeat needs to be dividable by the pattern. I learned that the screen size is either 25" or 36". If my repeat size is 8"x8", how is it divided by the screen size? And is the screen size referred to roller length?
Hi TJ, Yes, the lesson you watched is about Yarn Dyed plaid. But the technique is totally different than roller print and I think it doesn't have to depend on screen size. Maybe my explanation wasn't detailed enough, because I concentrate on computer art interpretation, not on physical fabric execution, but you always can find some online videos which can help you to understand the real process. Something like this: th-cam.com/video/cXo4RQT268k/w-d-xo.html
Now I understand your lesson is about Y/D plaid and screen size doesn't matter. What about a plaid print like the one I'm working on? My question was for the print. How is a print with 8"x8" divided by the screen size 25"? Sorry for all these questions.
Hi TJ, if it's printed plaid, you have to follow the direction for prints layout, so your artwork needs to fit screen size which is depend on your vendor's technique. if your vendor's requirement is 25" your print needs to fit 25" no matter what. So yes, you idea to enlarge print to 8.16" x 8.16" is the best solution
Great video. I learnt many things.Waooo
