Gracias a esta bellas creaciones musicales, sobrevivo en paz, Tengo 73 años, me fui a la edad de 13 años a EEUU, fui a la guerra de Vietnam, a la edad de 22 años, estuve en la Brigada 173 aerotransportada Air Borne, de la 9 División Tx, después de un año de combatir y vivir horrores y errores, fui prisionero de guerra durante 3 años y medio, durante ese tiempo de prisionero nunca vi la luz del sol, siempre en un túnel, fuimos 9 prisioneros, 3 Marines, 4 Rangers y 2 infantería, salimos vivos de ahí sólo 4, pesábamos alrededor de 45 kg , y nuestra piel se sangraba de tanta humedad, nos rescataron al final de la guerra, una misión de la ONU, unas religiosas, nos cuidaron con tanto amor y cuidados, tres años tardamos en recuperarnos, tanto en la piel como en el cuerpo, regrese a mi amado México y mi estado de Hidalgo, de donde nunca debería haber salido, ya mis fantasmas, mis miedos se han ido apagando poco a poco , a veces siento odio contra el Ejército y a veces lo extraño, pues eran mis hermanos, gracias a la música, gozo mucho mi soledad, nunca me case ni tuve hijos, mi novia que tuve en mi juventud se caso en USA , pues sabia que estaba desaparecido en batalla, y le dijeron , que tal vez nunca me volvería a ver, casi no me gusta dormir, sigo con pesadillas, gracias a la música y el canto , me siento bien. Same here, for years I had "the chorus part" of the song in the background of my mind, but I couldn't for the life of me remember the name of the song as it was a very faint memory and in Spanish. So I decided to google "what was the most popular Spanish song the early 70's"; "Eres Tu" popped up first in the Google search engine. This song brought me back to memories of my childhood getting on and off the yellow school bus in Sunny Sarasota, Fla, because you see, the bus driver would have the radio on during our trip to school and back home. That song among others would be playing. That song tugged at my heart without me knowing as it was such a beautiful song and I didn't know Spanish. The closest version to the meaning in spanish translated into english. I mean: In english you say "...you are..." But you also can say "...it is you..." In spanish you can say "...tú eres..." But you can also say "...eres tú..." BUT, in spanish you can say "...se ha descubierto una nueva especie..." or "...una nueva especie se ha descubierto..." But in english you can only say "...a new species has been discovered..." You can´t say "...has been discovered a new species..." That´s what happens with most songs in spanish, and poems, etc. But, again, thank you for your words.
In the mid-70's when I was in my teen-age years, this song was broadcast over the radio in the United States and it was a big hit! I was just learning my Spanish as a second language and was so happy that I could understand some of the lyrics to this song at that time! This is a great song and this brings back memories of when I was taking Spanish and learned this song, but not so good of a memory that the teacher who was my teacher when I took Spanish had passed away and I was actually just having a conversation with her the week before it happened.

My first memory from Eurovision contest. I was 8 when it was held that year. It was a hugely popular event in Spain those days. "Eres tu" should definitely have won. Amaya's voice and rendition were amazing.

One of the finest songs I've ever heard in Music History. I Live in Waco Texas, and in the 80's they used to filter a station from Chicago down into 1230 A.M.. I heard this song back then, and I've never forgotten it.

esta cancion en latinoamerica fue realmente un exito un verdadero fenómeno musical las personas que tenemos una edadsita ya avanzada la recordamos con mucho cariño y nostalgia, este grupo es o era único en su género simplemente maravilloso.
En esa época había una especie de túnel mágico entre América y España, de manera que lo mejor de la canción en español circulaba en ambos sentidos. Mi infancia de niño español son recuerdos de "Eres tú", pero también de "una piedra en el camino", de "Cristo ya nació...", o incluso de "alma llanera", aunque sea un poco más antigua.
A decir verdad ahora también nos llegan canciones de América en algo parecido al español, pero me parecen abominables.

Same here, for years I had "the chorus part" of the song in the background of my mind, but I couldn't for the life of me remember the name of the song as it was a very faint memory and in Spanish. So I decided to google "what was the most popular Spanish song the early 70's"; "Eres Tu" popped up first in the Google search engine. This song brought me back to memories of my childhood getting on and off the yellow school bus in Sunny Sarasota, Fla, because you see, the bus driver would have the radio on during our trip to school and back home. That song among others would be playing. That song tugged at my heart without me knowing as it was such a beautiful song and I didn't know Spanish. After all these years, I finally reunite with a lost memory that was just beneath the surface.

The closest version to the meaning in spanish translated into english. I mean: In english you say "...you are..." But you also can say "...it is you..." In spanish you can say "...tú eres..." But you can also say "...eres tú..."
BUT, in spanish you can say "...se ha descubierto una nueva especie..." or "...una nueva especie se ha descubierto..." But in english you can only say "...a new species has been discovered..." You can´t say "...has been discovered a new species..."
That´s what happens with most songs in spanish, and poems, etc.

In the mid-70's when I was in my teen-age years, this song was broadcast over the radio in the United States and it was a big hit! I was just learning my Spanish as a second language and was so happy that I could understand some of the lyrics to this song at that time! My parents liked it too and they were happy because I was learning the language! A beautiful song, and a timeless classic then and now - and yes, now I understand it completely! ;-)

I had Mexican friends and it wasn’t until I started learning Spanish just over a month ago that the words come back now with their meanings.
