Squid Beach Fishing - Cat Bay, Phillip Island

Squid Beach - Episode 2 (Phillip Island Series)
Cat Bay, Phillip Island Victoria. Cat Bay is located on the west coast of Phillip Island near the intersection of Ventnor Road and St Helens Road on the way to the Nobbies. There is a long flight of stairs which lead down to the beach.
There is a large reef on the left hand side of Cat Bay, which is submerged at high tide. This is not a patrolled beach, so you need to be very cautious when fishing here. I suggest you fish the beach commencing on the last 4 hours of a rising tide. This way you will get an appreciation of where the reef and scattered rocks are, before they are ultimately covered by the water. Fish to the right of the reef.
Ideal time for fishing here is late September through to the end of January. At other times of the year you may still catch calamari, however they will be around in fewer numbers.

Hi Dom, thanks for watching! Was unsuccessful in the morning drifting fresh squid and pipis. I usually get a decent flathead or trevally using that method. When I reverted to fishing for Calamari in the afternoon, I was using a 3.5 Yamashita jig which was white with an orange stripe on the underbelly of the jig.
