I just bought my first sewing machine and I cannot express how excited I am to ruin a sheet and try to make this dress Update: I may have overestimated my abilities
I’ve noticed an increase in how many young people are sewing over the past thirty years, and I think it’s great! You make it look easy as you sew on that silky fabric! I’m actually very excited to see the finished product because I know it’s going to be beautiful!
I saw the dress on Pinterest a while ago and was trying to find a good tutorial for it, so thank you! I think I am going to adjust the sleeves to be a bit longer for the one I make.
@@PaperStxrs at 15:00 do we sew the rectangle into a continuous loop or just a long strip or both their own smaller loops? I am confused with the video and the pattern instructions
I MADE THE DRESS!! It was so simple to make with her guidelines, usually I always find the fabric tooo tight or loose but luckily her measurements matches mine and it’s all just perfect!!! . I love the fact that all the patterns are so adjustable. Totally recommend making this!! Love your video XX 🍓💌
hiiii i just bought the pattern, but i'm wondering if the seem allowances are already included or if i need to add them... could you please tell me if you remember ? thxxxx
I really wish I understood what you are saying half the time whilst making the dress cause I want to try make it for my friend but I legit don't know anything you just said like what's a basting stitch, darts???, I don't even k n o w
Basting stitches are long running stitches (just going in and out of the fabric). Because the stitches are so long if you pull on the threads it will gather or pull the material together. You also use it to hold fabric pieces together before you sew on the machine so the pieces don’t shift. A dart adds shape to the fabric. So for example if you put one at the bust line, you’ll see a stitch that forms a triangle, with the triangle point ending at the bust. A visual is probably better. They’re are so many sewing tutorials out there for beginners. I started with a simple circle skirt!
@@IJUSTNEEDASTUPIDUSERNAME ooo thank you so much for explaining! I'll try find some beginners videos since I really want to make some dresses during the summer holidays
Same, I actually wanted to learn sewing years ago but Idk where to start. My mom told me to try the sewing machine but it's those old manual one that I have no idea why but I can only spin it backwards.
Oh my goodness this is the dress I had when there was a dance in 1959 advancing to 7th grade. You did such a beautiful job thank you for showing this project. It took me back to such pleasant memories. We used coffee and tea all the time in addition with vegetables to die our fabric and fabric shoes to match the dresses. Perfect length and the fit is right on. Thank you again
I'm so glad this turned up on my recommended, the dress looks AMAZING. I have to agree with you ab the cut of the dress, the way you kind of changed the waistline makes it so much more flattering. ❤️
Making this dress will update throughout process Update many months later: I got most of the pieces cut out three months ago then got caught up with life and forgot about it BUT my birthday tea party is this weekend and I have nothing to wear so it’s time to buckle up and finish this dress will update again soon
The fact that she turned the sewing tutorial into a vlog make this more exiting and fun and gives you more motivation to do it ! thank you!! (I'm exciting to ruin the dress because I have my sewing machine only since about 1 month!! yay!!)
So dreamy!! 🤩✨It's funny you posted this now, I've been planning on making a pink version of this dress for myself! I made the bodice and then abandoned it ages ago, but after seeing yours I might just have to dig it out of my stash.
OMG YOU HELPED ME OUT WITH THE SLEEVES!!!! So like I was trying to make a dress similar to this but I just couldn’t get the sleeves right !THANK YOUU AND YOUR DRESS IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!!
I had some fabric laying around for *years* and I think I'll recreate this out of it! It won't be white but dark red, but I think it could still look very cool😍🤞🏻 Thank you for the inspiration!
Usually, sewing videos with a lot of talking make me uncomfortable, but u're always so excited that I get excited too and I like to sew while listening/watching your videos for company
Flashback to 1990s: My daughters' English/History assignment for Elementary school. Soaking paper in cookie sheet pans filled with tea or coffee overnight. Then burning all the edges with birthday candles. The latter done outside as neighbors walked by with their dogs in the morning. My kids were offered helpful advice on how to use India ink and goose quill pens. 🍄🍄 Matcha tea for green and onion skins for yellow were cool alternative colors. Congratulations on your family support 💓 Take care and be safe 😷
This is so so so good!! I’ve been dying to make a dress like Selkie’s ever since I found them online too. You deserve so many more subscribers!! This tutorial was literally so clear and helpful :)
i love all your projects so much ahhh so cute!!! you inspire me so so much and motivate me to work on projects of my own! i hope you continue to share your wonderful work with the world and i can't wait to see more from you! :)
Love this! I thought that the bodice of the original dress was a little too childish for me, since I already look younger than my age, so this is a much better option.
I’m so excited seeing new videos from you because I always love them! Love this dress so much and I can’t wait to hopefully sew one for myself some day too!😊
Try adding loads if salt into your dye mix. Salt helps the pigment adhere to the fabric better. I've always had much better results with natural dying when using salt. Fresh nettles make a great green pigment too.
ahhh omg this looks amazing, so glad that someone made a video on the longer version! quick question, for the inner organza + satin skirts, are they half or full circle skirts?
I really enjoy the fact that you adapted the dress to be more flattering, because i agree that the original is unflattering. And the way you pulled it off was perfect!
You used two of the most *difficult * fabrics ever, and it turned out absolutely breathtaking! #Goals. 🤩♥️ Edit: That strawberry sweater is amazing. Where did you get it (if you don't mind sharing 😁)?
Being able to make your own dresses its the ultimate flex
Haha thank you!😂✨
Exactly.
Lol and other clothes too like shirts and shoes! XD no hate btw
It really is, but I can’t so I buy my grandma the fabrics and in return I crochet big blankets for her 😁

Just finish it. My first dress wouldn't zip and I couldn't take it out
That’s amazing! I would love to see it! I’m thinking of making a dress but I’m not too sure...
Maybe try something easier, but sure go for it
Welcome to the world of sewing...YOU'LL NEVER HAVE MONEY

I tried stitching a dress by hand since I don’t have a machine either and damn, I just couldn’t do it. Maybe also because I have no skills🥲
I look up to you 💪
