I think this and this japanese glitch video has been the first time this game surprised me in a while. I had no idea that the game was orignally going to bring back Treasure Ships, yet another element from 3.
The first one seems reminiscent of the overworld pipe cannon in NSMBU And if I had to guess "WM_Note" might've been some sort of visual effect while not necessarily being the unused note model, hard to tell though since we don't know the conditions that would have spawned the treasure ship in the first place
1:59 It’s funny when developers implement a feature into a game, then just say “screw it” and toss it in the bin even though it’s almost fully functional. Wonder why that happens.
There is evidence that a couple subworlds other than the World 3 one originally existed but were scrapped. It's highly likely the pipe functionality was for those, and either time constraints or design decisions caused the extra subworlds to be removed (thus the pipe events were rendered unused).
This type of thing seem to happen all the time in games developpment. Usually it became unused because it's some secondary function that finally don't find an use. It's like when you have "unused levels". You implement things early in the developpment, but a game change a lot between the start and it release.
this makes me happy because you and roadrunner are doing a lot of research of the vanilla worldmap system, and maybe, one day, they will be easy to mod
@@Wiimeiser Yes, but NSMBW has that too. This is a brand new actor that was created specifically for NSMBW, and was not used - it has no relation to NSMB DS leftovers or anything.
“Hey thanks for the lift guys. See you next week for the rescue. Same time, same place?”
😭😭😭
This game still gives us some surprises here and there

There are japanese videos doing glitches that hasn't found yet, mostly with multiplayer mode...
I feel like the Treasure Ships were meant to be like the ones in Super Mario Bros. 3.

Oversights are common, it's possible that they just straight up forgot about it.

Probably world 6 would've used it for a underground area

0:56 it looks like the public bus stop
The pipes seem to have returned in NSMB2, but more like the NSMB variants where they just teleport you to a different section.
Those are in NSMBW, too.
@@Skawo wait they are? I don’t remember any worlds having them
@@lemonadesnake Worlds 2 and 6 both have them.
0:12 Mario is Superman lol
That thumbnail is a work of art. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
0:42 I actually like this.
0:57 And this.
Carpooling in an nutshell.
1:30 I think it’s supposed to be like one of those coin ships from super mario bros 3
"I have to go now. My planet-a needs me."
Can't wait for NSMBW mods to use the vanilla map engine
1:34 my guess is that maybe you’d jump on a music note block to jump into the treasure ship and everything just looks off model and wrong
Wowie! That’s pretty cool (the cannon cutscene)
Was the pipe code for sub maps used at all in newer, or is the new map code so different it was done from scratch?
It was not.
This is what I subscribe for ✊
Yes finally another unused
i didnt see that coming
Amazing
Botsford Summit
Question why isn’t bowser jr in newer smbw?
o e h
0:10 and 1:55 So NSMBU is Just a Direct Copy of NSMBW, Just with more stuff
I felt some of these actors been leftovers from NSMB, due been slightly recycled from this game...🤔
...but NSMB has none of these?
The pipe one is, kind of
@@Toadallythebest How so
@@Skawo World 2 and 5(?) had pipes in NSMBDS IIRC. Though they just sent you between two points on the same map.
