Clear and detailed. Great comparisons too. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this video, thank you 👍 Now I seriously think I need the leather one with the blue art gilt which I've been resisting for months now!!

Thank you for a very good review. It seems that Thomas Nelson's NKJV offerings just get better and better. Personally, I would have preferred blue under silver art gilt for the leather versions, but oh well. And I'm glad they are available with thumb indexing. I have a Cambridge Concord KJV with thumb indexing which is very handy when you wish to find a certain book quickly.

Yes! Blue under art gilding would have been the X factor but still they are amazing

Nicely done. I'm going over to your affiliated links now to compare prices. This one covers almost every box for me too! :)

Those Bibles look awesome and the blue guilding on the page edges is fabulous. I love that the leathersoft has vinyl liner rather than paper, I think this is where publishers should be going. I only wished that it wasn't red letter and that the translation notes were separated from the references. Other than that, marvelous. When I first saw it being announced, it was announced as a black letter text and I was over the moon, salivating for it to be released and the boom, I dropped flat because it was actually red letter, why oh why? Anyways, this will satisfy quite a few people, so good for them. Great review. Thanks for sharing.

Those thumb index things, are they worth having? Do you think they kinda mar a perfectly flawless & smooth gilt-edge?
My favorite Thomas Nelsons are the NKJV Large-Print (10.5pt) Wide Margin Reference Bible and the NKJV Giant-Print (13.5pt) Center-Column Reference Bible which must be the big brother of the one you reviewed here. All *excellent* quality.
In a different league is their KJV Study Bible Full-Color Edition (10pt) -- replete w color images, commentaries, articles etc; nice on the eyes, make for engaging reading especially for Bible learners like me.

I think they can be useful, but I'd like to see fewer books per tab to make them more useful. As far as marring the edges, I think it really depends on a person's preference between their functionality and the cleaner edges.

Thumb indexing by the Bible manufacturer is much better than the self adhesive index tabs that you can buy at your local Christian book store. I have found that those types of self adhesive tabs put undue stress on Bible paper and often result in small rips and tears. Just my humble opinion.

does the genuine leather edition use the same kind of paper as the premium edition?

Hi! They're all 36gsm. I'd need to compare them again to see if there are any differences. It will take a few days before I can get to them. You can see more in the written reviews- biblebuyingguide.com/gray-nkjv-classic-verse-by-verse-center-column-reference-bible/#Construction%20and%20Materials

Why is any Bible paste down. All should be edge.

paste down construction can be mass produced easier and is less expensive for the consumer. edge lining is not necessarily going to last that much longer, it just moves the weak point over a page or two. not all Bibles lend themselves to a floppy cover either.
