I remember in the ‘80s, the Armor Shop was the only set that came with a black sword. Every other sword was grey except that one. A kid on my street stole one from another kid, it nearly started a war. I remember coloring grey ones with permanent marker. It worked…for a day or two.
I didn't realise there were so many castle factions in Lego.

It’s too bad that Lego does t really do a proper castle toy line anymore. You get the odd creator set or something similar in another series, but as far as an actual new Castle, Kingdoms, or whatever other name they decide to go with there’s just kinda been nothing for a while. Personally it was always my favorite theme as a kid, so it’s always kinda been sad to see nothing new come from it.
Edit: Nothing outside like the big expensive throwback sets like the 90th anniversary castle. It’s a fantastic set, don’t get me wrong, but just as a general theme beyond stuff like that.

As much as I love the LOTR line, I'm pretty sure that's the reason Castle ended. Lego doesn't want their homebrew IPs competing with the licensed ones. Indiana Jones and Jurassic World killed off the Johnny Thunder Adventures line, Star Wars killed Space, etc.
@@cloudcleaver23 Yeah. Like I loved the LOTR and hobbit sets, especially the Helms Deep and Bilbo house ones, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they thought it was either redundant or that those would bring in more sales thanks to the name attached.
Well Lego basically treats Harry Potter as their ongoing "castle theme".
The same reason there isn't a dedicated Lego space theme, that niche is already taken up by Star Wars.
@@cloudcleaver23 More like Nexo Knights and Ninjago killed off the Castle theme, because in 2013-2014 there was still a new Castle theme Lion knights and Dragon knights right after Lord of the rings sets retired, and paralel with the Hobbit sets. However, after Nexo knights and then Ninjago nothing came, because those are just more appealing to kids than old medieval things or Pirates.

What a great collection but one there’s one set I have that I didn’t see in his was the CASTLE, DRAGON KNIGHTS, MAJISTO'S TOWER SET 1906 - LEGO - 1994. Ether way I’m still impressed with how much he has and how well set they all are.
The Dual Catapult wagon is my all time favorite set. Great collection here!
My first sets were the Knight's Castle 6073 and Catapult 6030 was my second! Gave my to needy kids. Should've kept them. Black Falcons forever!

I had 375 great fun to build as a kid and the horses were built from pieces rather then molded. Great collection 👌
25:08 I rmember those! They used to have them standing in the cash register at gas stations. And they where pretty cheap and almost like collectibles.
What a trip down memory lane. I had that 1984 set as well with the drawbridge.
Had the KING’s castle as well. Had a few of these sets actually. It’s great to see them again.

He's got an amazing collection but there's tones more amazing sets missing like castle ninja sets. I hope he's able to get some of those ones some day.
Many people don't consider them part of the castle theme, but I love em and think Ninja is one of the best castle themes!

Nexo Knights, Ninja sets, Ninjago , Vikings are not to be added in the medieval castle/knights . Similar goes with the pirates sets i don't consider Pirates of the Carribean to added with the imperial blue&red coats from the 80's and 90's.
Nice, I have had at least a couple of these beautys back in the 90s, no castle though, but plenty of knights, dragons & catapults.

Very beautiful and fun collection, I watched the entire video. But I didn't see any sets from the ninja theme, which is also an important subtheme of Castle, with a lot small, but also 3 larger sets such as 6088: Robber's Retreat 6089: Stone Tower Bridge 6093: Flying Ninja Fortress. Were they not in this collection? Why not?

Outstanding Castle collection! Like Rich, Castle is my Lego theme. Similar to his story Knight's Castle was my first Lego Castle set, and I never stopped collecting them. I need to get some of the Fright Knight gas station sets, a Majisto set, and finish piecing the OG Yellow Castle together to cap off one of each of the mainline sets. As for those cool limited-edition stuff from Billund or other offers, I don't feel quite as compelled to seek those out, but I'll never say "never". Gotta have a Lego Quest to continuously work on.
Instead of having his lego dark age, he just built the entire dark age, lol. Awesome collection, man!
If anyone is interested in buying a collection similar to this, let me know. I'm selling all the castles from the yellow through Fright knight lines, plus some extras like the market village and blacksmith shop, and a few 48x48 baseplates of armies.
Lego needs to bring back old-style castle ninja and Vikings sets without horns for the Vikings preferably. New lines of those three would be spectacular. oh and aquanauts cowboys and pirates and the green red and gray aliens.

Oh so THIS is why I can't find any Falconers or Orcs from series 24. arg. Amazing collection though. I had a lot of these sets from the 80s and early 90s, and it's really cool seeing some of those again.
I'm not part of this hobby, but i do know and understand that short firm and honest "Correct" when asking something to someone who knows what they are talking about.

The only castle i had was the Black Knights Castle from '92 which i got from my godfather. I have been trying off and on to rebuild it and i have gotten pretty far but some pieces might be hard to find since i don't think we still have every Lego set acquired over the years. Lucky for me if i can narrow down the missing pieces i can ask my brother to order any that i need from bricklink.

I've collected lego sets as a kid, during the vladek/vikings era. It was epic.
I don’t know if I missed it, but i think he is missing a literal castle, the one where you can pull it apart into 5 pieces and there is a fake wall on the side to act as a “breach”.

Not by real Lego Fans as it has nothing to do with it . I consider Nexo Knights more as a Warhammer 40k since it has alot more elements from it .
This is why I collect classic space, my wallet doesn’t have the money to collect these

Kidding aside, thanks for creating this video and showcasing this breathtaking collection. I have a fondness for Castle and Forestmen - it's my childhood, although at that time I only had Forestmen's Hideout and Black Monarch's Ghost. Unfortunately, my mother gave them to the friend's children :(

Many of those sets weren't official Lego sets i see some from Temu and other Moc's or selfmade ones which is all except being "true official sets" . I also see it isn't à random guy from around the world that buy some sets during the year but someone that is paid by Lego and some groups that help each other which is easy to buy sets by thousands from huge amounts of money which is all being a "real lego fan" .
Wondering what those people will do when being older and realise they have spent way too much money since they could enjoy a holiday , restaurants with families and friends or buy real food that taste like one . Pretty sure alot of their kids "new generations" will not care about those sets for many of them and will mostly throw them in the bin , give them away for free or buy them on EBay since mostly alot of newer generations doesn't live in a big house but only in a small apartment/studio so no space at all .
I love Lego yes but the real magic has stopped since the brand Lego is a greedy society which cannot stop to make every year new sets that are for more than 65% ugly or duplicates seen couple years ago biggest example "The X-Wing" with different colors instead to offer us those colors bricks in the set so you don't need to be a new one ad vitam..
I wish that Lego could simply remake our vintage sets but not for huge amounts of money because they fall in the semi-moc/ideas/+18 excuse but would be more neutral imho and be cheap .
