Man just imagine if this Vikings team had a consistent QB alongside with AP
I still think of Brett Favre throwing that dumb INT in the NFC championship game when I see a good Vikings team.
imagine if Christian Ponder lived up to his hype
Seriously they had Brett favre that one year and I feel like they got robbed if they had consistent quarterback play when they had this team forget about it they would have won a championship
2009 you saw what happened when had a legit QB just for 1 year! just a play away from the superbowl
@@shortstackJMD96 only if they kicked the field goal
He totally carried us that year. The tear AP went on at the end of the season to almost get the single season record after tearing his ACL the year before was absolutely mental.
As an eagles fan i was mad that Mike Mcarathy prevented AP from getting the all time rushing record! I wanted AP to get it so bad! But Mccarthy and the packers had other plans…but AP shoulda got a ring before it was all said and done. He was the minnesota vikings all those years he played for yall
This was the year Adrian Peterson won league MVP after tearing his ACL the previous season, and the Seahawks were young, but a tough, up and coming team that planted the seeds for an outstanding march towards winning Super Bowl XLVIII against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos
Not only did he tear his ACL the year before, but it was on Christmas!!! Extremely fast recovery
And he was supposed to get the all time rushing record but Mike Mccarthy stopped that and i hate the fact that he did that.
AP was a monster this is why running backs will always be a big part of football you cannot undervalue how important a good running back is
Facts
*AD
And a good line. Steve Hutchinson was a beast back then and you saw it when he left Seattle and Minnesota.
Yeah but you have peterson, LT and then you have the rest
The game has changed, rbs are easily replaceable in todays game. It’s sad but true
Man miss those days, but wow 2012 Adrian Peterson was absolutely a BEAST!!!
the last running back in the NFL to win MVP
@@BuschLattelast. The keyword you’re looking for here is last. Also there’s only been 3. AP won in 2012 making it in a different decade.
The last non-QB in general to win OMVP.
And will be for awhile.
this was the most dominant rushing season by a RB ever imo. AP coming off that ACL+MCL tear to absolutely dominate opposing defenses in route to single handedly carrying his team to the playoffs.
One of the hardest carry jobs out there. Just like JJ Watt 2014
2012 was a great season! Yes even if my team went 8-8 again. Miss it!!
Marshawn keeping up with an MVP 2000 yard season 9 weeks into the season is super impressive
Y’all see how dirty Harrison smith tried to do his hair
Christian Ponder: 11 for 22 for 63 PASSING yards 0 TD, 1 INT, 4 sacks, 24.7 QB rating
Adrian Peterson: 17 carries for 182 RUSHING yards, 2 TDs
The numbers Peterson put up in his career behind so many awful QBs and 8-men stacked in the box every down is truly phenomenal.
literally. teams knew the viking ain’t have shit besides AP for *most* of his tenure and he still put up crazy numbers
Potential future NFL Throwback game requests:
1994 Week 4 Dolphins at Vikings (Dan Marino vs Warren Moon)
1995 Colts/Steelers AFC Championship Game
1986 Week 3 Jets/Dolphins (51-45)
2012 was such a legendary season. Look at all the big name on the stat line who had huge games that same day.
ray rice, trent richardson, and jay cutler, all legends
@cyrustorgeson9047 😂 ya know you’re not wrong. Legends in their own right
I'm happy I got to see many of the greatest RBs to ever play the game. These men are a dying breed.
I hate how AP had alot of games where he had more rushing yards than the QB had passing yards 🤦🏿♂️
AP had almost triple as many rushing yards as Ponder did passing yards. Ponder went 11 for 22 for 63 yards with one very bad INT. Awful.
AP was in a different stratosphere as a RB
Watching this 2012 Seahawks team, you just knew they were going to be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years. They had a ton of budding stars. Heck they would have got to the NFC Championship game if not for a Pete Carroll timeout that gave Matt Bryant another shot at a FG.
The way they were hitting in this game was with intensity! 😂
As a long-time Lions fan I watched him burn us so many times. He was unstoppable for most of his career. He also helped contribute for us as the goal line back who ended up having a total 7 rushing touchdowns for us at the end of his career. He would retire two seasons later. Absolute legend.
My favorite running back as a kid and even now. Haven’t seen guys like him in recent he was just absolutely unbelievable
There isn’t another AP!
We aint never gonna get another rb like AP ever again. The days of old school football are pretty much gone.
Lifelong Vikes fan and idolized AP but Derrick Henry is pretty incredible.
AP was just different though. Best RB I've ever watched.
@@JaredHettler yea but Derrick Henry cant run the way AP did back in the day. Defenses loaded the box and still could barely stop him. I’m just in awe that AP had 196 rushing yards in this game alone and they unfortunately lost because they didn’t have a good enough QB and offensive attack
I'm a Bears fan, but damn Jared Allen doesn't get enough respect as a pass rusher. He always brought the heat and played 100%.
was a hall of fame finalist this year hope he gets in next year
What A Incredible MVP Season For Adrian Peterson
Most forget how legendary it was. He was getting 200 yard games against folks like the LA Rams, who played him with a 5 man front line. He still split them for multiple long runs. He also was less than 1 year removed from ACL surgery. The man was not entirely human. Nobody, and I mean NO ONE else has come back from an ACL and UCL tear in the knee and been the same player. AP wasn't just the same, he was Better!!!! nearly 2100 yards.
Anyone else remember Sydney Rice? Such an underrated WR,…and against his former team
Not that underrated imo, had one amazing pro bowl season and was just a decent WR2/3 for all the seasons either side of it. Solid player, but hardly some unsung hero
Yes. Had some very clutch catches for the Seahawks.
@@draculamanyeah 1 good year. A Favre year and after nothing.
he was solid.. but 1 season where he was a number 1 receiver. everything else he was a number 2 at best. He averaged 32 catches, 513 yds and 4 TDs per year. Take the Favre year out and you get 27/380/3.6
mostly could not stay healthy, 2012 was his most healthy season playing in all 16 games besides the 2009 season with Favre
Not sure if we will ever see another back like AP the way he carried the team to general success for so long is lost in the way the game is going today with the pass heavy offenses. It's a shame.
Derrick Henry on the Titans was close a few years ago
This was one of the hardest hitting games I’ve seen, from both sides. They all came to play football that day, the sideline pops, RBs dropping shoulders, safeties laying down the law 😂😂😂 I miss the old nfl
As a Hawks fan watching throwback games like this makes me miss the LOB days🤧😭
Seahawks won’t win this year season lol it will be Mn Viking
I'm a Saints fan and I miss the LOB as well. I wished they beat Brady that year though. It really killed them after that loss.
Man omg it was a pleasure and privilege to watch prime AP during the earlier part of his career with the Vikings. John Madden (RIP) would always say AP was a “violent runner” because the front of his jerseys would be all messed up from getting tackled and the turf, helmet paint, etc staining his jersey. Anyways for AP to have over 190 rushing yards, THAT is the epitome of old school
Smashmouth football! Im an eagles fan and all but I feel a lil bad that AP literally put those vikings teams on his back and tried to run em to a super bowl win but he couldn’t do it all himself because those teams weren’t complete teams by a long shot. But i dont think we’ll ever see THIS kinda football ever again because the league has evolved into more of a passing league. Damn i miss old school running like what AP and Beastmode played….
Love it when NFL Throwback posts 2012-2014 NFL🙏🏾
2012 Adrian Peterson was so fucking outstanding that the Vikings went to the playoffs with Christian Ponder at QB. Most unbelievable accomplishment in NFL history.
Man...what a time that was to be a Seahawks fan. I am happy that I was there with RW3, Lynch and the LOB. It was just amazing.
Wow, can’t believe this popped up on my thread. I live in Indianapolis and me my cousin and grandparents went to this game! Atmosphere is absolutely electric there
That TH-cam algorithm is crazy... this is the only NFL game I've ever been to and I'll always remember that first play run
I prefer LT overall, but I think AP was the most dominant RB in history in terms of sheer physicality.
No lie there no running back that did what he did after those major injuries
Who’s excited for the Hawks vs Vikings game today
lets gooooo!
#GoHawks
Got my bam bam kam wolf grey jersey on
Forgot exactly how bad ponder was 😂😂😂😂 blows my mind how he was drafted in the top 15
Watching Peterson's greatness is offset by having to watch Christian Ponder play Quarterback. Brutal to watch
That run to start the game tho smh!! AP really was different.. Not sure if there's been a more physically dominant back like him since.. Henry maybe the closest thing but AP really had it all.. This reminded me of how much I miss watching him play.. And to think this was one season after an acl 😮 I remember being upset he didn't get the record by only a handful of yards.. He deserved it for that year
He’s the greatest Running back I have ever seen in my lifetime l.Honestly it’s him ,Jim brown and Barry sanders the best running backs of all time in terms of flat out talent and ability.Longevity is obviously m’émit smith
Was such an awesome time to watch the NFL , we had greatest rb of all time arguably, LOB going on, Peyton wining a Super Bowl ….good times
I regret skipping some of this game even though the Vikings lost. I was teenager back then and didn’t know any better.
you guys played very well
love how every Viking passing highlight is just a lowlight
Bobby Wagner is the only player from the LOB still on the Seahawks in 2023 😮
When Ponder went down and Joe Webb stepped in later that season they reminded me of the 49ers that went to the Super Bowl that year
Miss these days 😢🥹
Same here. Good times
Same
Adrian Peterson Was Amazing NFL Throwback
9:23 of course you gave the ball to Lynch
0:31 The first run was hilarious because Richard Sherman didn't want to tackle AP, so he flopped out of the way then tried to say he was held
AP understood what he was up against and the LOB understood what they were up against.
2:28 Andrew Luck 30/48 433 yds 2 td
Peterson underrated
I don’t think anyone thinks this, he’s top 5 maybe even 3 RBs all time
Me and my friends have been trying to put together a top ten rb list of all time. Everyone puts AP on the list, mos tof us put him in the top 5. I don't think he's that overrated, he's just been out of the league talk for a little while so that's why.
Dear NFL throwback...I love you so much
Prime Barry Sanders
Prime AP
Prime LT
⬇️ ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Everyone else
I put LT above AP as a diehard vikes fan
His touchdown numbers are too crazy
Smoking crank we going prime for prime priest Holmes deangelo Williams bell gurley Charles cj2k I’d take over LT no shot at the goat they just do more
@@SirStazian Id say APs TD numbers are suppressed by never having a passing game, the defense always knew in the red zone that AP was getting the ball so they sold out against the run. Personally I see LT and AP as neck and neck and you could really make a case for either but their respective stats were a product of their environment not their generational talents
What about Eric Dickerson? Nearly 4000 rushing yards in his first 2 seasons alone.
@@nelsonbohanon2190 I would take Jim Brown and O.J. Simpson over anyone you just named. O.J. Simpson you can't argue with. He Rushed for 2003 yards in a 14 game season!!!!! He also played in BUFFALO in the SNOW and MUD. That means, he was getting 200 yard games in the worst running conditions all year, and still put up 2000,. No other RB that rushed for 2000 had to deal with that. CJ2K had modern turf and stadiums, and he played against defensed geared tward the pass. In OJ's day, running the ball was the primary option, and you threw to keep the defense honest.
In Barry Sanders and CJ's days, passing was primary, and you ran to keep the defense honest. There is no comparison.
Wow it's been this many years already? 😳 seems like it was only a few seasons ago everyone was walking around going BOOM 💥
Hey this was a fun game to watch here🍿
Pete sure loves not giving Lynch the football on short yardage situations. Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite him.
NFL Throwback, can you upload some 2000's preseason games please?
why preseason? the views would be super low.
“Grandad tell me about the good ol’ days” -JLP
Beginning of a rivalry 🏹
What an amazing time in football.
What a showdown
Pay these RBs! I know this was 10 years ago which is crazy to say
Man I miss this football. 😫 So much contact and fight in every play by everyone.
I have no memory of the Seahawks ever doing QB sneaks in Russel Wilson era, and they had 3 in this game!
Remember when tackling looked like it hurt? What a different sport this looks like
This man was the Vikings offense
AP was in a different stratosphere as a RB. AP was in a different stratosphere as a RB.
7:31 how in the hell was he still able to move like that? knowing me, i wouldve been laid out for days LOL.
Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch in the same game? Epic!
HOLY SMOKES 😂 7:28
I can’t believe this is a decade ago Russell Wilson was one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL you had to Hall of Fame runner back so we’re still in their primes wow what a difference a decade makes now look Adrian Peterson’s out of the league Marshawn Lynch retired and Russell Wilson is one of the most hated quarterbacks right now literally after one bad season with a new team
As an Oklahoma native that watched Peterson at OU. His nickname is AD (All Day) not AP.
Legion of boom got beat up on the ground in this one
top 5 RB of all time
6:57 That was obliviously short
Commentator said loudiest 😂😂😂
Damn this was a competitive ass game. Everybody was in their mode.
Wss st this game. Hell of a game
Damn who was the safety that came down and cracked Marshawn 😳
Generational talent, but AP still falls short of LOB legacy. This was posted because 2012-2016 Seattle was recently brought up as the Top 3 defenses in history; Statistically being the #1 defense during those 4 years by just running TWO types of plays. This should really be an example of a Vikings team who had the best RB in the league, but never saw the SuperBowl. A very relevant topic in 2023, involving large investments into the position.
Lol dude ran all over LOB. Stop it.
Wow…it was a different time.
Brandon Browner was alright in Seattle and New England Kinda Ironic he has back to back rings on two teams with two great corners on his other side but damn he was bad in New Orleans but then again the Saints Secondary was not all that back in 2016
IMO 2012 is the NFLs peak
That fake end around inside zone run was working all day
They used to hit so differently
In all seriousness, u can’t play like this anymore(they just won’t allow it)…this was a pretty violent game
biggest surprise of the game was looking at the ticker and see bears 51 titans 20! what the hell happened in that game!?!
AD one of the best
4th & goal on the 1 for the game, who you got?
AP or Beast Mode
So hit the hole so hard and so fast almost look like he goin brake for 80 every play
Clear as day hold on that first run lol
I still hate that AD got changed to AP because people didn’t realize it’s not his initials.
Hard hitting football. The product was better but safety was pretty much on the back burner still
Prime AP was special
What was Percy Harvin doing on that first play? Lol
Ran all the way down the field to do nothing.
Its AD not AP. Ask Adrian yourself and he'll tell you its AD.
Harvin and Baldwin. Two great players that wont make the hof but they were legit.
I hate it when someone rips off a long run. Only to get tackled just short of the goal line.
If this game were exclusively AP vs LOB, then AP came out on top.
Man carried the vikings most his vikings career . only time he had a good QB was that 1st year with Favre kinda sad
Damn, Brandon Browner was a big corner
Earl Thomas was so dope
