Two great legends were born on this labor day ... (1). ''Balraj Sahney'' - one of the finest actors of all times and, (2). ''Manna Dey'' - one of the most melodious singers cum 'surr samraat' of HFM.
This song from 'Ek Phool Do Maali' is a combined tribute to both these stalwarts & pillars of the golden era of hindi films. Both of them need no description as both are the encyclopedia of the hindi film industry in their respective fields of labor.
There are a few hindi films that are so real & an exact replica of the life story that one is bound to fall in love with these movies. One completely symbolizes with the characters & feels happy when the protagonists are happy and sad when tragedy strikes them. One of such movies was 1969 - 'Ek Phool Do Maali' and an another I can recall is 'Maasoom - 1984'. Both these films had truly a realistic story line.
There are a few songs wherein, Manna Dey has vocalised for Balraj Sahney on the screen & 'Tujhe Suraj Kahoon Ya Chanda ... from EPDM is one of them. The way Balraj Sahney loves the kid and dotes on him in this song moves the audience, including me.

मैं जब भी यह गाना गाता मेरी आँखों मे पानी भर आता है। पहले मैं अपने बेटे के लिये गाता था जो आज आई ई एस अफसर है। आज उसके बेटी मेरी पोती को सुलाते समय यह गीत गाता हु। कल हाथ पकड़ना मेरा जब मैं बूढा हो जाऊ यह लाइन गाते हुये आँखे भर आती है।
