During that same time, there are 13,000 deaths per year from drunk driving. There are 358 deaths per year for children under 15 due to drowning. Drownings are 20X more likely and for children and drunk driving is 765X more likely. But national politicians never talk about these issues even though they are far more deadly. You are literally more likely to be struck by lightning than to be killed by an AR-15. You need to understand that your primary motivation is not facts, but a desire to control other people based on fear.

A large majority of Australians see no need or have no desire to own a gun. Sure, there is some gun violence, but it is a rare occurance, usually between rival gangs. Classifying all young male shooters as 'psycho' is denying the problems of emotional pressures, mental health issues they are faced with, coupled with the ease of access by young males to guns, particularly, military type weapons. All countries have problematic youth issues, but mass shootings are not the norm. In how many other countries do parents give their children guns as birthday or Christmas gifts? I'm guessing many of these politicians are receiving substantial financial support from the gun lobby groups.
