    Good job, thanks Mate! Just bought Washburn G15V with that trem and got stuck

    I have one of those guitars, but the trem was slightly different. Mine didn't have the little covers. I did dozens of gigs with it, in a metal band from 1989-1991 and it held tune beautifully. Even after solos and heavy, fast riffing. Unfortunately, I threw the trem away years ago and have had the guitar fully rebuilt and refinished. It now has a Schaller Floyd Rose.
    I still have the tremolo arm though, and it's a screw in with about 3/4 inch of thread. I also just bought an RS-10V with the same trem, but in chrome. I'm hoping there is a way I can replace it, without too much modification to the cavity.

      Schaller Floyd is the OG boss! Yeah the little covers... They look cool but they are a bit scary the allen key required is microscopic and the allen screws have very shallow heads! A great combo for getting rounded out ! Apart from that these seem cool, if I recall the post spacing differs between the 600T and an OFR, but yeah I think get the post holes plugged and redrilled for a real Floyd and you should be away!

    My Aria Pro II Straycat had that trem. I hated it. This was back in '85. Didn't know much but I thought it was the worst design.

    • @hydorah
      @hydorah  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They did often use a trem very similar to this on Aria Pro IIs . As well as Kahlers, traditional trems and two point trems with no fine tuners... Four possible trem types! Probably would have been a TRS made by Takeuchi on your '85 Aria Pro II. Really, really similar but not quite the same. The 600T is specific to Washburn... Unless someone swapped it over of course. Did you change to a different trem on that Aria? Or did you just get rid of the guitar entirely? What went wrong with your trem? Takeuchi trems are normally ace

      @@hydorah nah mate. The clamping of the string at the bridge was awful. After a couple years, grooves appeared in the saddles, because of the strings being pressed down into them. They were horrible with tuning, too. Too tight and it was very sharp, not tight enough and the string would go out of tune with a bend. Could never find the sweet spot. I fought that guitar a lot. I sold it about 5 years later - I was in high school, no money to swap out guitars in a jiff. It was rubbish, man.

      @@forgotmyname4971 That sound hellish! At least you stuck at guitar. That must have been a miserable five years, though. If I were a gambling man, I'd say that sounds like bad knife edges on the trem, so the guitra can't consistently return in tune, if any Floyd rose style system is in good health all that's needed is the nut to remain still, the springs and string to have adequate tension and that is it. That system will always come back to the same tuning. If the nut can move (if it's not screwed on well - rare) or if the knife edges are worn (Common on used guitars as idiots adjust the trem height under string tension - and ruin the knife edges). Was the guitar new when you bought it? Or was it pre-owned? What do you play these days?

      @@forgotmyname4971 Wow that's terrible. Shocking in fact. That means the store you bought it from must have fucked up the trem, setting it up. The classic noob error which ruins any two point floating trem right away is to adjust the height of the trem with strings still under tension. Doing this wears the pivot screws and wears the knife edges of the trem, these are hardened but the hardened layer is very thin and the knife edges and pivot screws have very precise and absolutely critical profiles. In normal use it lasts a lifetime but turn those screws with string tension on? Even in one setup session you can screw that trem up and it will never settle in tune consistently again. I reckon that's what happened to your guitar. Did you go back and complain to the shop?

      @@hydorah thank you that would be so helpful. The information on washburn guitars is so limited. It's an amazing sounding guitar and not given enough credit on that but the tremolo I think let's it down. They are so difficult to set up and parts are none existent.

      I ordered a 6mm screw in arm in the end. It seemed to thread in OK but the threaded part was to short so didn't wind in enough before hitting the tuners on the trem. Slightly frustrating 😂

      I think a Schaller manufactured Floyd Rose as to be the ultimate answer! unfortunately the stud spacing and placement need to be altered. The 600T is a good trem though... Are you having problems with yours?

    • @heikoeff7176
      @heikoeff7176 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't need a new Trem...the 600T will work fine with a Backbox like this: www.thomann.de/de/goeldo_backbox.htm or any similar product :) I love my RS-10V since over 30 years...a few weeks ago, I got an RS-8V with a Kahler Steeler...and it's a mess :(

    Hi, i just got a guitar with the Floyd Rose 600T but i'm missing the locking nuts and tremolo bar and I can't seem to find these being sold anymore. Do you perhaps have any suggestions what I can buy that will fit?
    I saw you recommend the Scheller floyd rose, will these parts fit on the 600T?

    • @hydorah
      @hydorah  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      By 'locking nuts' do you mean the three string locks at the nut? Schaller compatible parts should work for those but I'll double check that. Trem arm could be more tricky. Floyds use an arm with a threaded collar but the 600T uses a threaded arm. it's quite thick I'll dig out a 600T guitar and double check this stuff and give you thread diameter and length so you can hopefully find a substitute

      Hey mate, sadly not the 600T has narrower stud spacing, the trem baseplate also have the pivot point in a different place. This guy has done the conversion:
