Okay, but I love how when Lifetime did the movies, they decided to make Bart and Cindy a couple. lmao. They were just like, "More incest!!!". Which, I mean, they did have a very....odd relationship in the books. Especially when you compared Bart and Cindy's relationship to Cindy's with Jory. Cindy was honestly a hoot. In some ways, I saw her as what Carrie could've been if she'd had a normal childhood.
Technically, Cindy was not "officially" adopted by Cathy and Chris, so she was not related in any way to Jory or Bart, and it would not be incest for her to marry Bart. Gross, creepy, but not incestuous or illegal.
I recently finished this book and honestly, I felt it was the weakest of the Dollanganger series, but the ending really got to me. I don’t think the series could have ended a better way. (Andrew Neiderman: Hold my drink)
Great to see the reviews of the books after "Flowers'", very comprehensive reviews. "If There be Thorns" was my favourite as Chris and Cathy's secret unravels...
@@ReginasHauntedLibrary I think people who just read the first were disgruntled at "Oh, then they leave." I liked how in the next ones you're not sure how much to root for Cathy as she tries getting revenge.
Was Jory's "accident" planned by Bart? He looked into a clause in the insurance. Was he so jealous of jeaous of Jory that he would cause the paralysis of Jory? Strong suspicion falls on Bart!
Ive gone back and re-read the book a couple of more times, and now Im thinking VC did the outline, but the ghostwriter did the majority of the writing. The phrasing, the structure, the rewriting of history, and the dialogue sounds more like Neiderman than VC.
A couple of things: Toni and Jory were not attracted to each other initially; Jory had just lost Melody and was trying to raise the twins on his own. It wasn't until Bart lost his good sense and got more involved with Joel, only then did Toni start to noticed there was another brother. Cindy was fierce and unapologetic and not in any way attracted to Bart ("I'm chilled, not thrilled" were her words to him). Bart announced to the world that Cindy was his sister when she joined him on stage to sing a song. Chris was killed by a hit-and-run driver, not a drunk one (how Chris Sr was killed) or being drunk/high (as Julian was when he was killed). Joel despised Corrine and ranted about her and was not religious, whereas Corrine expressed nothing but love for her "dead" brother and lamented that their parents' ultra-religious views turned the kids AWAY from religion. I know this book inside and out. I can pick out any discrepancy.
Sounds like the Lifetime movie left out a little. But sounds a little better than the movie adaptation. I wish they had done one for the fifth book, like they did with the fifth book of the Casteel series.
So I literally just found out about this series I watched the old movie when I was a kid had no clue there was incest involved 😂. So now I’m watching all the lifetime movies and watching your review to see if it matches up with the books! So thank you so much for these videos they’re helping a lot
Absolutely adored the book but the lifetime movie is gawd awful. It was more of a comedy than drama. The twist they did with Bart and Cindy is terrible too. Jory was a complete joke and I guess the character Joel who is a main villian in the book wasn't sexy enough for the film. Thanks for your review ✨

Ha! You can't have too much of that in a VC Andrews' story.

Bart took "liberties" after Melodie searched him out!
That "Hope this thing passes very soon" comment in the begining sent a stake through my heart.

I did tear up at the end.
Loving these V.C Andrews reviews! Glad you and your family are all ok! Xx
Thank you so much.

Thanks. I found myself really enjoying those later books too. I needed closure. LOL!

The It clown is staring at me. Judging me....

I never really figured out who caused the accident that paralyzed Jory, it had to have been either Bart or Joel.
Hmmm. Probably Bart. 😊
I always thought it was Joel. As awful as Bart was, I don't think he'd go that far.

LOL! I can tell. I'm impressed with your retention. There is a lot going on in these books. :)
@ReginasHauntedLibrary I have an exceptional memory--which is a blessing and a curse.

The Casteel series is next.
@@ReginasHauntedLibrary Oooohh, can't wait.
I enjoyed Seeds but i wonder how VC's death was when she wrote this book.
The book is missing something
I'm not sure. That info may be in her biography.
Melodie "didn't sign up for this", Jory's "accident"/Melodie's pregnancy!
thanks for isolating and taking the time to make these reviews! really enjoying them!
Thank you. I will be doing more VC Andrews reviews soon. :)

Having been isolated makes the horror more terrifying!
Oh I love The Dollagangers series but i'm very sad about Cris death because it hurt Cathy because she lost the only person who loved her
That's true. It's very tragic.

The Lifetime movies for all the series are a lot of fun. There's something about VC Andrews...LOL! Thanks for watching.
@@ReginasHauntedLibrary Oh my god yes so much fun! It was like watching the young and the restless 😂

There are a bunch of them, but if you search for "VC Andrews book illustrations" they will pop up.
"Pennywise" on the left!
